  1. Thanks. Still not able to use Wi-Fi calling, but will deal with that tonight. Another thing that I noticed this afternoon is that SignalCheck Pro isn't showing a data connection when the status bar shows one, albeit a roaming one (which is usually about as good as it gets here at work). One silver lining is that I'm occasionally getting 1X800 voice. I've attached screenshots. I will try and contact the SignalCheck folks and let them see this too.
  2. Got the update last night. Wi-Fi calling isn't working for me, at least at work. When I try to sign in, it asks me to be located for 9-1-1 purposes. Then, when I try to save, I receive an error message telling me "Not available. Unable to connect to a network. Please move to a new location and try again." I will try tonight off of my home network to see if it is just the security settings of our wireless network in the office.
  3. Bought 2 S5's via Amazon, and they should be waiting for me at my house. Think they were $112 each. Going to sell my phones via Glyde. Based on what it looks like I can get from them, even after buying a Lifeproof I should be $40 or so ahead.
  4. I can't even get a good enough 3g signal on the lower level of my house to send text messages or make phone calls most of the time, let alone have a 4g signal. Had to have Sprint send me an Airave. Had to download Google Voice to send text messages from most places in my work as well. It seems like Plantation Road, especially between Colonial and just north of Daniels, is just bad. And the area around the Target Plaza at 41 and Daniels often isn't much better. I'm debating whether to get rid of my Note 2 and get an S5, but not sure it is worth it at this point.
  5. Tablet - Free ($49 if you don't attend a Tablet Tuesday) Activation - $36 25MB plan - $5/month x 24 months Total - $156 ($205 if you pay $49 for the tablet), plus taxes, etc. I get the whole Wi-Fi vs. Data concept. The point I was trying to make is that for someone who is debating tablets and doesn't need much, or anything, in the way of mobile data (even a 1 GB plan isn't going to take you very far unless you're doing a lot on Wi-Fi), the Nexus 7 at $229 with Wi-Fi only is a much better tablet than the Tab 7 with data and Wi-Fi imo.
  6. I looked at it, and the more I did, the less I was all warm and fuzzy about it. After the data, activation, and fees, you're probably in for at least 160 bucks (more like 180-190 I'm thinking). You can get a new Nexus 7 (albeit with Wi-Fi only) for $229 without a contract. Everything I read puts the Nexus head and shoulders above everything in that range. If you need cdma/LTE, different conversation, but I would think you'll also need more than the $5/month data. So, think I'm going the Nexus 7 route.
  7. Unfortunately, it looks (from Sensorly and Sprint's website) like my house is in the middle of a "hole" between a couple of towers. I'm in between Metro and Six Mile Cypress to the west and east, and Daniels and Colonial to my south and North. I can get LTE less than 1/2 a mile from my house (not spectacular speeds yet), but on the first floor of my home I can barely make a call. Not as worried about the data since I have wifi, but call quality is bleh. Probably will have to go and talk to them about an Airave. It has been nice to be out and about getting LTE, though. Will be even better as time goes on, hopefully!
  8. Was that Colonial tower the one between Cleveland and Metro just north of Page Field, or the one further east toward Winkler and 6 Mile Cypress?
  9. Excellent! Live just off Plantation, pretty much in between that tower and the one off of Daniels. Looking forward to mapping them when they go live. It has been a long time coming! Thanks for the photos!
  10. Is this the tower off of Colonial that was referred to the other day?
