Hi all! I'll be in the Milwaukee and Mequon areas in October. How's the Sprint service up that way now?

I call T-Mobile customer service they said it's not available yet and not even prepaid it's only available 4 customers with good credit
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
That does not make sense - class A is the group with the best credit.
-
Those plans are not available for class A post paid accounts or prepaid

Why wouldn't they be available for class A post paid? That doesn't even make sense.

That's great to hear! Sprint is very clearly making good progress, with much anecdotal evidence of that here on S4GRU. T-mobile seems to be crumbling under the weight of their subscriber growth and spectrum crunch; adding unlimited LTE hotspot service will only serve to compound the problem.

The audio argument is really tedious. If you want higher audio quality, pay for the premium data. Not really that hard.

Agreed. Can we stfu on the cell phone audio? I come here to read about Sprint, not cell phone sounds.

Wow, you guys are a bunch of downers! What makes you suddenly think Sprint is failing again when the last quarterly report looked so good? I've been a (continuous) Sprint customer since 2012 and first used the service in 2009 and it has never been better. Sprint is doing a good job of keeping current customers happy, which is the only way you stop the bleeding in any business. Now, they are building on that and attracting new customers. Nothing has changed since the last quarterly report. Sprint is on a very positive trajectory. Have a little faith.

What are people's thoughts on the Tmobile One + plans?
I like it now that it's been tweaked. It's simple and easy to understand, and with the tweaked hotspot it's still very useful to those who need that feature. I'm a bit skeptical of allowing unlimited hotspot use, even at "just" 3G speeds on the non-plus plan, as I don't think that's a story that will end well. T-Mobile is going all-in for a market share grab, but I'm just not sure their network will support it in the long run. So, with an 18-month time horizon, I see it as a "plus" for Sprint.

I don't know if anyone else brought it up but Sprint is offering 5GB of tethering with the new plan.

WOW. That's fantastic!

Speaking strictly for myself... <snip>
Fair point. I hadn't thought of it from this angle, but from a single-line comparison standpoint it does look weak. I guess we'll finally see whether pricing or "unlimited" wins. Frankly, I think pricing is still a bigger factor for many people. With AT&T's price move earlier this week and Sprint's price move today, all of this actually bodes very well for Sprint if price is indeed king.

T-Mobile better executed this plan than Sprint.
Bingo. Legere may act a fool for fun, but he's not an idiot.

Speaking of AT&T, I highly doubt they'll have an unlimited data plan without the television service required provision.
Admittedly, I am skeptical myself. The only reason I give it any credence at all is that this person has had good info for me 100% of the time.

You're AT&T rep. doesn't know what he is talking about. It is more likely unlimited will be going away, than it is to expand.

No, this is not a consumer rep of whom I am speaking. But that's all I can say.

Anyone hear about at&t matching sprint plans? My friend and his wife were going to switch over to sprint but apparently at&t matched whatever sprint was offering and gave them unlimited data without having direct TV. I find it a bit fishy myself he is known to bs a bit, but it kinda has me wondering however. Sad part is he is always bitching about losing data in the most random parts around town where me being on Sprint I have great service so he has me a bit confused lol.

Could be true. My AT&T rep keeps telling me the DirecTV requirement for unlimited will be going away soon - "this fall." Has been saying that since about March. The rate matching would just be a Retention Dept. decision - that one is even easier to believe.
-
Cricket actually gives unlimited st 8 Mbps, no throttling or downgrading to 2G involved.Darn I didn't know getting 5gb of high speed then getting knocked down to 2G was unlimited data. What was I thinking.

Sorry they are 6s and 6s Plus. So as long as I pay them off I can get out of my contract which has 18 months left?
If they're on installment, then you don't have a contract. So you can leave whenever you wish.

Oh noes! Not life circa 2002 BS -- Before Smartphones.
Walkman. FM radio. MP3 player. Whistling while you work.

Whistle while you work??? I don't know, I've seen what happens:

Sprint needs to get a move on, coverage wise: http://www.cnet.com/news/t-mobile-vows-to-match-verizons-coverage-in-next-12-months/
LOL. Will believe this when I see it. In the markets I frequent, T-Mobile service is still very uncompetitive against the other 3 big players, including Sprint.
-
Nielson also has Sprint customers as the least satisfied with the network by a mile. Sprint stock may start dropping today. Just shows that Sprint still has boat loads of work to do and should be spending MORE on the network instead of basically nothing.
As a Sprint customer, I am MORE satisfied with their network than Verizon's or T-Mobile's. And I have active accounts with all 4. Keep in mind, satisfaction ratings are so subjective - there are so many variables that can affect the outcome of satisfaction ratings, including things such as the device, geographic location, and literally hundreds more. Sprint's not yet where they need to be, but they're closer than they've ever been.

Anyone know why Open World cannot be added to the HTC 10? I can add it to all of the other devices on my Sprint account. The Sprint reps I've talked to have no idea why it can't be done, but can only tell me that it cannot be done.
-
Higher end to start at $350? That's not too bad. Are the rumors still pointing to both being made by HTC?

I think a lot of it is being driven by T-Mobile's earnings call.
T-Mobile said that July's subscriber gains are already ahead of sprint's 2Q new users.
Perhaps. But looking at volume, it is indisputable that much of the upward price action for S yesterday was due to shorts covering their positions. The decline today is a bit of that activity letting off steam plus, as you say, some selloff because of TMUS results.
-
Taking a huge drop today. Down 6%
Expected - lots of shorts to cover yesterday, which pushed it higher than otherwise "natural."

I, too, have owned every HTC flagship since the original Evo 4G (WiMax) and never had issues like this. Love my 10.

Ok, I'm going to clear up some misconceptions I've seen here on this page, because they're bugging me and I can't keep biting my tongue:
1. On the compressed video - Sprint used to compress video on the ED plans, including ED1500. I know, I had this plan at one time. They limited streams to something like 500k or 600k. This was in the fine print. So the fact that video is compressed on the new unlimited plans really does not matter - it's just like the original ED, even if ED is no longer compressed. What Sprint is doing to help you out above and beyond the ED plans is giving you an option to stream higher rate video if you so choose. Of course it comes at a higher cost!!!
2. There is an assumption someone made that the ED plans were at least at one time profitable. Of course, there is absolutely no proof of this. Sprint has never reported their profitability by service plan. Sprint has not been profitable for several years, and this situation accelerated after the introduction of the ED plans - in fact, one could reasonably conclude that the ED plans contributed to ARPU and net income declines.
