this stoppage is concerning it was unexpected

It actually isn't concerning or unexpected since the stoppage was expected by all parties. New fillings were submitted by T-Mobile/Sprint. It is all part of the process.

This merger is still likely going to happen. Some people in power will question it in order to toot their horn (it's politics 101), but will ultimately not stand in the way.

I will be in the 5G zone of coverage starting this June...  had previously thought getting a 5G phone would be useless until 2020. 🤔

Am I the only one that feels like these maps are a huge letdown? Sprint holds the spectrum advantage with their EBS/BRS spectrum. They have the ability blanket most markets with wideband 5G.

Yet they aren't. Why? Why not go scorched Earth on their competitors and widely deploy 5G? That DFW map is a joke.

It's not possible to turn off CDMA in NSG. At least not on the Pixel. Just GSM, WCDMA, and LTE bands. I turned off B25, 26, 41, and it goes to 3g. The only way to disable CDMA is to set it to LTE only mode.

Really? I used to turn it off on the Google Nexus all the time.

    That's very odd.

I got T-mobile roaming in the Long Island market yesterday when a Sprint tower went down. Didn't think they would allow Tmobile roaming in that scenario. Besides a tower going down I've never been in a no sprint service scenario in the market

If you have a rooted Android, you can turn off the Sprint bands and see the extent of T-Mobile Roaming.

That's not terrible but it's low speed but usable

Yeah, those speeds are good enough for just about anything, including HD Video.

I guess I'm one of those people who stopped caring about top speeds and just wants reliability and usability.

Nice to see band 71 in New Mexico, use to not have good signal on this area and now it's been sticking to it!!!! 22fe6426c538510617675f9481ed7f87.jpg22ea47e3b971b2fd19f070f8a08efdbf.jpg

Nice to see there is proper backhaul and not satellite backhaul like in some Wyoming sites. Unfortunately, -118 is pushing the limits of LTE. What area of New Mexico is this?

Whatvare you talking about? For the vast majority of people, spring's upload speeds work fine. Your complete inability to separate you needs from the vast majority of people and tendency to generalize your experience to the majority of people makes talking to you extremely annoying.

My needs? Is battery performance not important to people? I guess manufacturers must have missed the memo because they are cramming as much battery as possible to their devices (some even removing the headphone jack for battery space). I guess Sprint should also stop bothering with UL CA, HPUE, and high order QAM...because utiz said the majority of people don't care for UL. 0.01 Mbps for everyone!

    ?‍♂️

You've been told once already to ease up with presenting your opinions as fact. Stop arguing for the sake of arguing.

Does anyone know if the lastest thing I've been hearing is that the investors and the board will step in and tell Sprint there spending too much and cut it down?

It's discouraging, but it would makes sense. They've gone a few years without spending any meaningful money. So what's another year? Makes absolutely no sense to waste money on your network if you're confident the merger will go through.

Whocares? Why do you care if it takes an hour or 20 mins to upload your photos?

Slow uploads consume a heck of a lot more battery than fast uploads over LTE.

Uploading a 5 minute, 4k video on a fair B41 signal could take HOURS. Uploading that same video on Verizon, At&t, or T-Mobile usually takes a few minutes.

That's a bigger difference on battery performance.

Are there people on the internet breathlessly refreshing what ever page you are uploading to, hoping to be the first to see these photos?

For the sake of this argument....yes. Yes there are.

You can call it "involuntary transfer of assets" but that doesn't make bank robbery any less illegal.

You'd be surprised at the number of govt officials selling themselves to O&G companies all over South and West Texas.

The fact is, many foreign companies (including Wal-Mart) have been accused or found guilty of doing business the way Mexicans DO business. If you want stuff to get done, you have to buy the right "services". If you don't, then delays happen.

    Video capped at 12mpbs

This is something I stumbled upon on Sprint over a year ago as well. I noticed that in areas with B41, I could get 30-40 Mbps on the Speedtest app. But on Netflix's own speed test site, it would max out at 12-13 Mbps.

These speeds made sense for network management purposes (ED1500 allowed for such thing under T&C). The minimum speed requirements for 4K streaming on Netflix are 15 Mbps. Not allowing 4K goes a long way in keeping congestion down.

I don't think it's the resources anymore at this point.. Sprint has enough spectrum to where they won't need as many tower to bring capacity to certain areas.. I think it's SoftBank not fully 100% confident/behind Sprint to fully go at it alone...and Sprint brand image.. I think that's about it really .. the network will tag along piece by piece.. imo

On the contrary. Sprint needs to add towers. B41's reach is Sprint's achilles' heel in the 4G race. El Paso is devoid of trees and foliage so tower spacing may not be an issue for you. But in areas that are not deserts (like the rest of Texas), B41 his hurt by trees, large buildings, and rolling hills. B26 is so congested in my area that I used to find myself better off on 1x at certain times/locations.

More macro additions are needed. It wouldn't hurt if Sprint started splitting sectors as well to double it's capacity on B25 in areas where they lack midband spectrum.

I wonder whats is  hold up on adding a 3rd Carrier in 2 Carrier Markets been almost 3 years since add 2 carriers on Band 41. I do have 3 carriers only in Wilmington De , but the Rest of the Market  only  has 2.

It's puzzling. I've seen some Clearwire sites with three carriers and then the next neighboring Clearwire site with only two.

But it is important to point out that I've only seen Clearwire sites with three carriers in areas with high foer traffic (shopping center, schools, and downtown). Residential areas seem to be the ones left behind.

Sprint still hasn't finished El Paso?!? I know there are a few sites that haven't been touched in West Texas (SW of Monahans and between Van Horn and Fort Stockton), but if this site is in the immediate El Paso area, then this is just....?.
