Without root, you can easily disable all bloat ware with apps such as ez disabler. It makes samsung phones able to have less bloat than even nexus phones.Well I was weak, I went to Best Buy to see the shiny new toy and broke down and did the pre-order... I truly love my Note 4 but I am ready to get back ahead of the pack on the tech. I get pretty good performance and connectivity but not just missing the CA always bothered me. Now I just have to wait. And hopefully there will be root soon after it releases. I have gotten spoiled with my Viper4Android for audio. That and removing the bloatware are the only real reasons to root for me so far.
Oh and the 256GB card offer is for the newer EVO+ so it is the faster speeds. I was disappointed that the specs were 90 write and 20 read on the samsung site, but the packaging on the cards at BB showed 90 and 90 so that was a relief. I wasn't sure what good a 256 GB card was going to do with such a slow read speed. It is a shame that they left the UFS support out of this go round. The listed specs are on par with the Samsung SSD speed performance.

Japan town in LA is good. The museums are good to like the science center and natural history museum. Someone mentioned the observatory and Hollywood sign which are nice. The Hollywood Hills tour is also good.Going to be in L.A. for a week next month, and I need some suggestions on not-to-be-missed attractions or food while there.
TIA,
David

Lastly, I would try and get out of LA as soon as possible and head to things such as Santa Barbara, Solvang (a Danish town), the beaches such as Laguna Beach, San Diego, etc. I'm not a huge fan of LA because of the traffic and dirtiness but there is light at the end of the tunnel elsewhere around there.

I hope this sentiment isn't shared at Sprint. People don't leave because of 1 Mbps connections which people wouldn't even notice a difference on their phones, they leave because sprint drops to 3g with sub 100 kbps speeds or no connection at all in major metropolitan areas. I can't recommend sprint to anyone in OC or else they won't be my friend for long.Sprint has 300 million pops with LTE and 210 million pops with LTE plus. I think the coverage issue is overblown. Unless, you live in a rural city. Chances are you get LTE coverage. It is NOT Sprint biggest complaint. The most common complaint is Sprint data speeds.

Correct. There are also apps that you can do the same thing as well. Just realize that once you restart the phone, it defaults to auto switching so you have to put in the dialer codes again.I cannot vouch for their efficacy on the Nexus 5X, but others have posted Nexus 6 network selection dialer codes that lock Project Fi to either Sprint or T-Mobile.

I had a similar experience in Orange County where they said there were no plans to fix the areas on the interstate and surrounding my house which would drop to no coverage. It just seems like they have no fight anymore. Then, after I switched off sprint, I receive postcards to come back. Why spend money to get me back when you had an opportunity to keep me in the first place? Also, I keep receiving two postcards at the sign time. They should probably only have one per household.

We should call this what it feels like, this is a Sprint survival move. I don't believe this is under promising and over achieving or some strategic move. PS: I do not want Sprint to fail. No one wins with 3 carriers except big business.

Do yourself a favor and do not get the Nexus 5x. I switched from the phone to a Galaxy S7 Edge and have never been happier. The Nexus 5x is slow, has a washed out screen, poor battery life, and large bezels. I wouldn't get the LG G5 either as the build quality is lacking and the software needs to mature. My next phone will be either an LG G5, Nexus 5X, or an HTC 10. Given all I've heard about all three, I'm leaning toward the HTC 10, but am also waiting to see it in person and what others have to say.

The HTC 10, although I haven't seen one, appears to be good from the reviews I am reading. I'd also consider the Galaxy S7 if I were you. Love mine.

Lol how aggressive Sprint is being with advertising. I see them on TV, the sides of busses, and YouTube. Well done Sprint!

I tend to think that people wouldn't care if they dropped to 2-3 Mbps since all functions of their phone would work the same including Hugh definition videos. My problem, and the reason I left Sprint, was that it would drop from 100 Mbps to unusable speeds or no signal through Orange County. No signals on the main thoroughfares is unacceptable. And then when I would report it they would respond that everything looks good on their side and to check my phone. I knew it wasn't the phone so that just frustrated me.While 200-300Mbps would be a definitely good bicep flex for them, they need to focus on putting small cells everywhere to give everyone ubiquitous 200-300Mbps. 300Mbps on one block in NYC does not forgive 2-3Mbps on another.

Not me, why would you need 3xca when 2xca is more than enough. I get from 50 mbps to around 100 mbps on my note 5 and that's way more than what I need
Logically what you say makes sense, but for a tech enthusiast community that spends a lot of money on a new phone supposed to last at least 2 years and for a community that finds it fun to go tower spotting even with the wife in the car, not having 3x CA will really suck once the speed test photos start rolling in. This will cause us to get the itch and to upgrade only a year into our contract. Also, for people not on Sprint with its big B41 bandwidth pipes, this 3x CA will come in handy for those folks as they see their speeds drop.

I don't expect a county/city that went bankrupt to make smart financial decisions. Heck, they'll probably delay and ask for more money. One would hope. If they don't, that's leaving money on the table.

All cellular data including hangout calls country against you. No bing on or speed test exception applies on Project Fi.So when on the TMobile network, does the speedtest app count against my data allowance on ProjectFi?
So for I have rockin' Sprint's network 99% of the time. Forced it to TMo so I can do some RF comparisons on N5 vs N5x.

I must have missed something. Why the big concern over increasing the T&D ratio when you get speeds over 200 and then discuss the ways to increase upload. Any download and upload over 10 and I am a happy clam. Heck, my home Internet is 3 and I game on Xbox and stream Netflix with ease on my 55 inch. The way I see it Sprint has 5 options.
1. Find a way to do band 25 uplink CA
2. 4x4 MIMO
3. NGN is done so well that the problem never gets out of control.
4. Sprint configures the network to sense a overloaded uplink and switches you to a band with the best uplink.
5. Sprint fails and upload speeds becomes unusable on band 41
Either way there is no easy way out of this but option 4 to me seems to be the best course for the immediate future.

If you notice any bugs, please let us know. I got a little gun shy after the marshmallow preview build proved very buggy.I'm running the N Preview build on my phone. 2 things I noticed immediately are that my phone is picking up Band 25 now which is something it never did. Also SignalCheck Pro is working better than ever.

Haven't received it yet, but the latest March OTA update is supposed to fix the speed and stability issues. Maybe we can use the camera now to actually take pictures reliably? Thanks Google.

Software encryption is enabled by default on the Nexus 5x. If you do a Google search on Nexus 5 versus 5x, it will be blatantly apparent that Nexus 5x is slower than the 5 and probably one of the slowest phones around. Are you in the right thread? Nexus 5x has front facing mono speaker. And how can the Nexus 5x be slower than a Nexus 5x?
Also, the speaker grill problem can also be found via a search. It is not well known but it is definitely not a mono speaker and, if it is, the speaker is faced towards the back of the phone and not towards the grill.

Just moved from project Fi to Tmobile from originally being a sprint customer for over a decade. I'm not bashing sprint as I know it has gotten better in a lot of places, but San Bernardino and the border have really hindered the sprint experience without having B26 in SoCal. I am excited to continue listening to people's experiences in sprint here and will consider returning once B26 and small cells is launched. This is definitely an awesome community. Also, where is our market czar? I can't wait for a dedicated person for the west/southwest and I don't think one has been selected yet.
Project Fi was fun but definitely had it's quirks about it. Switching between carriers only occurs when you lose signal and takes about 45 seconds, missed voicemails when on Sprint on project Fi, and VoLTE not working on Tmobile band 12 which means missed and dropped calls.
Now that I am on tmobile, definitely love HD calling. Usually when talking to people on the phone, we would talk until the other person got frustrated that we couldn't hear each other. No more... Now I can enjoy using my phone as my business phone.

True, but the phone isn't doing much to help itself. I bought my wife and I this phone and it is significantly slower than our old Nexus 5x (thanks Google for unwanted software encryption). Also, the speaker isn't front facing even though it appears to be... you can hear the sound louder from the back than the front. I'm sad I went all in with this phone. And it's Google causing the depreciation

Even though 2020 is so far in the future, I hope sprint deploys equipment today with 5g in mind (example: deploy microwave that can't support the speeds of 5g) or just stops this small cell deployment and focus on a rapid 5g deployment in the future. I'd hate to see a large capital spend now (when the heck are we starting again?) and then sprint takes their time to 5g and blames WiMax as the reason.12/13 Ghz perhaps much higher with a 200 MHz Carrier is so far the plan. 5G wont be commercially available until probably 2020

How does B41 or other Sprint spectrum play into 5g down the road? Is 5g just a very high frequency technology?
-
Very exciting. If this is NGN small cells it is definitely more equipment than I thought would have been necessary though. I thought these things were supposed to be one small module with power going to it... Not separate base units, antennas, and microwave.

Completely agree on this. I just got the feeling sprint and some of the users here don't value advertising and consider it just another cost to get rid of.You don't have to advertise on TV during the Super Bowl to make a big splash. Just ask Oreo, which did it with a Tweet.
Sprint was smart to save its money on this.
-
Although I like the thought of spending more money on their network, smart and effective advertising should never be chopped for any reason because without advertising, you will lose your business. It is dangerous if people get it into their heads that advertising is not something sprint can afford. Look at Tmobile for instance which it's success can be largely attributed to a marketing stunt.I take it no one was paying attention to Sprint on Twitter when they mentioned, that they would rather take the 5 million that it cost for a 30 second commercial on the Super Bowl and use it for the network, they have been on Twitter firing shots the whole time.
