No issues with that at all for me, did you hard reset? You better answer yes to that question. :)

Hard reset should be part of the update, especially when going to the next version of android... I can see no reset on a maintenance update, but Sprint's tech support must be slammed with people calling with issues related to this.

It is my understanding that a hard reset is done through the Boot loader menu. This method prevents the OS from loading.

Power off device, hold volume down button then power button at the same time. Device boots up, release power but still hold down the volume down. The menu will appear and them use the volume down button to select "factory reset". Confirm selection by pressing the power button.

App back up and restore can he helpful but I prefer to reinstall just in case it was an app giving me the issue.

When you select the option to do a factory reset, it automatically reboots into the bootloader and initiates a reset.

  3. Thanks for clearing up the Hard Reset definition question. What I thought - wipe the slate and reload everything. May come to that. Can't figure why the update "broke" WIFI in the first place. But I'm not as knowledgeable with phones as computers.

Also, you're 100% right on about Juice Defender. Should have been more clear - the way I use it is simple. Most basic control and that's it. Sorry!

When shifting a full "generation" of android, apps can retain portions from the previous version, and cause issues. I do a factory reset often. It keeps everything fresh, and improves performance.

  4. I'm confused here. Is there an LTE only setting on the phone I'm missing? All I see is LTE/CDMA or CDMA only. Do you have to pull a third party app from the App Store to force the radio into quick strong LTE mode? What gives, guys?

You have to go into the internal menus that require a numeric code to be entered in the dialer.

  5. Please define hard reset for me MM.. Do you mean the old style back to scratch where everything must be reloaded, or what Sprint now calls a Hard Reset? Help me understand you, please!

A hard reset is done through the settings, and deletes all the apps, settings, accounts etc. You have to reload your apps, log back in to everything and set up widgets and shortcuts. It takes some time, but it is well worth it if it improves performance. If you select the option "have Google backup and restore my data and settings" or something along those lines, it will reinstall all the apps that you had before the reset automatically.

  6. I just wish there is some solid proof that Sprint is actively updating towers in the Metro Detroit area. Someone with knowledge of a rollout plan to verify what, where, and when. The only reason I remain with Sprint is due to their integration with Google Voice and the peace of mind that comes with an unlimited data plan.

  7. All this talk about 20 MHz carriers etc... Unless your doing something outside the terms of service (ie heavy file sharing, tethering, etc) really what's the point of having that fast of a connection for a smart phone? Give everyone 6-8 MHz 99% of the time and your golden IMHO.

Exactly, it will just invite abuse. (and millions of speed tests)

  8. From a Labrador point of view. He hears the barking' date=' meows, and rodent squeaks and it's like yelling SQUIRREL!

It makes me look at the tube.

Maybe the ad guys are leveraging pet/person relationship.[/quote']

My lab just gives a bored bark. She must feel like she needs to respond, but she doesn't want to expend too much effort.

  9. This would be a huge advantage for sprint, where they have never had ANY 4g at all in this market.

Sprint has their schedule and att has theirs. The kind of lead times that they need for delivery of backhaul to the site requires months if not years of planning. They can't change at the last minute.

You have to understand that Sprint has a nationwide network to manage, not a regional network in your market. Sorry your market isn't upgraded, but there is nothing that you, I, or anyone else can do about it.

  10. I know the DMV area is in the "pre-launch" phase but does anyone know if Sprint will increase the signal range of the towers over time because it seems as of right know that most towers in heavily populated areas are barley sending LTE signals a mile out.

P.S. this is one of the times having a iPhone sucks because of iOS compatibility issues with sensorly.

In heavily populated areas, all carriers use small cells. If they use large cells, the large population base will overload the cells, as there is only so much capacity that a cell can support. If anything, sprint will decrease the size of the cells as neighboring cells come online. There are likely quite a few sites that still need to be upgraded around you.

  11. Sorry if offended some of the forum members but the truth is the truth and sometimes it hurts but you'll live...

The truth is, this is not the proper forum for your complaints. It is a private forum not affiliated with sprint, so we do not host sprints complaints, nor do we tolerate members talking back to the admin of the site. If you want to complain, go log onto Facebook.

Thats because the clarity universally sucks.

Its not a marketing feature because there hasnt been anything to market' date=' yes.

Think of the millions spent on "the largest network/4g network" ads.

98% of america doesnt leave their home town in a given year. Having a large network means diddly squat for them. If verizon has coverage in farmsville, ND, and AT&T doesnt....who cares? You'll never go there. But yet its a feature that can be marketed.[/quote']

I'm talking about local coverage, not the bs advertising claims of these vultures. In my area, t-mobile has the most holes in coverage, AT&T and sprint have coverage almost everywhere in the area with AT&T serving up the lower quality network for voice reliability and Verizon is nearly everywhere (and LTE almost everywhere.) If I visit my parents in Wyoming, the choices are down to AT&T or Verizon and Verizon is head and shoulders above AT&T there.

While I am slightly concerned about coverage when I travel, I'm not going to base my decision on what an advertisement tells me. Also, I can easily deal with not having cell coverage when on vacation, not at home. Maybe I'm in the minority, but HD Voice seems like a gimmick that failed to make any excitement on the EVO LTE. It is something that could give sprint an advantage in the future when it is fully integrated.

As far as voice quality universally sucking, I agree that 8 years ago it was bad, but I don't think it is bad anymore. I can't think of the last time I had poor voice quality on a cell phone that wasn't coverage induced.

  13. My opinion of tapatalk and forum runner is this:

Tapatalk has more features but seems a lot buggier. The developer has taken an anti competition stance when it comes to fixing the reported bugs, refusing to do anything without payment or dropping support for forum runner.

Forum runner seems like a more polished program without some of the extra features. I have not tried to make contact with the developer, so I can't really remark on their responsiveness. I never have issues with forum runner though, with the exception of a crash here and there when I am initially loading up the program.

  14. At the end of my apartment's lease I'm going to be moving to an apartment complex that I know beforehand does not get cell service for geographic reasons. Now I'm not worried about data necessarily because I can always use WiFi but I can barely make calls over there. I've seen that Sprint has this Airave device available. I have a concern that isn't addressed on Sprint's site and that is if it lets just ANYBODY connect to it? I mean it's connected to my internet and I don't feel comfortable letting just anyone connect to it. For example' date=' I don't really want my neighbors using my Airave to tether their phones for internet use using MY internet, bogging it down in the process.[/quote']

You can set certain numbers that have access. It comes wide open initially but you can lock it down rather easily.

  15.

Now that you mention that' date=' I've heard many people mention that they are old fashioned in regards to using their phones for the purpose it was originally intended for, and that is to make phone calls. I have heard many people get into debates and VERY non "scientific" tests (calling each other and then swapping phones and comparing audio fidelity) about who's carriers have better call quality. There are many people that use their smartphones primary as "phones" and is perhaps a feature that would incentivize many users.

A way I see Sprint making this a major selling point and getting people more excited about HD Voice is perhaps setting up a little demo area in sprint stores where people can test it out and maybe kiosks at the mall or something. Because a way of making people want something is by showing them what they're missing.[/quote']

I would have to say network coverage and reliability have been the most important things that I have considered when cell carrier shopping. The clarity of a phone call is not even on my radar...

  16. Yeah it did that for me too on tapatalk. That's why I don't even have it installed anymore. I use forum runner.

The tapatalk developers will probably tell us that if we want it fixed, we'll have to dump forum runner.

Oh and the last time I had tapatalk installed on my phone was on the galaxy nexus.

We could try staging a bad feedback campaign until they fix it. Developers live and die by feedback.
