  1. So I have been having this issue where my Phone won't receive texts until hours after they were sent and automatic retrieve is on....I would have to update my profile or restart my phone to receive them...it's irritating and I wanted to know if anyone else had experienced it?

  2. To all who have posted on this topic. I have experienced 2 HTC Evo phones that have heating issues. I cannot say that is it only because of the radios. I can update, download, and play apps and will notice my phone heating up. If I spend too much time on the phone it will get hot, even if I have the Wifi on. The heating issues have caused the software to screw up. Deleting apps, changing settings, and not being able to pull down the notification bar (the Sprint tech said the top portion of the phone sensors did not work and showed me his test). I am not sure that Qualcomm tested the correct Snapdragons or possibly used the wrong program to show off the heat it can show. I am currently awaiting my third Evo to come in. My first exchange happened within 30 days of buying the phone. This time it lasted longer. Still heat is an issue for me. Have I received a phone from a bad batch? I am sure that my next phone will be used catiously. I had one Sprint rep tell me that the SG3 heats up too.

It does! Very badly...especially when I'm charging and using at the same time

  3. Thanks for the advice; this is my first android and I was kinda freaking out that I wasn't getting as much efficiency as the other screenshots showed. And that was the first task manager in the app store that I found but I'll look for a better one!

I've had mine since July 1st and recently the battery life has been terrible and it hasn't been charging..and when it does it charges like one percent every hour...and then text messages will be delayed for like two hours and I have time update my profile for them to come in...I have full bars as well

  4.

Browsing websites and forums via tapatalk, maybe play card ace casino (now big fish casino) for 20-25 min. Send a couple of texts, check email and respond or compose 1 or 2 at max. Rarely do I talk on the phone - but at most it would be like 5-10 minutes. I've tried setting the brightness and using autodim, & do not keep the GPS, Bluetooth, and WiFi switched on. Tried it with sprint's autoconnect on and off. Primarily I use it for internet access when out and about, but nothing really otherwise except use of an app here or there, and that lays me out with a 15-20% battery life after about 2 to 2.5 hours.... closer to 15 and going quickly!!

I haven't done any custom Rom or other. tweaks .

I have forced dump /terminated apps via the the task manager submenu, and at times it says it that it ended about 52, 37, 28 running apps give or take a few. AlsAlso those numbers of background processeses occur at about the same rate of occurance...

So, sorry if I explained and/or described that poorly, but a couple of hours give or take of battery life I think qualifies as being deemed " horrible " .

Could I have a dud battery...?

  5. I'm coming from using a Palm Pre and briefly using an Epic 4G S1, and the view in sunlight on the galaxy s3 is really poor- heck the backlighting is really weak coming from the Pre which I could keep at between 4 and 20% of brightness and it was as bright as the S3 in full brightness. The screen is pretty but definitely has a viewability more in line with a tv.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong but my battery life has been horrible and I have checked the battery resource consumption and nothing running in background services or apps indicating heavy ccause of the drain? Im in downtown Chicago so wondering if the terrible service and data connection is the culprit as its straining to get solid connection and that my data speeds probably max out regularely at like 85k. Sort of a major frustration because I was doing fine on the Epic 4G with a Wimax connection- even though it would chew through battery life to justify that given the data rate speeds. Though it is a concern that seemed like epic 4 g also had a faster 3G connection. I'm wondering if I should just switch back to the epic 4 G given the better connection quality and that downtown Chicago will not have updated for a couple more months probably be and updated flagship phone available even though I have had a positive experience with my galaxy s 3 spite of the data connection slowed speeds and quick battery drain which compared to others seems like is draining way too fast based on comparable rates of use....

    What kind of horrible?

  6. Wait till you get good LTE speeds. I used to get around 20 Mb/s all day on Verizon, and I could run around town streaming absolutely anything I wanted.

I do get consistent 20 megs down on lte when I'm at HOME which is good other than that when I'm out and about around Atlanta and don't have lte the 3G I'm connecting to isn't horrible

  7. I saw LTE go live in San Marcos for about a couple of seconds at around 6pm. It may have been by accident, but my phone definitely switched to 4G for a couple of seconds.

    I'm using a Sprint Galaxy S3 LTE.

    Never heard of that city

  8. I get REALLY bad 3G speeds at the bar I go to all the time. The thing is, the towers are right in the next parking lot and I have FULL bars. I cannot WAIT until NV hits this area!

Here are a few shots taken with the phone exactly where I was standing while running the speed test. Srry for them being sideways, no time to flip them!!

I've heard things about it being because of the phone itself...especially the iPhone..don't qoute me on that
