  1. Well. I thought the Spark rollout in this market was complete. It was one of the first LTE markets and Spark markets. Is there really more work to be done? When you get talk like this, I expect to see blazing speeds. 120Mbps? Lucky to see 20Mbps.
  2. True to an extent and IF Sprint responds in 24 hours. I say "to an extent" because the tech press will report it something like as follows: "T-Mobile introduces Data Stash. Sprint follows with own data rollover plan." In the mind of the consumer, T-Mobile is in the driver's seat, and that matters. Another reason it's to an extent is because with T-Mobile is doing the introducing. This excites the T-Mobile fan base, the ones who take to the Internet and posting glowingly of T-Mobile. These people did not come from nowhere. They were created and developed over time, especially through these Uncarrier events. Sprint could use such a fan base as they can be influential. Maybe. If Sprint is continually perceived as playing tag along or catch-up, that doesn't look good. People are attracted to buzz. If T-Mobile appears buzzing, some will and some have moved to go to the buzz. What true words. And, this is a huge part of Sprint's challenge because people feel they have given Sprint years to build its promised better product, and it has taken too long and is under delivering. Fighting on plans and prices bought Sprint time. They must deliver a network that does not constantly appear in last place. Sure. There are markets here and there where Sprint scores well. Too few. That does sounds like a winner. And sadly, that plan was cut at the knees by every tech site I follow. I don't buy their stories. I even defended Sprint saying they are really cutting the bill in half and explained why.
  3. Doesn't their plan come with 5GB hotspot at no extra charge? Nice little addition.
  4. Even if they announce, this will be another occasion where T-Mobile is perceived as being the leader on something. Marcelo has got to get Sprint from behind the 8 ball. Even when they try, like cutting ATT and V bills in half, they shoot themselves in the foot with conditions and comments in their own conference calls saying customers will really only save 20% at best, not 50. Tech press and magentas ate that up. Give a clear and distinct promotion.
  5. Thanks for reminding me of that site. I see they have Dallas, TX 2nd Half report up. Frustratingly, Sprint still trails T-Mobile. And, this was measured with a Spark enabled phone in a Spark market. I don't understand why Sprint would be in last in this market.
  6. I asked this on a social media site. Didn't get much feedback. Here's the reason for my question. My wife tends to either lose her phone or drop it. More the former than later. So, rather getting a right sized phone, I was thinking of getting her a Samsung Mega, something so large it would be harder to misplace or leave behind somewhere. So, are people less likely to drop or lose a large because its size grabs the user attention more?
  7. My thoughts exactly. I thought the Framily plan was genius. It was an easy referral plan to bring people to Sprint. The reward? Very low monthly price. I got 2 people from AT&T and 1 from Verizon to come over. They are senior citizens, so $25/line fit into their limited budget. But again, as others have said, fancy pricing footwork is only going to get you so far. You need a network that delivers. And at this point, Sprint needs one that not just delivers but impresses.
  8. I thought for sure I saw the spark icon spinning on my dad's G2 when I was in Lafayette, LA. Or, does the spark icon appear any time any LTE appears?
  9. You are saying use your Sprint account # as a UPS tracking number? If we pre-ordered in store, will it be shipped via UPS or do we have to pick up in store? Can we pick up early?
  10. Just makes me upset Sprint isn't shipping early. It's a cheap and easy opportunity for good PR. Dear Sprint: Success is when preparation meets opportunity.
  11. Meanwhile, T-Mobile is shipping their Note 4's. Some customers received their's today. Ugh.
  12. That's why I like plans that don't subsidize the phone. Move between phones whenever you like in exchange for lower plan prices. I'm loving the Framily plan.
  13. For those thinking of buying from Best Buy, you must accept a 2 year agreement to get the $200. The Samsung non-BB $200 offer lets you buy the phone on or off contract. I did not have a good experience at BB. I went to cancel at BB because they could not guarantee they could price match Sprint's $720 price (BB sells Note 4 for $800.) and because of the 2 year agreement requirement (I'm on Framily and have no such option.). They first wanted to tell me I could only cancel a pre-order on the same day it was made. Second, they said no refunds on the gift card created for the deposit. They were wrong on both counts. The pre-order agreement says I may cancel at anytime. It also says pre-order cancellation does not affect redeeming the gift card or returning it for a credit. They cancelled the order, but refused to give money back on card. BB does not honor its pre-order agreement. Ordering from Sprint was much easier. Turned in old phone immediately. BuyBack amount when to balance of Note 4. For me, since they put me on EasyPay automatically, was just the tax. And, I got the lower $720 price.
  14. Wait. I thought it was said you could use the gift card for purchase of the phone. I plan to buy mine outright, off contract. My complete plan is to have BB price match Sprint retail price of $720, add tax, apply $50 pre-order card and $200 card to balance, and use credit card to pay remaining balance. Doable?
  15. What if you don't need to put any money down? Can you use the cards to pay the balance down and then finance the remaining balance?
  16. The Best Buy guy told me he wasn't sure they could price match Sprint's price of $720 because he didn't know if the item would have a UMRP. IPhones have them and they can't price match competitors. We checked other Samsung phones and they did not have a UMRP. So, signs point to it being possible to match z Sprint. Any way to or anyone know for sure? EDIT : I'm buying off contract.
  17. You get the card at the time of pre-order? Wow. I thought it would be at the time of purchase. What happens if someone cancels his/her pre-order? Are they going to ask for the card back?
  18. Is this measured by hardware only or hardware and software? I've been told Nexus 5 has top RF test results, but a quick search in the Nexus 5 forum shows it's been mired in reception problems. My N5 reception is better than it ever has been, but I can't say it's the best phone I've had reception with. Bottom line is reception is an equation involving the hardware (phone and towers), the drivers and the network and how well they all play together.
  19. Does it matter if rooted? Custom recovery or ROM? Or, does it just need to turn on and be operational, i.e. buttons working, etc.? Will they price match Sprint? And, this wording from the site sounds like you wouldn't be able to apply card to purchase: "get a $200 Best Buy gift card at time of purchase with trade in of any working smartphone." Does the purchase have to be completed to get the card, or can it be a part of the transaction?
  20. Just to add to the photo taking conversation. http://www.dxomark.com/Mobiles/
  21. Yikes. 3 cons. I've been debating whether to move on from Nexus 5 to this or wait for the mythical Shamu creature. Note 4 seemed like a slam dunk. Now, not so much. Still a great phone however.
  22. Every had to crop a picture? At 8MP, you have very little latitude in cropping until quality is severely compromised.
  23. If the Note 4 is pin and size compatible with Note 3, I don't see why that one would not work. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  24. Read the very tiny fine print. It says eligible phone must be worth $10 or more.
