  1. And that's because you are afraid to use your data with caps, my friend. If you had Verizon LTE, and it was unlimited, I bet you would be finding all kinds of new ways to exploit data usage on your device. Tiered data controls usage more psychologically than anything.

I'm certainly not picking on you. You definitely couldn't use any of your unlimited Sprint data before. And there is no guarantee that we will be able to keep ours. Hopefully the Sprint network is going to be better and still unlimited when you come back at the end of your new Verizon contract.

True, I also have WiFi at home and work that I use while I am at those locations. I am keeping my usage to as low as possible, but even with unlimited data, I only topped out over 2 GB in a month a couple times and it was barely over that. I did notice that a couple speed tests on LTE used 47 MB

  2. Correct, but Amazon wants Foxconn to make the Kindle Fire 2. Foxconn currently makes the Kindle, just not the fire.

This is a quote directly from that article on Phandroid: "The thing is, it’s not only Apple who uses Foxconn to make their products. That shiny new Kindle Fire you received for Christmas — guess what? It was built in a Foxconn factory just like the iPad 2. It’s true."

Not Kindle, not Kindle Fire 2.

    http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-01-04/apple-profit-margins-rise-at-foxconn-s-expense.html

Here are a couple links showing the vast difference in profits that Apple and Foxconn are making on the manufacture of Apple devices. I do agree that Foxconn manufactures a LOT of electronics for other companies, but I have not seen any numbers on their profit margins compared to Foxconn's.

  4. Off topic: but Apple actually treats their employees really well. It's one of the highest rated employers in the US (along with Google.)

If you are talking about Foxconn, their only a supplier for Apple, along with HTC, Samsung, Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft, Dell, HP, Motorolla, etc etc. However, Apple has taken steps to improve the working conditions of the employees in associated Foxconn factories (more than any other company has) but that could be because for some reason they take the most heat for it and every other tech hardware company associated with them (all) is largely ignored.

On topic: every company is suing every company, its the way its been for years, only now its getting more notoriety.

There is also the fact that Apple has a HUGE profit margin on everything that Foxconn makes for them but yet pays Foxconn so little that they have to cut costs to make a profit. You can only cut costs so far becore the only costs you have left to cut are wages, employee comfort and safety. A lot of the heat against Apple is coming because they have such huge profit margins. Customers who buy the bargain brands of electronics shouldn't be surprised when the factory makes the news for inhumane treatment of their employees. On the other hand, customers that pay the premium price for electronics from makers like Apple expect that their products are made in a premium factory with skilled employees who make a decent wage. They don't expect their product to be made in a sweatshop with all the profit going in the pockets of the already filthy rich.

  5. LOL. I honestly can't remember my experience with it too much. Guess that says alot. I actually powered it on a couple weeks back, and it loaded up with a version of CM on it.

I had CM on it and that was the ONLY silver lining. I had the phone for the entire 2 years of my contract. It was so slow, I would have about 3 seconds to answer a call before it went to voicemail. I guess it could have been network issues, but I think it was the phone. Then there was the issue with memory. I think it had a 3.5" floppy disc for its memory. I could keep approximately 7 apps installed before overflowing the memory. I had to continuously uninstall and reinstall Yahoo's fantasy football app to clear out the data (there were several times where it reached 25 MB and it was unable to just clear out the data.) The only thing I can say for it was that it was really durable. There were several times that it met concrete at a high rate of speed and after re-inserting the battery and putting the back cover back on, it fired right back up. Then you add the fact that everyone else was using the Evo, and I was very unhappy with the HTC Zero.

  6. My last two phones have been HTC. Had the Hero when it was first released, and I'm on the EVO 4G. I've been or have been fairly happy with both. But I am looking to Samsung for my next device possibly.

Hero... I had that phone and it almost turned me completely against HTC.

  7. Well, for the HTC fans on Sprint's sake. I hope they are also working on a CDMA phone with quad core. They used to have a great relationship with Sprint. Maybe it has soured with Sprint securing the iPhone and cutting into HTCs market, or their buddying up to Samsung and Motorola.

  8. I set up the Member levels to run all the way through LTE Advanced, based on the number of posts.

I also added Membership groups, including S4GRU Sponsor and S4GRU Contributing Author. These have some membership advantages to them. I am going to write up more details about them later on the Bulletin Board today.

Looking forward to it. I'm going to have to get to work to make it to LTE-Advanced...

  9. HTC likes to push innovation. I wouldn't be surprised if they are first with a quad core. I hope it is as well designed as the Evo so it doesn't get stepped over by Samsung and Moto when they come out with their quad cores. Plus I hope they put more than a gig of RAM in there. As was stated in another thread, phones have been stuck on 1GB RAM for a while, I think they are ready to move to more. At least if they want to be relevant in a year.
