Oh man still no 4G in the Bayamon UPR site.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
I really wonder what could be the holdup there... The 3G part was completed like November or December last year, so the facilities for getting the backhaul there should already be available

here on st thomas yes...(let me talk proper)...the pings are like 400 and dl speeds are like .06mb..but when you load up a webpage the speeds seem ok..kinda weird.
sorry, but no, I'm asking specifically about Puerto Rico, it's been an issue for the past week.

Anyone still having issues with high ping and slow internet (both 3G and LTE) here in Puerto Rico? I wonder if it's a reported network outage, might have to call in tomorrow

seems there's some network problems, since yesterday afternoon I've noticed the ping is sky high on my GS3 (over 500ms) in LTE areas here in Bayamon, with much slower speeds than normal.

Yeah I get the echo too miguel, and that's all I hear, weird... What could possibly affect Airaves like that?
SNIP
I called in to Airave Support and the tech, while very helpful, couldn't find any similar reports. He thought that it may be a speed issue with my ISP, but I've had the same speeds and service for a while with no problem.
He'll call me back on Wednesday, I'll ask him if an equipment exchange would work.
I suggest that you also call in to report it, if only so they have another report besides mine.

I've had a similar issue with my Airave, where I'll be able to initiate a call but it won't give a tone on my end nor can I hear the call recipient, but they can hear me just fine... I've just chalked it up to my crappy DSL, been leaving the Airave unplugged recently due to it.
I started having this issue the past week, I have DSL but that's probably not the reason, as the Airave had been working perfectly for more than two years (since March 2011). I get an echo on outgoing calls, while incoming ones seem to work fine.

San Juan, Bayamon & Guaynabo are still missing LTE site completion, but there's no new progress to report so it's been quiet here.
I'm waiting for the announcement of the Galaxy Note 3 with tri-band LTE

Related to our market I'm desperately waiting for the UPRB site to go live.
Can't be long, they've been working on it almost daily for the past week.

Just passed by the UPR-B site, there was an Ericsson truck (who handle the site inspections), but also a machine not unlike the ones used for underground cable laying. Just theorizing here, but maybe they're laying more fiber?

Just passed by the UPR Bayamon site, and there was work being performed, including a worker that had climbed up to the tower. LTE may light up soon...

Whats the difference between LTE and LTE Advanced?.... I read something like that and got the doubt...
posted using J.A.R.V.I.S.
LTE Advance is next-generation technology, the evolution of LTE tech.

There are a few sites in the metro area without LTE as well. I'm waiting on the UPR-Bayamon site.
Yeah, I wonder what the holdup could be, as 3G has been complete for a while, and most of the sites around it have LTE already. Could be backhaul related, as 3G speeds where stellar when they activated the 3G update, but have dropped a bit.

Well, that tower upgrade worked magic. So how far along is NV in PR then? For the first time since when I had a Pre I can say that Sprint has great data service...

Last I read, just 3 sites missing 3G upgrades (out of 242 I think), and 80-something waiting for their LTE upgrades

Plaza Las Américas is a huuuge shopping mall in Hato Rey/San Juan, and it seems the sites around the mall work on the sites around the mall has slowed, like the rest of the San Juan/Metro area.
Probably not much work performed this week either, with it being Holy Week, and it being so rainy the past 3 or 4 days.

90 degree heat here, snowstorms in the US... all-around, not very nice working conditions for those crews

it's not the first time that rumor's popped up, either...

Has the rollout around San Juan stalled? Since we have not had a weekly update for a while I have no way of knowing if PR is still advancing. I am keeping an eye on the sponsors map and non of the towers in the San Juan area I care about are seeing any action.
Robert's been posting the highlights of his daily updates in the NV Comments thread, and there's some PR updates recently

266 to be exact!
dang, I was close! If I recall correctly 242 for PR, 14 for USVI?
nonetheless, we sure are blessed with the progress, and with good weather that didn't slow down work. I suppose the market's density played a big part in the priority Sprint put on it, and I really feel for those that right now are going through the exact same thing we did not so long ago: unusable data and poor voice reliability.
Spring time's coming up, hopefully sparking faster progress in rolling out Network Vision to the rest of the US, and LTE in Robert's area in New Mexico!!

nah, we're gonna be the first 100% market 'cause it's a tiny market with less than 250 sites
but yeah, extremely lucky to be so ahead in the rollout

there's still gaps and unusable spots all over the Metro area, but it's definitely better than it was 3 or 4 months ago....
btw, I think the Los Filtros Costco doesn't actually get served by the UPRB site, that one's got upgraded 3G since about December, whereas in Costco data and voice service has been almost non-existent since about September or October.

So its st.Thomas fault speeds suck? Elaborate on the part about the backhaul, still kinda new to these terms.
not really St. Thomas' fault, it's geography's fault, it's hard and expensive to get backhaul there.
backhaul is the connection between the cell site and the internet, it's expensive to get a lot of capacity, having to get that capacity to remote places (islands like the USVI being a prime example) is even more expensive.

they're not lying, they haven't claimed the market is complete, and they're launching markets before they're completely built-out.
previously they waited to launch until they were complete, but customers started to complain.
my suggestion is to not read too much into the press release, and don't stress out about gaps in coverage. the build-out still isn't complete, so let's enjoy the available coverage for a while!

I think the map on Sprint's site indicates that it shows "expected outdoor coverage"

More sites accepted this past week in PR/VI (mostly in the Metro) than the past few weeks actually.

Sounds great, Robert. As always, thanks for the update.
How's the NV rollout looking over in your neck of the woods in NM?
