  1.

I had a 4G LTE signal near Summit and I30 in Fort Worth the last two days.

Unfortunately when I get more than a mile from that site, it switches back to 3G. At my house, I might as well get 2 cups and a string for connectivity.

  2. Just drove through Alvin, TX with great 4G signal until I reached Bypass 35@FM528, and I dropped to 3G as I headed to Friendswood. At the Friendswood city limit, I lost service altogether and started roaming until I got about half a mile from FM528@FM518 where I re-aquired 4G. Once I turned down FM518 I dropped to 3G at the Friendswood/League City line. I maintained 3G all the way down FM518, then down I-45 south to FM646 all through the Victory Lakes area. I then drove down FM517 back to alvin and stayed 3G until I hit Bypass 35 where I reaquired 4G. I was cycling to Airplane mode and back along the way when it was safe to do so to make sure the 4G aquisition attempt was being made. It seems interesting to me that they chose to complete an area such as Alvin with 25k people vs. an area like League City which resides along an interstate corridor and has a population of 80-100k. Don't get me wrong, I am very pleased that I have 4G, just curious of Sprint's strategy.

I didn't get any in Waco which was odd got signal in Plano

  3. The most recent map of completed NV towers lacks coverage shows no entries for northern suburbs such as Plano, Frisco, The Colony, Carrollton, and Lewisville. Two towers in Richardson show up, and about an hour ago I established a 4G LTE connection to the one just north of UTD. Then there's one isolated completed tower just South of 380 on Preston Road.

The Ft. Worth area shows a lot more completed towers than the Dallas area.

    Bob

Yep I live in Frisco but I was in Dallas for errands..

It gets dimmer when you go outside? That's odd. My viper gets super bright when i go outside, sometimes too bright.

Please keep in mind that your prl has nothing to do with connecting to 4g lte. PRL stands for preferred roaming list, which does not apply here.

    What about the profile?

I stay in Automatic Brightness, except for the times I am outside for any length of time.

    Robert

You would think it would get brighter when I go outside but it gets dimmer

  9.

    I don't think so.

It's probably related to two things

    1) SAMOLED display sucks more power.

    2) EVO has more conservative power management settings.

It's pretty interesting to see the EVO just about shuts down radios at night - pretty awesome.

When I let it just do automatic brightness the battery is much better

No batteries in Dallas or no GS3's? Did you post in the wrong thread?

I don't know enough about batteries to say definitively, but I don't believe so. Its likely related to the devices themselves.

    Hmm here in Dallas.....nothing yet...

Nothing here in Houston (well my area at least, even though an lte tower is .08 of a mile away .) Even drove and parked at the tower to see if it'll connect and nada! Then drove to another lte tower that's 1.8 miles away and it connected to lte

    And how was the speed
