  1. Oh, I definitely want it...I just missed out on the pre-order...now I can't find one anywhere. By the time I happened to think to myself "I need to go ahead and pre-order"...it was end-October and too late to do anything. I don't know when they stopped taking pre-orders, but I checked all the sites, Gamestop, Best Buy, Wal-Mart and Amazon...none had them avail to pre-order as of October 28 or so. Now I guess my only shot is to wade the night and try to make it for a 12:01am release with Walmart or Gamestop..
  2. Thanks. It was very, VERY unexpected...and it hit me quite hard and even after I came back home I still had some issues..I guess dealing with it mentally was such a strain...My wife and I never hardly argue or have problems..and we've been married going on 16 years now...but the day after we returned from Louisiana, I made her cry. I just wasn't myself, didn't feel right, and was being a total a--hole to her. Highly unusual for me...and I told her the next day that I just didn't feel right the previous day. With all the added drama of just losing him suddenly, there were HUGE problems --- or, mistakes made by the pathologist and coroner...like leaving him out for so long that an autopsy couldn't be performed...and forcing us to resort to only having a closed casket funeral...so much happened in that one-week span that it just ...I dunno... I don't wanna bring the moral of this topic down with all the sadness surrounding this, but I appreciate the kind thoughts extended our way. No one here knows my entire history, but if you did, you would know why I took his death especially hard with the life experiences I've faced. Digiblur might've heard something about the St. Tammany parish coroner being under investigation...I'm not sure if the news in his area covered that story. I know we were watching the news in the motel while down in Slidell and it came on about the coroner - the day after the services.
  3. I guess I waited too late to try and pre-order...we had a family emergency that caused us to have to take a trip to Louisiana and a 3 day stay at a motel...so I forgot to keep an eye on PlayStation with all that going on. To add to that, it was the sudden death of my brother...so I was kinda not thinking about playing games.. Does anyone know if there will be extra stock on release day aside from pre-order?I would think it's sensible to have some extra...but not sure. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
  4. It's my understanding that this is on a case-by-case basis...they don't just drop everyone across the board who incurs over 300mb (or 100mb) of roaming data do they? I mean...they have to look at the account in question, like in my case.. Airave working fine = no roaming hardly at all on my account... But...Galaxy S3 + Airave 2.5....I have a hard time staying on my Airave. When I don't hit my Airave, I roam on the VZW tower just up the road...and I've tried everything ...down to relocating the entire Airave to another part of my home...thinking it was something to do with the GPS antenna causing it not to allow my GS3 and my wife's GS3 to connect to it... But we still hit 1X data...until Wifi picks up. I've tried encapsulating my entire "area" where we mostly see drops in wifi...but I wasted a chunk of money buying Ubiquiti devices that I couldn't find any help in setting up... And i'm still stuck with weak spots in Wifi signal mostly when we go out to our cook-out area and the bonfire hole...we spend lots of time in the yard when the kids are home, especially this time of year, and for the life of me I can't get the Airave to reach. I even called them and had them issue a ticket to expand the coverage to the max ..but we both roam outside.
  5. I haven't done much with Sensorly since I left headed to Slidell for my brother's funeral on October 10. I dunno..I've lost interest in lots of things since then and just haven't had the urge to do much...but it's good to see Sprint working so fast to get LTE up and going in areas that are so rural, like the Sylacauga area. I had LTE at my dads, and at the Microtel on 1090 in Pearl River...and even on the West Pearl when we went out in the boat. I just wasn't thinking and didn't map anything on our travels.
  6. no, it would've barely got to 50% complete... Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
  7. What's the thoughts on the suits against Charlie? Looks like they may have him backed in a corner... Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 4
  8. Thanks!! I figured it would take till around..Thanksgiving or so before we see the rewards card...I think by then I'll be ready to take advantage of the Upgrade program...depends on what's out in the triband department by then. If I'm not mistaken, the LGG2 drops Oct 25, correct?
  9. Has anyone referred family/friends and got in on the referral rewards deal?? I just sent over my wife's mom yesterday so I'm going through all the motions now...
  10. I just looked at the headlines, I figure they all add their own filler statements in between the actual quotes from M. Son and what he told them in Japan...but from what I could see, they essentially had the same quotes from him in both.
  11. That's been posted twice already just a few posts back...
  12. I'm heading to (almost) Trussville today, and i think there is some more mapping I can do during my trip...this was one of the first areas in the state, aside from Tuscaloosa, to get a live LTE site.
  13. Yeah, I actually have a great respect for the Japanese, and their culture and heritage Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 4
  14. Actually, there wasn't anything remotely close to racist meant by my statement, but feel free to twist it that way if you like. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 4
  15. He was actually saying "lock jaw" in a Japanese-esque, Jackie Chan-voice.
  16. Is there a 'normal' per se? I thought they adjusted the antennas depending on the area and population... My wife, at the plant, is getting LTE signal in "higher" places (up in the control room, further up the elevation than normal)...and I bet she's probably 10 miles or more from the nearest LTE tower. Sensorly shows her "dot" on the mapping she tried to do, but when she left the control room, she lost it. And looking at the closest tower that has been completed, I can't decide which one she's getting that LTE from. They are both pretty far away.
  17. If this were a sponsor area, i'd post proof, but I know a spot just up the road from me that has a -103 LTE signal, and that spot is 8 miles from the tower. Actually, 8.9 miles, but that's driving distance. As the crow flies...6..probably... I'm wondering if maps has a way of showing ATCF distances...but either way, 3 miles? no way.
  18. Looks like Columbiana is getting LTE, (or Wilsonville). My wife just called me from work and told me...so I got her to text me a couple of screenshots:
  19. The only updates I've had for PS3, and I get them AS they come out, are for new features or security...which the past 6 have only been minor (we're on 4.46 now) It's not that often, as you might think, that Sony pushes firmware. The last 3 have only been April, March, October. Here's a list: (most of these were small, from 4.00 to 4.10 was under 30mb, 4.10 to 4.11 was under 10mb, etc) The only big updates they have are full version changes, like from 3.73 to 4.10...when the first number changes, it's a major change, with new features, the second number is usually a new app or changes in the XMB, and the last number indicates a small security patch or add-on) Version 4.41 April 25, 2013 Version 4.40 March 21, 2013 Version 4.31 October 30, 2012
  20. I'm asking because I seriously don't know, but some have mentioned all the things you get with the 360 currently....like HBOgo and such... If you pay for Xbox subscription..whatever the level is, where you can get that stuff, do you get HBOgo viewing privileges with that? Or, like with my Android app, do you have to currently be subscribed with your satellite/cable in order to view it? I know many people use their xbox/ps3 for media and things besides gaming...but the most I've ever done with my PS3, and I mean ANY of the 3 Ps3s I've had, is watched ONE two-hour movie on Netflix. I have satellite on the same TV as my PS3, so if I wanted to watch TV, I would use the device I pay monthly bills to do so with...but when I want to game, I flip on the PS3, In fact, I can't remember the last time I turned on the Ps3 to do something besides play CoD;BO2, or Battlefield 3... But I wondered since I saw that if MS included viewing subs with the 360-xbox live sub, or if that was separate... It would be great if it was an all-inclusive thing, but I'm sure I would have heard something about it if this was true..but had to ask... Same could be said for PS3 tho, if the $49 I paid for PSN+ included Netflix, Amazon, etc as part of it..like a licensing deal with all PS3 users, so they could use the device only to access unlimited streaming with those apps for the PS3...but I know that's not part of the PSN+... I actually only paid for 1 of my 2 PSN+ subs....got one year free with my white PS3 purchase back in March...
  21. Both have their positives and negatives, but the entire console experience is what hooks me with Sony. I can use my ps3 as anything I want, movies, games, streaming device, etc. And they've only furthered that with ps4 Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 4
  22. Is it just me, or do we have a multitude of people who are hardcore to one or the other?...in the same manner that we're biased to Sprint, many of us here seem to be biased to one or the other in consoles as well...which there's nothing wrong with. Back when the PS3 outage occurred, I was nearly livid with some people that started dogging Sony for letting it happen...but ANON was firing off targeted attacks at not just Sony, but others as well. Even the Dept of Justice got hit, the NSA...they all were targeted by Anon's DDoS attacks...because so many people could download the LOIC software and join them with near transparency... I remember the Westboro attack was the only one that I really agreed with them on...the others....Sony is a company, out to make money...just like Microsoft is. Sony prosecuted someone who hacked their console and released the hack for money...what were they supposed to do, offer him a job? Sony has a track record of bringing in people like that who are of questionable background, but not so much with folks who hack their investment and use it for financial gain...selling those USB dongles was what brought the wrath of Sony...not creating the hack...plus it was discovered that an inside person at Sony released the keys that were used to open up the system. At any rate, I feel about Sony the way I feel about Sprint...they have been in the low spot with the PS3 not doing so well, and I'm glad I was on PS+ and playing along during their high-times for the life of the PS3..it's been a great console with some really great games...
  23. It wasn't until sony made their E3 presentation that MS decided to pull back on all the crap they had in store for the Nextbox...like DRM and always on...if they can suddenly fix it with a software patch, then they can suddenly add it back with a software patch. You gotta figure they are going to recoup that lost revenue SOMEWHERE... Then, compare studios. Microsoft 1st party devs: 343 Industries Lionhead Turn 10 Rare Bigpark Black Tusk Lift London Victoria (MS) ...not sure if anymore have joined the flock, but that's the big names. then, compare that to Sony's 1st party devs: Guerilla Games Naughty Dog Santa Monica Quantic Dream Housemarque Insomniac Polyphone Digital Sucker Punch Evolution Media Molecule SCE Bend SCE Cambridge SCE Japan SCE London San Diego SCE Liverpool Team ICO ...then you have the 3rd party devs, and the PSN / XBLA devs... But just comparing devs, Sony has come a LONG way from where they were with 1st party studios back in '07...and that is what gets games on the shelf. Personally, I'm thinking the Ps4 will put Sony back where they should be...Microsoft rushed to beat Sony with Xbox360 and had a multi-million dollar mishap because of it. I don't know of anyone who has an Xbox from that first year's production run that can still say it's going strong. My brother in law had the xbox thing...was big into Microsoft and constantly insisted it was better than Sony.. Then, his first Xbox had RRoD. Fixed by MS. His second had DVD prob...fixed by MS. His 3rd HDD prob...fixed by MS also. He bought a fourth, had the same DVD problem as the 2nd one, and put it in the closet. When I bragged to him that I still had the same Ps3 that I bought back in 08...compared to him being on his 4th Xbox in 3 years...he went and bought a PS3 too. And many other people had the same issues with Xbox...maybe their "refurbs" just weren't that great...but everyone I know who got a RRoD and sent for a refurb had trouble with them... Just as a comparison, I never had any trouble with a PS3 like that..and i am on the 3rd PS3 since they came out. The 2nd PS3 is still running, in the den...and the kids play it. The first one, I just retired...because I wanted a new one and didn't have a use for 3 PS3's when I got the white slim back in February...so, instead of keeping it around, I salvaged parts and threw the fat PS3 away... But it still worked fine when I trashed it...I just wanted a new one for the energy savings and heat dissipation....after 5 years of harsh gaming, I figured it would eventually have problems, and I didn't want it to give me issues when I wanted to play..and have to worry about buying a new one when I didn't have the extra money...so I made the decision to buy 2 new PS3s within a 1 year period so I could retire the 40gb fat.
  24. PSN has never been down for over a month, even when it was hacked..by Anon. But I'm sticking with the Sony name. I'm on my third ps3, the kids have the second ps3, and I just retired the first one because I wanted a slim. I removed its hard drive tho and finally threw it away last year...but my 40gb fat never had any prob except for a laser replacement, I used to do 16 hr killzone and battlefield 2 bad company sessions...for days at a time.. And now I'm doing 8hr sessions of battlefield 3 or cod black ops 2 every day almost. I'm even thinking about waiting to get the new grand theft auto because it's so close to ps4 release...not sure yet. My slim sat above that steaming hot directv dvr for those sessions in my media center, and so did my fat ps3...neither ever had heat issues. Have you ever vacuumed the exhaust ports or blew them with canned air? Just under the eject button you can shoot air in, and it comes out the back vent, same for the hard drive cover.
