  1. Yup. I bet there is a lot of people freaking out today, and many of them may be new Sprint customers.
  2. I may give that a try later. I sent a DM to the rep that offered the upgrade, but she is not in until 1. I will update if I hear something.
  3. Interesting, I contacted Sprint through chat and she told me I would have to pay. Were you on the old iPhone for life from last year? My guess is with this being the first big upgrade cycle since leasing was introduced last year there is some confusion among the reps.
  4. Yup. Getting the upgrade date moved up was not the issue. It's that they are now coming back and insisting the current lease has to be paid off. They are telling me the upgrade date and the lease payoff are two different items. Basically moving up your upgrade date does nothing regarding the lease status. At least that is the way it is going for me. The $300 charge showed up when my shipping status updated to shipped on my pre-order. Nothing during the order process indicated I would have to pay the lease termination. Just to be clear, I am not upset with Sprint. I signed the contract, and I will honor it. I just wish the communication was more clear. If this would have been explained to me upfront, I would have probably declined the upgrade offer.
  5. I would have to pay $500 to buyout the phone then. Just not worth the hassle right now. My guess is the original rep thought they were doing a favor and with leasing still being fairly new did not understand everything. I am going to give the benefit of the doubt that it was not an intentional mislead on her part. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Welp, I guess I will be returning the new iPhone on Friday when I get it. I am currently on the iPhone for life lease from last year. I asked Sprint if I could upgrade early on their new plan, and they honored my request and reset my upgrade date. It seemed too easy. Well I logged into my acct this morning and saw a charge for $300 on my acct. I contacted care and they are telling me I still have to payoff my old lease to do the upgrade and they are not budging. This was not told to me when I asked if I could do an early upgrade. So in reality they were not doing me a favor. I know a couple of other members got their date moved up who are also on iPhone for life so you probably want to check your accts also. In the end its the contract I signed and I will honor it, just feel a little misled by the rep that offered the early upgrade and presented it in a way that they were taking care of my original lease.
  7. MyUPS has my shipment info also. 64 GB Space Gray 6S ordered on 9/14. Friday delivery. =)
  8. Yup. I quit eBay a long time ago. I knew what direction they were heading when sellers could not leave negative feedback on buyers anymore. As a seller you are at their mercy and have no protection. Fool me once... That is why I am perfectly fine with leasing. If you upgrade every year with the new deals being offered leasing is a no-brainer.
  9. 1. Correct 2. No. The promo price is for the 6s and is at a $7 discount to the regular lease price. While things could change, that promo price does not apply to future upgrades. 3. I'm not sure. This plan seems to be geared to iPhone. I would think if you wanted to upgrade to a non-iPhone you would have to wait until the lease is up. I would not bet on 2 year pricing being around in 22 months to be quite honest. But if it was and you have an upgrade on your acct I don't see why you would not be able to take advantage.
  10. And with Apple getting into the device financing game, it is a smart play. It's funny, it seems like Marcelo almost got tipped off by Apple regarding their financing plans. Sprint was out ahead of it with iPhone forever and the other carriers did not seem as prepared for that announcement.
  11. Good Deal. I wonder if they are being generous with early upgrades to get people on CA devices. iPhone is huge for Sprint and the more CA compatible devices out there the better as more and more people report better network experiences. In my case I think the fact I was on a lease helped also as I had been paying for the device for a year and they are getting it back.
  12. My order confirmation said a return envelope would be included to return my trade in with. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Sprint Rocks! After telling myself I was not going to upgrade to the 6s, I got the bug and decided to see what options I might have. I had done the 24 mo lease last year, and was not supposed to have an upgrade until next year. But I have been on Framily for over a year with the $20 unlimited data option that includes annual upgrades, but the iPhone lease program was excluded. I sent a DM on twitter to @sprintcare and after exchanging a few messages got a callback from a care rep. I was polite and did not make any threats, just expressed that in light of the new deals they were offering with the iPhone forever lease, I was wondering if there was any chance I could upgrade with that program. She said she would review my acct and get back to me. 15 min later I had a callback and my upgrade date got moved up to 9/1 and was already avaliable online. Just placed my order for the 6s on iPhone forever! It never hurts to ask, the worst that could have happened is they would have said no, and I would have been fine and honored the rest of the deal I signed. But I am thrilled that they were willing to help me out.
  14. And this is why I did not hesitate jumping on Sprints lease option last year. Resale is not a concern for me. Unless top end handset prices come down to earth leasing is the way to go. Annual upgrades just sweeten the pot. It's really a no brainier now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. That's actually one of the reason I like the leasing options now. I can get a new phone every year and don't have to worry about resale of my old device.
  16. So I used the setup tool on the Apple Store website to check out the Apple leasing/upgrade program and it says my plan is not eligible. It directs me to the Sprint website to order a phone. I am on Framily. So if you are on a plan that normally requires you to go through Sprint to do upgrades or changes it looks like the Apple store option would not be available to you.
  17. I did the iPhone for Life lease last year. I was able to pre-order on the Sprint website. It was just listed as one of the options when selecting the phone.
  18. I guess I don't see much of a difference between leasing and buying if you are one to switch devices every year or so anyway. Leasing allows $0 down and a lower monthly fee then easy pay, and I don't have to worry about selling my phone when it's time for a new one. And if you do end up wanting to keep the phone at the end of the lease, you do always have the option of buying it out. There is also a misconception that a leased device has to be returned in perfect condition. That is not true. As long as the display is not cracked, no water damage, ect you are fine. In reality I worry less about keeping my leased phone perfect then before because I am not concerned about resale. And it does not matter if you are on easy pay or lease, if you lose or damage the phone you would have to pay off the contract balance either way. Basically you should have insurance with either option. If you are somebody that keeps phones until they are dead, then by all means easy pay or outright buy is the way to go. But if you upgrade on a regular cycle anyway, I really don't see the disadvantage to leasing. I think Sprint is smart for offering it. But I do think they should offer all options and give the customer the choice.
  19. Just for anybody wondering, lost a framily member on Monday, posted my code on reddit yesterday, got the text tonight a new member was added, putting me back at 10. So for me still no issue keeping my Framily full. Still the best deal on Sprint. Unlimited for $41.20 per line with employer discount.
  20. Memorial Stadium in Lincoln deployed free in Stadium Wi-Fi last season and it worked great.
  21. http://time.com/money/3984383/papillion-nebraska-best-places-to-live-2015/ These types of rankings are pretty common for the Omaha metro. We live in a great old revitalized neighborhood in Omaha close to downtown and 10 mins from my office. Great music and bar scene, only thing lacking is pro sports. But KC is less then 3hrs away if you want that. Whenever co-workers from Chicago and New York come to town for meetings they are shocked how nice it is here. To say that talent can't be brought to the midwest is a joke.
  22. For the record, 1PM CST and BGR is still silent on this report. Rest assured, if T-Mobile had beaten Sprint in this report, Brad Reed would have had his Sprint trashing post out at 8AM. Obviously he is still trying to figure out how to spin the report to continue his agenda. And yes, I realize BGR is not really relevant and has become mostly tabloid clickbait trash, but I like calling them out when they take every chance they can to trash Sprint and worship Legere.
