  1. Well my idea is to look for permits that were pulled only, and visualize that on a map, color code the markers with the contractors, and mark the location were one of the known contractors working for Sprint/Ericsson has a permit pulled but it doesn't explicitly state that Sprint is the customer.

If you share the info I too will keep my eyes out.

  2. So somehow Sprint has decided that my newly upgraded less than 6 months old EVO4GLTE is already eligible for upgrade. I also got the best buy buy back on the phone so they will give me $350 for it right now.

Just trying to decide if I should jump to the note. anyone who was a sense UI user that likes samsungs better?

  3. I would say if it follows the same direction that Wi-MAX did you will see it along 19 first.

Count me in. Would like to scope out locations we think will start things out in the Tampa market. Is there anything we could make assumptions on based on the Miami market deployments and now the start in the Orlando market? Could sites start up hugging routes like US 301 or 41? Maybe 19? Could it start on the outskirts and work toward more populations?

  4. OK so I have tested all over Tampa on my way home today. By my office near the Fairgrounds. Ybor, Downtown, Westshore, and the Vets/Suncoast all the way up to NPR, even tested in a few spots in NPR. All I can say is pitiful results, it has actually gotten way worse in the last few months. My OG EVO would at least get around 600K in most places except my office. most my tests today were below 200 down, and below 100 up. The best tower I can connect to is my AirRave it gives me 2.5Mb/sec 3G so it wasn't my phone.

Just sucks in general now. Tampa used to be a very good market for Sprint data.

  5. I am from Florida... I am a rare breed :) though I did take a 16 year detour in VA.

Makes sense.. Florida in general is a transient state. It seems like no one here is actually from here. Orlando would probably be even more so with the reasons people actually go there.. Time to dig in the Orange County permit site and see what I can find..

  6. Yeah the switch over from Shentel to Ntelos happens just north of exit 235 as you get to the top of the hill in all the trees as I remember back before smart phones, I used to always drop calls right there. That was when a buddy of mine worked for Ntelos and he said they had problems with the Shentel handshaking off to Ntelos but not Ntelos Handshaking off to Shentel. That is why I would only drop calls heading south.

Here's the info for the tower I got on 33. I also think I was the one who caught that blip in Harrisonburg. I was sitting in Chipotle listening to the apply announcement when I flipped over to LTE for e few seconds. Didn't see it afterwards, though. Also of interest, the changeover from Shentel to nTelos happened around Mt Crawford/Weyers Cave, just north of Blue Ridge Community College and the Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport.

  7. Greatest name for a mountain. Massanutten we used to have a joke as kids. when the white man would ask his native guide what that mountain was they would say "Mass of Nothin'" but the White man thought they were saying Massanutten. There is a small ski resort up in the cradle of the mountain.

I think it's on top of that mountain to the East on the way to Elkton. Shentel has a site up there.

  8. I haven't seen any changes in speed at my office off 301 and MLK. I would have thought 3g would also improve before LTE is put in place. I am connecting with eHRPD but down speeds are seldom better that 80k with up to 2 seconds for latency.

  9. I work on Coconut Palm and I was noticing the high tension wires essentially wrap around our building, runs along our parking lot then turns behind our building before crossing the canal. I go to Veterans Park on 301 just across the canal at Lunch pretty regularly and over there I get decent speeds (between 1mb and 2mb). A question I have for those smarter than me. Can the High Tension wires cause radio interference?

  10. Not everyone has this problem

I have a friend who also has one with an EVO 4GLTE and he doesn't have the issue. I need to go over to his house to see if I get the beeps with his airvana. If I do then I know it is phone related. if I don't then I know it is Airvana issues.
