I had to disable VoLTE in west Michigan.  When my phone was consistently connecting to the MB in my house, it was great.  However, I haven't connected to it in three weeks that I've seen.  I wish I could figure out why, other devices connect fine.

The call quality was too choppy on the macro network or roaming on TMobile.  Too many calls that had to be hung up and started over to get a flowing data session.

VoLTE works while you're roaming on T-Mobile?

It ain’t fine for data according to Q4 2019 Ookla speed test data. Not great for calls either according to RootMetrics.

T-Mobile knocks Sprint out when it comes to data in Houston. I was rarely ever on Band 41 and was stuck using one of the two 5 Mhz B25 carriers (No B25 carrier aggregation when I left). Compare that to T-Mobile's 10x10 B2 and 20x20 B4. Day and night difference

As far as voice, I'm not sure VoLTE will ever be as reliable as 1xRTT. I've used Verizon and T-Mobile and I've had more issues with calls on both carriers than I ever had with post-NV Sprint. Having said that, VoLTE is the way of the future. While it has it's issues, you really can't beat the voice quality. It's way better than Sprint's version of "HD Voice" and simultaneous Voice + Data is very convenient.

  3. Mike, do you have older versions of the app available somewhere (specifically 4.54 or older)? I'm trying to figure out if the latest updates (4.55 and 4.553) broke the importing logs feature.

I'm on OnePlus 6t. The issue started after receiving a replacement OT6t, so I'm not sure if it's the device or the latest version of the app that's causing the issue. Every time I import my logs, I get the "Database with xxxxx entries imported successfully" message, but nothing really gets imported.

Sprint 5G upload is on 2.5 which realistically is gonna cover less people than most of TMobile's bands.

My main point is to illustrate how much more stable 5G uploads are against Sprint current TDD config on LTE.

Like I said, anecdotal. All of those speeds tests where done in the span of 10 minutes past midnight, in (which is safe to assume) the same location and with extremely great signal strength/LOS.

The problem with upload speeds in the 2.5 Ghz band is that the UL speeds dramatically fall off whenever you move away from the tower. Good speeds are possible, but on a few select areas near towers.

    Gotta disagree with you there..

5G has given me pretty solid and consistent upload speeds, at the very worse Ill see between 3 and 5mbs with very little signal and 15-30mbs on a strong signal.

All those speeds are at 2:30 AM from the same date. Very anecdotal data.

One down a few more to go!

We're a month and a half away from the start of the trial. My guess is a few more states drop out as we get closer to December 9. I really hope Texas pushes for more rural coverage from T-Mobile and that Dish covers urban areas + interstate highways. There are so many back roads that are crucial to O&G where only At&t has coverage. It's time they get some competition.

Please don't take what I comment with any sincerity. I am entertaining absurdly because this entire process has achieved the absolute heights of absurdity. If I didn't convey with 5G emissions the ridiculousness one would expect this merger to be framed in then I should have supplied an irony outro.

I found it funny. You can't help but laugh at the whole process. You'd figure that the DOJ would take precedence over state AGs. Nope.

The HSR Act should have given power to AGs to only sue within their own state. Once a company clearly engages in interstate commerce, then any anti-trust issue should be left to the DOJ and DOJ only. For California and New York to decide what a business can and cannot do nationally is absurd.

CDMA's ability to pull usable data from below the noise floor is pretty impressive.  I remember in one of my college classes, we did the math to derive it, and sure enough, the math says it should be theoretically possible to retrieve the signal from below the noise floor, and the real world bears it out.  (We also retrieved messages out of an example CDMA signal by hand.  Very neat stuff.)

I wish I had a good example to share; Wikipedia is very opaque and I'm not finding anything else helpful with a fast search.

I'm going to miss CDMA whenever it sunsets. 1xRTT is a very reliable voice airlink that provides high reliability and coverage. I don't think any technology will ever come close to matching the robustness that CDMA offered us.

Yes, that’s what Neville plans is. This was Neville quote.. it is the fastest and smoothest way to transition everyone

MOCN is just a stop-gap solution while they figure out how to transfer everyone to the T-Mobile core network. MOCN cannot be used to combine two networks into one, but can be used to allow a group of users access to more than one network.

T-Mobile already implements MOCN so Sprint users can roam on their network without any compatibility issues. There is no need to worry about VoLTE compatibility or eCSFB issues with MOCN unlike with traditional roaming. This is the reason why T-Mobile roaming comes back with a Clearwire PLMN instead of a T-Mobile PLMN

So how much effort and time will it take between the closing of the deal and my OnePlus 6T on T-mobile being able to connect to B41? Obviously not immediately, but is it an equipment change that's needed or just a permissions adjustment on the backend?

I don't think anything specific has been said about T-Mobile users being able to use Sprint towers. Why give T-Mobile users extra coverage if you're just going to shut off most of the Sprint towers 3 years later? And since T-Mobile only plans to deploy the EBS/BRS band using the NR airlink from their network, I don't know that your one plus will ever connect to B41.

It's possible, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I have several option calls on $S and $TMUS and I need this merger to be done like....yesterday... lol

Charles Gasparino just said that the DoJ presser is back on for tomorrow (as of right now). But of course, things can change from tonight to tomorrow morning.

My guess is that the DoJ found a state AG (or two) to back down from the lawsuit. The merger has been nuts to follow after the FCC gave their blessing. If Delrahim pulls this off, then he deserves a ton of credit. He just created a 3rd true national carrier (one that can go toe to toe with Verizon/At&t), while ensuring that most Americans have access to 4 carriers in most cities. This is a good outcome for all of America.

The news / business outlets are still saying the delay is due to the DOJ negotiating with the states over the merger.     Overall, this might be good to clear as much of the legalities up as possible.

The DoJ is just trying to flip a couple of states to walk away from the lawsuit. Their goal is to weaken it as much as possible.

I'd be very surprised if the DoJ can convince anti-Trump states like California and New York to walk away. Those AGs are fully locked into a political pissing match.
