Like it? I LOVE it! Literally the best phone I've ever owned. Used to be an Apple fanboi, but this one just blows the iPhone out of the water. Absolute best phone you can get, especially the H/K model. And don't believe the camera reviews. I've gotten some fantastic shots out of this one....not perfect, but definitely no worse than the iPhone 5S or Lumia 1520 I've owned. Was going to post a few photos here, but doesn't look like we can attach files to posts. :(

  2. <snip>

I'm actually more optimistic about a stand alone Sprint now than I have at any point since the deal with SoftBank closed. If Tmo is firing across Sprint's bow again, it's because they realize they are having to compete again with them.

Boy, do I agree with that! Probably shared this before - was a faithful Sprint user until about April 2010. Service started getting crappy in my region. Tried them again temporarily in the fall of 2011 (October, maybe) and again in December 2013. TERRIBLE both times. Used all three of AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile before I came back to Sprint. The difference in Sprint's service between even six months ago and today is like night and day. I finally went back to Sprint for good in early May 2014 after joining this site and seeing their progress with upgrades over several months. It's been said too many times by Sprint and has been untrue, but this time it's true: they've made the necessary investments to ensure their network is leaps and bounds above everyone else's when upgrades are completed. There was a lot of temporary pain for enormous gain now.

Here in Richmond, VA, comparing Sprint's network as it stands now to AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile....they can easily surpass all three if upgrades proceed for the next 6 months as they have for the last 6. Having witnessed T-Mobile come into this market and do the same, there's no reason why Sprint cannot or will not. The breadth of voice coverage and 3G data coverage is already worlds better than both AT&T and T-Mobile. And the LTE tuning where it is available is almost out of this world (something I couldn't say for T-Mobile): I can consistently and reliably pull over 20 Mbps down on a Band 26 or Band 41 connection with a signal strength worse than -110 dbm.

So for the first time, I, too can say that I don't want to see the merger go through. Things are about to get very interesting. Let's see what happens with two mavericks.

  3. Just something to keep in mind....this comes directly from someone in the know regionally who was kind enough to share this info with me ...when a new LTE site starts broadcasting or shows up as 3G/4G on Robert's maps, there is still about 60 days' worth of optimization work on that tower that must take place. Remember, Sprint has not yet added Richmond to their list of 4G launched markets....there is still a lot of testing and optimization going on for both NV 3G and 1900 MHz LTE. The earliest we'd see an 80% launch is end of July.  Full Spark rollout (triband) is TARGETED for end of November of this year...provided weather and other factors (looking at you, backhaul providers) cooperate. I know things feel frustrating even still but a tremendous amount of progress has been made in RVA since just December of 2013. We are the last major East Coast U.S. market to receive NV1, which Sprint is really trying close out nationwide. Good things are right around the corner....I promise.

  4. Thats completely against policy. Corporate employees have been written up and threatened with termination if this practice continues by upper management. Though several retailers and shady corporate reps in Indianapolis are still doing it i know.

Hmmm. Then I have nothing. Lol

  5. How did those people get into your Framily. Up until yesterday, just my wife and I were in ours, then this morning I logged in and we have exactly 10 Framily members....literally overnight. :o I'm certainly not complaining, but curious as to how this happened. Is Sprint helping folks build their Framilies by automatically adding new subs to existing groups?

  6. Anyone have any info on when 800mhz might be coming to richmond? I live out by lake chesdin in chesterfield and have awful coverage but I remember looking on sprints site and seeing that Nextel had me in the greatest signal strength color.

After a very insightful conversation with an insider yesterday, I got a lot of good info on progress and timeframes in the Richmond area....including info on why some LTE towers (including Clear B41) aren't broadcasting yet even though they've been accepted. To answer your question: November (as long as the nice weather holds out) We'll have full Spark tri-band service in the Richmond market by November.
