Thanks, Robert! My poor wife has been on the phone with the insurance company (which I'm questioning what we're paying for, at this point....) all morning. They do NOT want to have to deal with me. I'm just not a nice person anymore. 

Hoping to be able to donate again soon. Just got a bill for $10k in medical expenses last night upon getting home from work, so needless to say ALL of my spending plans are in the air at this point. Economic recovery, schmovery. Womp womp. But hoping to send at least a little your way soon.

Exactly! And this is the source of concern for T-Mobile users - there's no transparency. Justified or not, T-Mobile subscribers will whip themselves into a frenzy, and a certain segment will take action (such as switching to another carrier). 

This is for top 3% and only on congested sites when they are congested.

Yeah, not according to Reddit. We'll see.

The biggest appeal is fast data speeds @ unlimited levels.  T-Mobile is great for that, in metro areas.  People with Sprint are often budget oriented to begin with.  The rate of people switching to Verizon/AT&T would be lower than to T-Mobile.

Will be interesting to see how T-Mobile's new throttling policy affects both their subscriber growth and overall subscriber numbers. Have spent some time thinking about and analyzing both. Particularly in regards to customers added within the past 2 years, stickiness is low. This is due to 2 reasons:

1. Not a longtime customer, so less brand loyalty
2. More importantly, the very equipment installment plans that T-Mobile introduced to attract customers make it a lot easier to leave the carrier

Throttling is VERY Uncarrier. I am curious as to how they will address this from a marketing standpoint. I understand the necessity of throttling, but their customers don't - and won't.

I would expect to see these porting rations turn almost completely around very quickly - within just a quarter or two. Doubly so as Sprint continues to improve and expand its network at a very rapid pace. In-building penetration with Sprint is still worlds better than T-Mobile in non-700 MHz markets (such as Richmond, VA). As the Sprint network further evolves, it is going to leave the T-Mobile network in the dust behind it.

Not trying to get off topic, but I wouldn't get too wigged out over these numbers. They won't last. DT wants to make money.

Has Tmo discussed their average per user data consumption lately?    That would be interesting to know, given how they've grown and invited data hogs.  (Remembering Legere's porn comment a year or two ago).    Would like to know what kind of consumption the top 3% are doing. 

I'd have to imagine the top 3% are using obscene amounts of data. I used to routinely use 25GB+ when I was with T-Mobile and I know many others who also did. Of course, that's nothing compared to the 70GB+ that others are claiming in the Reddit thread. I think when T-Mobile brought back their truly unlimited data offering four years ago, they started receiving all of the Sprint abusers who use their phones' data connections as home Internet plans. It's unfortunate. Even now, I typically use between 6GB and 20GB on Sprint each month, but with no issues. Glad I came back to Sprint from T-Mobile - the experience is far better from a service standpoint now in Richmond, VA.

This is a nice perk - I just added it to my plan.

 

Hopefully they don't take it away or start charging for it later.

I think as long as T-Mobile is offering it at no charge, Sprint will as well. Hopefully, it'll take place at the other big two carriers at some point in the future, as well. International roaming has long been ridiculously high priced. You wouldn't believe what I paid in Bermuda last year for cell service so I could check up on the kid back home! Cannot wait for Sprint to add additional countries.

I ended up buying another G Flex 2. lol. Working a lot better than my first, but man oh man does the battery drain fast. May exchange this one.

Update from my end, as well: had to finally get rid of mine after spending HOURS working with Sprint trying to get it fixed. Dropping calls like a mofo. Sprint couldn't figure out why, but apparently a somewhat widespread issue with the G Flex 2, at least in this area. So did not swap it for another. Also got to be quite laggy; would reset, then laggy again after a few days. Again, no determinable cause. Can't recommend this device now, as much as I want to.

I'm very interested in hearing battery reports. GSMArena is reporting very medicore battery results compared to other phones with that battery capacity.

Honestly, it's about the same as the G3....not stellar, but not quite as bad as the iPhone 5, 5S, or 6.

Pictures don't do this thing justice. Beautiful device. Works fantastically. No overheating issues at all. Great radios. Will update more as I use it more.

How far along are tower upgrades in Richmond? I was in the Church Hill neighborhood and MCV campus and had LTE drop multiple times to 3G and had multiples times when "No service" appeared on my phone. While some parts of downtown had speeds I was satisfied with, I was disappointed I was getting DL/UL speeds of less that 5 Mbps for the majority of the locations I was in, especially since Richmond has Spark and I have a tri-band device. Is this what we are to expect from Sprint's Spark coverage?

Nah, it's still very much "in progress" here in the RVA. They are nowhere near close to completion. I am in regular contact with both Sprint employees and contractors who are responsible for the network development in the area, so can say with certainty it'll get much better. Now, as for when exactly this will occur - I cannot say, but for my sake (and all of yours) I am hoping it is soon! My understanding is there are still several towers with backhaul delivery needs, but the job at this point primarily consists of optimization and any site adds that may come down the pike.

True, though it was positioned a bit down market (plastic build). Just interesting to me to see a new E-series phone that's clearly positioned above (not below or even at) the M-series level. I think it's great - just wishing they'd bring it to Sprint!

The E8 was released on Sprint https://shop.sprint.com/mysprint/shop/phone_details.jsp?deviceSKUId=83500080 but I don't think it was a big seller, so who knows.

Good point. Though, where the E8 was positioned downmarket from the M8, the E9 appears to be positioned above the M9. Very curious, indeed.

So far, I've only seen mention of this device being released in China...at the end of March (so, very soon). Any word on whether or not it'll land in the US and (even better) on our favorite yellow carrier? The specs on this thing look pretty outrageous.
