  1. I have the custom PRL to go on LTE as soon as it lights up. Been around the San Juan, Guaynabo and Cataño area and no sight of eHRPD, but then again, none of those cities have been mentioned as going live.

work will probably start soon in these areas, if it hasn't already... it's just a matter of time before the LTE indicator starts lighting up on our phones, maybe even while they're testing the install

  2. Looks like you don't even have EVDO there.

I just don't know what to think... I got the Evo LTE in May, but I've noticed some issues with it getting stuck on 1x on and off since July or August, we also have an original Evo 4G and a 3D at home, and those don't seem to have those problems.

right now the solution seems to just keep on keeping on, hopefully NV is close to rolling out in the area, like kendog mentioned

    thanks again everyone!

  3. today I feel like throwing my Evo LTE against a wall, it simply will not connect to EVDO.

numerous profile and PRL updates, and even ##786# factory resets later, it's still connected to 1xRTT... short of returning it to stock and getting it to a store (which I'm trying to avoid), anybody have any ideas?

having issues all the way from Hato Rey to Bayamon, so I'm thinking it's more a handset issue, rather than a network problem

  4. is there any info or estimates as to how many sites Sprint has in PR or the PR/VI market? just trying to roughly guess-timate how long until I see guys working on the tower near my house !

edit: just read it in the comments for the main PR article, just in case anyone's wondering, Robert posted: "

266 in the market. 14 of them are in the USVI."

    thanks again Robert!!

  5. Because I got 4 replacement Nexus phones and they all had issues. I'm taking the Epic 4g touch because my mother has one and it has been solid.

My upgrade is due soon so I won't miss out on much.

Sure it doesn't have LTE, but NV is helping it. Also I rather have a solid ICS phone with a 4.5 inch screen over a tiny phone with a mediocre screen and android 2.3(yes LG Viper, I'm pointing at you!)

Also, I got sprint to ship me an airave, which should arrive tomorrow :)

that doesn't sound so bad, then! the Airave is a huge help when at home and it seems the network's better in your area than mine, good luck with the new phone !

  6. An Epic 4g touch (GS2) is more of a sidegrade/minor upgrade in terms of performance. Great for areas where you're not seeing NV/LTE till next year but have wimax at least but in an active LTE deployment market...hmm..

Also believe that Evo 4g LTE has a bunch of connectivity issues if reading around these parts and other areas give any hints. In fact, i believe robert (s4gru) wrote about it in one of the past articles.

it'd probably be more useful if we had WiMax coverage down here, but there's only the randomly located protection sites

  7. I went to Aguadilla today and tested the speeds using my evo 4g I got 1.3mb down and using my nexus right next to it I got 100kbps and a ton of delayed text messages.

I gave up and agreed to switch the Nexus to the Epic 4g Touch. Sprint will be swapping it on wednesday when the refurb unit arrives.

I gave the Nexus a fair chance but after having it replaced 4 times I simply gave up on it. Sprint has serious issues with the way the network communicates with that specific phone.

that doesn't sound like a fair trade, sounds a bit more like a downgrade, the Epic 4G Touch does not have LTE, right? nonetheless, I hope you have a better experience with the Epic, I know what it's like stuck with sub-200k speeds

  8. They're installing everything, as soon as the site is accepted as completed, it should have lte equipment installed.

It doesn't mean LTE will be up.

The problem isn't EVDO speed, is the backhaul, before the mass smartphone euphoria on sprint (pre EVO 4G), sprint internet was great around the island, i remember using EVDO rev a pcmcia cards with over 2mb and my ppc-6700 wasn't rev a. but was fast enough, but the number of smartphone users was minimal, i remember paying 600 cash for windows mobile phones, when people was still using moto razors.

+1 on that, I used to get 1.7 Mbps on average when I had my Touch Pro, and still around 1 Mbps when I had the Hero. the smartphone adoption rate has been very noticeable, reflected in the decline of speeds to even dial-up speeds in some places.

  9. It actually allowed me to add it on my Gnex(have the promo $10 google gave for free) but I only got the google prepaid card, havent tried a personal one

Just don't know what kind of places accept NFC google wallet

only NFC terminals I've seen, have been at Walgreens. I actually spent $6 of the $10 on the Google card at some vending machines in Orlando during the summer, coolest thing ever!

haven't been able to add a personal card, which does work for purchasing from the Play Store, I just may end up calling their 800 number and see if they can help,
