just having voice on the 800 band will be great, much better building reception for voice is awesome!
I agree. Hopefully if sprint does get access to the 600mhz spectrum they can just use the 800mhz strictly for voice so LTE will be 600/1900/2500.

I dont think dish owns any BRS spectrum. There was a collaboration test between dish and ntelos a month ago to test td-lte for fixed broadband. I think it wad just a test for proof of concept of how they could deploy it at 2.5 ghz so dish had permission to use the 2.5 ghz spectrum for the test.

That's what I thought. I think sprint should buy that BRS spectrum from Ntelos

The BRS and PCS licenses are interesting.
Do you think sprint will go after the BRS and PCS licenses? I thought dish was using that spectrum

I found a link i found interesting. I wanted to see what kind of performance Softbank's TD-LTE was getting in Japan. According to the link, Softbank is using 2.6ghz spectrum in a 30mhz channel. Pretty good performance i would say.
http://www.huawei.com/ilink/en/success-story/HW_195558#.UeQvY9hnaqk
For those that do not want to read:
Spectrum: 2.6ghz
Channel width: 30mhz
DL Speeds: up to 76Mbps
UL Speeds: up to 10Mbps
I'm so ready to experience this network. Clearwire has stated that its LTE network can reach 168mbps. I wonder if that's still softbank's and sprints plan

We can still give new customers the older plans

No

What does it mean then?

Checking the LTE coverage map, I notice their some spots that has gray. Does that mean they plan to add LTE in that area?
-
I read a day or so ago that his plans are to have VZW's LTE footprint in 2 years or less, effectively displacing AT&T.
The other thing I read is that he has the track record to deliver on those promises, and doesn't like to lose.
It's awesome news for us sprint customers.
This is great news.
-
PSA : working for sprint as of right now sprint is not getting rid of the old plans however they are off the website because they want new customers on the newer plans. Working at the store we still have access to old plans and I can still put new customers on the older plans. I'm sure the older plans will begin to phase out in the next year or two

I just hope it's not some gimmicky, value-added service rather than a real bandwidth improvement.
Based on Son's track record I'm sure whatever he's cooking up for us will be well worth the wait
-
Son already said he's not gonna broadcast his plans. We'll know of his plans when the product is introduced.
It would be cool if they can have some kind of an event and introduce "New Sprint" to the world
-
Any news on the New Sprint launching TDD? Possible announcement during 2nd quarter meeting? Will Sprint phase out Clearwire brand? Would be nice to get New Sprint internet hotspot unlimited on TDD.
So far no new news but I'm sure we will get some good news soon. To my knowledge clearwire already had 2,000 sites ready to be linked to the sprint network, we have a couple Triband hotspots releasing sometime this summer and LG and Samsung are expected to release a Triband phone later this year
Other than that I really don't know lol. We just have to wait and see
-
What does softbank have up their sleeves? I'm so ready for Softbank to have some sort of press release that explains their vision and what exactly they are trying to create

This might sound dump but is there any way sprint can acquire more 800smr spectrum? Just curious
-
Do you have a quote/link for this assertion?
Softbank CEO has been saying since the beginning of this journey (oct 2012) that he wants to build a strong competitive network with sprint against AT&T and vzw. To be competitive you have to make a product or service thats comparable or better than your competition right?
Do I know if softbank CEO said "I want to build a network on the same level as vzw and AT&T" verbatim, I do not, but he has been preaching about making sprint better and more competitive than its rivals
-
Think Sprint would buy Ntelos seeing how there was talk about it in 2010?
Possibly. We shall see. Softbank CEO is very adamant to get sprint coverage on the same level as AT&T and vzws
-
Cspire has partnered with Sprint for LTE roaming on 1900 i believe. I think Cspire and USCC are likely acquisitions for Sprint. If Masayoshi Son is going to keep his goal of Verizon Coverage by end of 2015, then he is going to have to acquire some coverage.
I'm sure they are. Just have to wait and see. I just don't know which carrier they will try and pursue, uscc will be a good choice but who knows

I wanted sprint to acquire them but oh well. I feel sprint and softbank has so much on their plate right now, the last thing they should worry about is another acquisition. Lets get through the remainder of this year first before we acquire someone else. I want them to focus on the rest of network vision 1.0 and 2.0.
Maybe middle next year when LTE is covered nationwide then we can focus on acquisitions. I would like for Softbank/sprint go after US cell, Ntelos, Cspire, Southernlinc etc.

They have been, and it's definitely around. The reason you're not seeing it is because it's broadcasting on a special "testing" SID, 22429, which the official Sprint PRLs ignore. There is an 800MHz testing PRL available in the sponsors section that will allow you to connect to the SMR towers in DC metro.
Ok DCmike thanks!! I'm looking into downloading it
-
DC Metro is native Sprint market, so I'm assuming it will go with the main market push.
Yeah I know. I just want to know if anyone knew when does sprint rolling out 800 in this area.
-
Sounds like premier sponsor info.
How do I become a sponsor?
-
Does anybody know when 800smr will be turned on around the DC metro area? I live in Hagerstown, MD (Shentel market) and we have 800smr voice and LTE almost everywhere in town but when I go to the DC metro area (montgomery county) the coverage is awful. I'm patient since I only go down there every now and then.
Just curious not complaining! Lol
-
PROFIT????
I'm all for that!! But sadly that won't be for a couple years. But they are saving a good amount with the Nextel shut down
-
So ready to experience this new network once everything is done! Hopefully there will be so much improvement by the time the next years iPhone or htc one comes out

in Network, Network Vision/LTE Deployment

Wow didn't expect this news, great job SprintBankWire. I'm not eligible for an upgrade until June 1 of next year so hopefully by then 800/2500 LTE are deployed in the areas where I travel the most.
