  1. Rootametrics 2nd half 2016 should be interesting to see. I think we will have some good gains.

I was at a bbq next to my house around Luna Park couple days ago. I was pulling in around 80mbs down, my tmobile cousin was pretty much shocked.

  2. TransitWireless WiFi right? There doesn't seem to be any cellular signal there according to their maps. Wall Street was the same way. I never had WiFI there and then one day a few weeks ago it was live but there still isn't any cellular signal.

Yup just wifi, I connect to transit wireless anytime I have a chance even if I have LTE.

Transit wireless is blazing fast, anywhere from 40-80 mb/s.

That being said I have a 6S now so I have experienced some of the 2x CA around my neighborhood.

On West 8th between neptune and surf the highest I got was 86mb/s.

  3. Was at Applebee's in Milton, nj. 3G inside very slow, barley 1 bar of LTE outside. Im surprised there are still holes like this in sprints coverage. Pretty damn frustrating. Nothing gets me more pissed off then not having usable speed when you want it.

  4. Thats still one of the downsides of Tmobile, it often goes to no service, which rarely happens on Sprint's native footprint. 1X(800) still allows you to make calls and extremely slow data.

Overall I would say I was optimistic about T mobile this morning but as I walk around with it its not really that much better.

Ill see what my co workers are on, it may have been Verizon.

  5. Its highly likely that T-Mobile has a site that's closer.

One thing to keep in mind, your probably better off not having a band 12 device in this scenario since band 12 is probably super saturated in that location.

I also noticed it switches to "4G" quite often inside and I did get no service at one point.

  6. That doesn't sound like EVDO. That sounds like you were on 1x. I can't remember the last time I saw speeds that low on Sprint. Even at the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium, my speeds were higher than that.

Ah your right actually, i noticed once I try to use data it switches to 1x

  7. T-Mobile has the most dense network in NYC by far. This is a result of them using GSM with AWS spacing. There are some areas where they have two sites across the street from each other. VZW's nework isn't that dense but they've had the advantage of owning 850MHz here so it wasn't a problem and now they have small cells so they've filled in a lot of their outdoor coverage woes.

I don't know how AT&T is since I don't have access to their network through friends or family. However if my observations are correct, AT&T has really slipped and is now the worst performing network in NYC due to their lack of investment. They wen't from arguably the best LTE network here in 2012-2013 to the worst in a short span of time.

And while Sprint's Band 41 network is really dense (I'd argue the second most dense after T-Mobile) they still have a lot of dual mode equipment up that is not 8T8R so we don't see that coverage gain in many places. At my Aunt's house in Mill Basin I get a strong Band 41 signal in her home but at my home in Crown Heights I get a weak Band 41 signal even though the sites are roughly the same distance away. Although I'm able to get 12Mbps on that weak signal, I'm sure I'd camp on Band 41 instead of Band 25 more often if the sites in my neighborhood had 8T8R antennas.

Post densification, I hope Sprint becomes really aggressive in switching out old equipment for the increase in coverage and usability.

I actually have 3G here but its unusable, like 0.02 mb/s... So much for network vision, i thought sprint had fixed those legacy sites.

  8. So i called Sprint last night to get my phone unlocked for domestic use. I got a tmobile sim and here at my work t mobile gets 1-2 bars of LTE, this is with an iPhone 6  with no band 12 support. Im guessing tmobile has better density here since sprint cant get band 26 in here.

  9. That sucks. I don't know if I can attribute that to the whole area though. Just a few months ago at the car show in the Javits Center, my speeds were great inside and out, even with all of the people there.

I was also at the car show this year and speeds were also good. Indoor im usually fine but this damn building has too much steel I guess. Still other carriers work so I dont know whats the deal.

  10. I like Sprint but its pissing me off right now. My new work location gets basically no data and very poor voice inside.

My co-workers on other carriers are fine, even metro pcs...This is around Hudson Yards 33rd st.

I may switch to t mobile the next couple of months. Not much of a choice really...

  11. I was on lunch today at tmobile checking out their plan prices. One of the reps came up and asked what service you on?

I said Sprint and she immediately went on this rant on how sprint is slow, ouch etc etc..

So I told her lets do a speediest inside the store. She took out her phone and it was Tmoble 3mb/s down Sprint 6mb/s down.

It was such an awkward silence lol. Tmobile has changed the cellphone industry no doubt, but Legere has them brainwashed at this point.

EDIT: This was at the 34rd st and 8th ave store i think.
