  1. I just did a fun test. On my EVO 4g LTE, I went through the engineering screen and turned it to LTE only. I was in a known LTE area. It went to 4g and the icon showed full bars. I drove to my workplace where there is no 4g and did speed tests the whole way. Steadily declined from 10 all the way to 2mbps down. Ping ended up in the 400ms range until it finally disconnected. The WHOLE TIME my phone showed full bars... Why??????

How do you turn it to lte only?

  3. Has anyone gotten the latest update for Samsung Galaxy SIII from Sprint. I cannot seem to get the update, but my friends have gotten it.

I got one update a while Ago...Is that the one or is there a new one out?

  4. Robert, I'd be happy to help (how do I do it? Lol)

I spotted a few more brief LTE moments while driving home on 280 in San Jose today, far away from the Apple campus this time. I've also noticed eHRPD almost everywhere I go around here the past few days (I think that is a sign of LTE-to-come?) Even have eHRPD in my house now which was EVDO only a few days ago

    Thanks

Oh eHrpd is different from EVDO? In which ways

These are not necessarily live sites, but rather completed sites. For instance, Sprint blocked customers from connecting to completed LTE sites in the Dallas, San Antonio and Houston markets until the markets were formally launched. We don't know if they will do something similar in Austin.

Technically, Waco is in the Austin market and Sprint has allowed those sites to go live now. So we presume that Austin sites will go live as they are completed. However, we will not know definitively until we report some Austin sites complete and our members in the area can confirm whether they are able to connect or not.

How exactly do we force our phone to only connect or search for 4G signal? Like is it a dialer code?

  6. So I'm out on the McKinney greens with my son's and low and behold I'm getting great 4G signals here. I guess north Texas can breath a sigh of relief you did not have to wait long. That would be Eldorado and Medical Center drive.

I have it here in Frisco too...!

I see a tower scheduled for August about a mile from my office in Hall Office Park. The tower is at 3966 Parkwood Blvd, a bit Northeast of Parkwood & Gaylord.

A tower in Plano a mile or so from my house is also scheduled for August.

    Soon!!!

I flew into and out of San Antonio over the weekend. Several times I briefly saw an LTE connection while inside the airport, but the EVO LTE wouldn't hold onto it. Driving 410 between the airport and US 90, then West on 90 I noted what appeared to be LTE connections to more than one tower. Unfortunately I couldn't stop to investigate. While having a piece of pie at Marie Callendar's I unfortunately remained stuck with a 3G connection. But the pie was good!

I bet it was! Plano isn't Too far from McKinney

  8. The most recent map of completed NV towers lacks coverage shows no entries for northern suburbs such as Plano, Frisco, The Colony, Carrollton, and Lewisville. Two towers in Richardson show up, and about an hour ago I established a 4G LTE connection to the one just north of UTD. Then there's one isolated completed tower just South of 380 on Preston Road.

The Ft. Worth area shows a lot more completed towers than the Dallas area.

Actualyyyyyyy I'm happy to say I finally have lte in Frisco

Thanks for the suggestion. For some reason, the Play Store is saying that CDMA Field Test is not compatible with my Sprint Galaxy Nexus? It will, however, let me load it on my Toshiba Thrive Tablet, so I guess I can locate the .apk and sideload it on my Nexus and give it a shot.

Was not aware of privacy issues with Netmonitor, so thanks for the head's up.

    It's compatible with my SIII
