the bars only show voice strength (1x), not data
-
That information is correct. That is why AT&T has the same problem in PLA
hey megabyte, thanks for confirming.
-
well inside the mayaguez mallyou can get from 9 to 12 megs at the aguadilla mall about 15meg....lets wait and see they yshould use picocells there no?
the thing is that it makes waaay too much sense, and thus it's not what they'll do...
also, I had read somewhere (don't know how much of it is true!), that Plaza's owners/management (Fonalledas family & company) in exchange for allowing telco's placing picocells inside the mall, wanted a cut (huge cut, actually, almost 50% if I recall correctly) of the cell companies revenues from calls placed from within the mall

Personally, I think they'll use the same line they always do when releasing a new major Sense version, that the hardware is not up to the task. I experienced this on both the original Evo and the Evo 3D.
it's also quite probable that there will be ported ROMs with it.

So basically anything that's not officially announced is just undergoing testing? It's just that I get LTE at home and during my commute to work every day early in the morning but there is never any LTE available in any of the spots I've mapped in the morning when I drive back past 6PM. This is in Carretera 849 from Rio Piedras to Saint Just.

it's safe to assume that... let's remember that the buildout in the Metro area hasn't been completed yet

@miguelfp That's awesome news about la Poli! Tho closer to Plaza I'm still not seeing any (not inside Plaza clearly as that's just a black hole, are they purposely avoiding installing repeaters?).
I don't know where I heard this, or if there's any truth to it, but somebody told me that the reason that there's basically no reception in Plaza is that Plaza's management wanted a (big) cut of the phone companies' profits stemming from repeaters inside the mall.

Definitely better coverage today in Hato Rey, first time I've connected to LTE inside classrooms in La Poli, serving site ID is #422
Nowhere near 30 Mbps speeds, though

awesome! thanks for the status report hehe
EDIT: adding to the post, LTE sighting near UPR-Bayamon again, this time Serving Cell reported was #53

Yesterday I connected to LTE in Rio Hondo while taking the highway exit to the mall (no, I wasn't driving), and at the Food Court there as well
-
Anyone else get this text message
yup, I got it yesterday as well, not from that sender, though
-
I really don't know either, but considering that I took the readings near UPR-Bayamon, the tower near Plaza Guaynabo is a bit far from here... kinda skeptical that that's the site serving me LTE
nonetheless, I'm just happy to see LTE being lit up closer to home, and I still think that the PR/VI market could/should be 100% complete before April
-
then I'm impressed with its TX power lol

Can you tell me what RSRP reading are you getting?
Is on that same menu.
RSRP -108, RSRQ -7 while standing by a window.

Wow sprint was kind of fast upgrading the eastern side of the island. I remember checking a week ago on network.sprint.com and there wasn't anything announced for Fajardo and Luquillo. Today or yesterday they listed all of Fajardo and Luquillo with NV 3g complete. ....yet the rio hondo site in bayamon is quiet
something must be happening with that site, it's been a while...

Serving cell is 102, Base ID is 18307 for 1x

not really, but if I could get some instructions, I'd be happy to find out and share the info
-
this morning there were a couple of trucks at the UPR-Bayamon site, LTE was lit up in a limited capacity when I came back home, but I don't know if it's from that specific site or another nearby one.
-
NV rollout isn't even complete, yet why are we worrying about getting or not getting service on the 800 Mhz band? Let's enjoy the new network for a while, instead.

there probably haven't been any inspections or the sites inspected did not pass; it's been mentioned that the inspectors are not local and some traveled home for the Holidays.

The 4g signal wasn't coming from the Caribbean Cinemas site, it was my mistake thinking it did. I am connected to it on 1x for voice and have a -60 signal (great voice coverage). LTE was coming from another site since it kept dropping out and had a -107 signal.
As another member said it could be the Palmas Station reaching the Rio Hondo Area.
I hope it starts broadcasting NV 3g and LTE soon. There are a lot of neighborhoods around the Rio Hondo area that would benefit from the upgraded data services. Also I am moving from Mayaguez back to Bayamon to finish my studies at UPR Bayamon so I will be able to test the NV site on campus soon. (Don't know if its completed yet, but I'll find out soon)
yes, my bad, I read the exact details too late, it's one of the perils of reading the forum in mobile view... though the point still stands, the CC Plaza Rio Hondo site showed up on the sites complete map a while back, should get better speeds someday soon, at least with the enhanced 3G if not 3G + LTE...

the Caribbean Cinemas @ Plaza Río Hondo site showed up 3G/4G complete in the map a while ago, but the new backhaul doesn't seem to be in place yet, should be soon though, a 4G signal from it is a very good sign

new backhaul got connected to the site at UPR-Bayamon, evidenced by the 2 Mbps download test I got today after 2 years with sub-300kbps speeds, Network ID also changed from 1 to 200.

looks amazing, I sincerely hope those kinds of speeds are obtainable in real-world, day-to-day use
-
was that today? my phone was roaming most of the time today at La Poli, only had 1x when it managed to connect to Sprint so I figured they may have been working in that area today

sorry, that was my bad, completely misunderstood what you wrote.
I've seen some LTE pockets in Roosevelt Ave., probably the same one you saw
