  1. I have a theory for LTE in Cincinnati and I hope my theory is totally wrong.

We have Wimax and I doubt that when LTE makes it here it wont be of the 1900 Mhz variety but rather of the 800 Mhz flavor.

I think that we will get 800 Mhz LTE shortly after IDEN is shut off next summer.

This also means the current batch of LTE devices wouldnt be able to use it anyway because they only can use the 1900 Mhz band.

I really hope im wrong but I think I own a device that will never see LTE in its lifetime while in the Cincinnati area.

Why would Sprint not deploy 1900 MHz LTE in Cincinnati when they are deploying it on every cell site (except a small percentage that cannot be upgraded)?

You might see both 1900 and 800 MHz LTE in the roll out at the time, but the claim that you will never see 1900 MHz is ridiculous.

  2. Was at the Verizon Center last night for the Wizards/Heat game didn't get any signal for 2 hours until I hit New York Ave is this area a dead spot for Sprint service or is it possible that Verizon could be blocking Sprints signal because I never had this issue at other venues before.

It has to be a dead spot. It would be illegal for Verizon to block a cell signal from another carrier.

  3. Im still confused about what they are doing with the new LTE sites. Are they modifying' date=' taking down, or making completely new towers?[/quote']

They are mounting new multi mode antennas with RRUs on the tower, and new base station equipment. Once the new equipment is up, tested and operating properly, they remove the old equipment.

  4. Greetings. Not sure if this is the place to ask and I did my best to search posts for an answer and found none. I am just curious if anyone has information on when West Texas (specifically Big Spring' date=' Midland, and Odessa areas) will be getting upgraded.[/quote']

That market is in the 3rd or 4th round. Those rounds are still in the air. They could start anytime between now and the end of 2013. All work is scheduled to be done by the end of 2013 or early 2014.

  5. Sprint is the only carrier mapped in my zip code. Hardly anyone else has napped here (had my cousin map a little bit of att.) But it just goes to show you can map all you want on sprint without worrying about your precious data limit. I think that's what hinders Vzw and att users the most. Data limits.

So you can't really trust Sensorly for actual map coverage' date=' because there's a lot of spots that hasn't been mapped by users. I a impressed with Samsung markets deploying lte for Sprint.

The funny thing is that mapping sensorly takes very little data usage.

  6. all i get from cell phone companies is lies.

If you have a complaint with sprint, I will direct you to community.sprint.com or Dan@sprint.com

This forum is not the proper outlet for your rants. If you want to stick around, I suggest you read and abide by the forum rules. We don't tolerate these kinds of posts.

  7. Doing what is smart and/or in the best interests of their customers' pocketbooks is not necessarily important to a government regulated monopoly. Southern company can do whatever it wants with southernlinc and pass the costs on to its customers. The cost is "justified" as operating expense, and southern company still takes their profit margin. Meanwhile, the customers, who have no choice in their power needs, subsidise the poor decision making. Anyone who approves the decision-making of southern company should also approve of the "10,000 dollar hammers" that the government is known to buy.

  8. Whoa' date=' the joke potential with this thread is huge! A million dollars? Man, that could buy a lot of phones and fried chicken. But I will leave you with just these words. As to the potential of a million dollars, no one has put it more eloquently than Lawrence has...

I don't even have to watch the clip to know what that is... and yes, I would.

I understand Chicago is spectrum constrained and it helps in that regard. Moreover' date=' the question is, seeing as 800mhz will provide a significant decrease in roaming costs within Sprint's footprint, why it isn't being utilized in other areas which are deployed? Also, I know Waco was a FIT, but it still stands to reason that this area isn't spectrum constrained and 800mhz is live.[/quote']

What? You answered your own question. The FIT, or field implementation test was built to test how the 1900mhz CDMA, EVDO and LTE as well as 800mhz CDMA would work in the field and not in the lab. It was a test market. Should they turn off the 800mhz portion because they are not spectrum constrained?

  10.

I'm on att. I'm lurking here because I'm tempted to return to sprint. Having said that att's speeds even on hspa+ blow sprint out of the water. One of my concerns about sprint is that unless they deploy lte widely their 3g speeds just don't cut it when compared to hspa+

Sprint is deploying LTE on every cell site (except a select few) you needn't worry about there being large swaths of 3G/2G only on Spint like there will be on att

  11. I have no Sprint service in my apartment. I have an Airave and a Galaxy Nexus. My Airave is dropping the call 5-15 minutes in almost without fail. Voice not broken at all (very clear and loud in fact) until the call is about to drop' date=' then the other party gets very broken and difficult to understand until finally the call drops.

I have called Sprint and they haven't been much help. I have 20Mbps service through TWC so I hesitate to lay blame on my ISP. They can't provide 20Mbps reliably, but I do get 10-15Mbps down and 1-1.5 Mbps up reliably even during peak times.

Do you have any suggestions as to what I can try to solve this problem? Calls drop every time I use my Airave, MMSs often show "Downloading" until I get down the road onto Sprint towers, and sometimes (though not always) callers are given a busy signal or go straight to voicemail when calling me. Also, texts can be delayed.

Should I demand Sprint replace my Airave? Galaxy Nexus? Should I give TWC the blame? I am really at a loss, but if it continues I will pay the ETF to switch to another provider, very reluctantly. I want unlimited data with LTE, and Sprint is lighting up LTE and much improved 3G here in the Raleigh area.

Does anyone else have these issues with an Airave? What can I try? Thanks for any insight![/quote']

My first impression of that problem is that it sounds like your internet is dropping out every so often.

  12. ou can never trust any company, but the upgraded performance on my phone does suggest the rep i talked to was being honest. of course i am a idiot when it comes to phone technology

Ericsson has been doing a lot of upgrades to the legacy network, adding carriers and more backhaul capacity, to help the legacy network keep up with demand until the Network Vision upgrade. The Cleveland market, according to this thread, is a third round market, with work starting in December. This is a guess, based on documents from the start of the Network Vision project. Sprint recently disclosed they are running about one quarter behind in NV upgrades, so you can make your own assumptions. Really, the best way to know, is to become a sponsor of the site and get the updates in the sponsor section, or monitor sensorly for LTE popping up in your area.

  13. sprint has confirmed to me that my area (45 minutes south of cleveland) will have lte within the next 6 months!!! I have noticed a vast improvement on call quality and data speed. its funny it took verizon 2 years and sprint only 6 months lol.

Good news, but I don't know if you can really trust what Sprint CSR's or store personnel tell you. Most of the time, they are guessing or echoing what this site says. Sprint is not directly releasing much info, not to the public or their employees...

  14. Naturally. My point was this is a populated enough area to probably warrant an upgrade. Just wondering if anyone has seen something I haven't. Sprint 3g is so slow in Muskegon its literally unusable anyway (15-20 kbits down all day) so there's likely a long way to go

This thread http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/212-network-visionlte-deployment-running-list/ contains the most recent information. Sprint is running about 3 months behind, so adjust start dates accordingly. This is based on old information, so don't regard it as fact, but it is about the best information out there.
