  1. Mine got worse. I get 3G upstairs in my house, but go downstairs 4get about it . I'm pissed cuz I was informed LTE would blanket 3G coverage. Not 2 mention everytime I ask the same question somebody has 2 say I shouldn't b using it in the house anyway. I should b offloading with WiFi. So I ask the question, should I not make phone calls either in my home and use a landline?

It doesn't work like that. LTE will become as slow as Verizon if you overuse it. You can use but not abuse unlimited data. That means, no unauthorized tethering, or downloading tons of movies. If you are browsing the web that's fine, but as long unless you don't have WiFi at home, there really is no reason to use LTE at home.

  2. One thing I can tell you is, that there are only a few towers in the bronx area, and it does a pretty good job of covering a wide area,(most likely due to less obstruction in the bronx) so I dont see it being a huuuge complication in the outer boroughs to get by with less towers that cover longer distances. If you notice in Midtown (massive high rises other objects and many antennas) the coverage is very weak vs the coverage of the bronx..

I think that if they upgrade at a constant pace, I would be happy. There is no arguing that the hurricane slowed down production. It is going on 3 weeks now and there is still neighborhoods and a couple of buildings on Lower Manhattan without power. I don't blame them for taking so long. I have a feeling that the Sprint contractors will get on the ball as soon as the city is back to normal and you will start seeing upgrades pop up everywhere.

  3. I once got caught in an endless reset. I was able to boot into recovery, but then I had to clear all data in the phone. It told me that my battery voltage was low. Never happened to me again.

  4. A tower near me that I've suspected has Network Vision, has a 1 Capacity, 1 Voice, and 1 Speed Upgrade on the tower. Could that be indicative of the tower being NV'd or are those band-aid fixes. I've suspected that it is NV'd because it is the same tower where one morning I got a ping of 53ms and since then I've been constantly getting speeds of 1.5 mbps and greater.

  5. Oh, one more thing, I read on a Sprint forum, that the original T1 Lines were meant for 2.5G 1xrtt, and 3G EVDO back when it barely used. That gives you a time frame of how long it has been since they upgraded their network. Exact quote:

I can pretty much guarantee based on those speeds that the specific tower the phone was connected to has not been upgradeed yet. A Market is not launched after all towers are upgraded, the Market is launched when a sufficient number are upgraded to make it available for customers, and work continues to upgrade the rest of the towers after it launches, so coverage and everything will gradually improve.

I would like th see the detail screen for those speed tests. Most likely those 200-300kbps speed tests are on EvdoA(or actually eHRPD if the 4G Core in the area is working properly as it should be and the phone is in LTE/CDMA mode). You can see specific tst details by tapping the test you want the details for.

Post-Network Vision towers regularly show 2+mbps speeds sicne the bottleneck with the old equipment 99% of the time is simply the backhaul to get the data back to the main network from each tower. Network Vision requires the backhaul to be a MINIMUM 100mbps with scalability much higher being available from the tower back to the main network/4G core, current backhaul is usually much slower (T1 lines, usually 4-6 now, since it was originally meant for 2.5G 1xRTT and 3G EVDO back in its infancy when few devices utilized it).

  6. Only one site in NYC in the last update. It was a brand new site in Red Hook. You should become a Sponsor so you can see the weekly update maps.

    Robert

I really should, but I am in High School, still without a debit card, If it were up to me, I would be a Sponsor already. And next time I go to Ikea in Red Hook, i will have to search for that tower. Maybe run a couple of speed tests, just to see what 3G is like.

  7. According to this website, " http://gigaom.com/2011/10/25/sprint-plans-lte-advanced-deployment-for-2013/ " Sprint plans on release LTE Advanced in a 10x10 deployment on the 800Mhz spectrum.

Question 1: I know that current phones don't support LTE on 800Mhz, but will current phones like the EVO 4G LTE and SGS 3 be able to access the faster speeds of a 10x10 network?

Question 2: Will they have to do a hardware upgrade on the tower to go from 5x5 to 10x10?

  8. I'm in South Philly and the 3G is meh...Center City it either works or it doesn't...at least the WiFi is decent.

I just wish there was a date (on or around) the LTE would be up...

I was originally told when I bought my GNex back in May that the LTE would be up by the end of the summer, then it moved to November then to January now I read March...

I called Sprint just to see which month they would say & the guy told me my LTE should be working because they're "using Verizon's towers"....

would just like to use what I paid for....

I would figure Sprint would wanna bang out all the larger cities first...LA, NYC, Chicago, Philly, etc...in the big cities there's alot more money to make than in a small suburb of 3,000 people...

    anyway....the wait continues...

Funny though because sites are live in NYC, Chicago, and LA which leaves the question is Philly really that big?

    Just kidding!

Sure enough you'll see LTE any second now.
