I'm about 90% sure which tower you pulled that from and if I'm correct, either they FINALLY optimized it correctly or they turned on B41 on a different tower. Either way that's really impressive and just comes to show how far little ol' Appleton has come in the past couple years! I don't have Carrier Aggregation (yet) but B412 has been popping up more and more over the past week on many B41 live sites. One of which I use frequently, I was able to only get 44 Mbps with one carrier as my best speedtest back in October of 2014. The moment I saw the second carrier symbol I ran another speedtest and immediately got 56 Mbps at 5 in the afternoon. At peak time of the day too!

So I dug in my paper work for my Karma and found the code... however when I entered it in, I got no results. I would LOVE to know the antenna strength on this thing. Now that we have a game changer of a plan - and people around me know I have one - I've been getting asked tons of questions about it! But my favorite question to answer is "What network is it on?" and to answer with Sprint still impresses all the Verizon and AT&T people around here. I love it!

Kinda have to agree... and I absolute hate Verizon's it's always grainy looking and just bleh. The sun just has that "cool" vibe to it. You know like the surfer dude who throws you the hang loose sign at you and says "bruh!" No? Maybe that's just me... -

My Otterbox Defender takes on average 2-5 dBm off when I have it on my G3. But I'd rather take a small signal loss then a scratched screen or broken phone...

From what I read, when you try to connect the 4th device it will give you some sort of notice where it will force you to "sign out" of one of your other devices before you can connect. The blog post is kinda vague about it. I'm going to be looking for reviews to see if anyone goes through it.

Yes, but that's exactly my point... I was able to do that the one time I needed too way too easily. I mainly wanted to see just how easy it was, and any average joe could set it up. Now if someone who WERE to abuse this, do you see how easy it is to do? A large family could use an access point and be pulling LOADS of data through 1 account. If Sprint were to do this, and they were to something with a limit, they need to firewall it so it would fail when someone tries to do it. I never said either that you should do it and I tried it more just to see IF I could do it. But again, with the actual true abusers out there, why did they not make it harder? It's a great idea and a great plan, but I hope they fully thought it out...

Oh yes, and even I have done it already. I have a Cradlepoint MBR95 router that I can use. All you do is make sure you first connect through the Karma first with a laptop or desktop, then put the MBR95 in "WiFi as Wan" mode and then do just as you said. Using the Karma as your internet source and then re-broadcasting it through the router. I've done this when I need better WiFi coverage when my Karma can't. It's definitely possible!

Plus... you have to consider coverage too. In my neck of the woods, T-Mobile is humorous to a lot of people here because it's non-existent. Having this be a tri-band device ensures you can get optimal coverage. The bad side to that, if you hit overloaded B26, it's going to hurt. C'mon plaster of B41!

There are rumors about it - and I would love it if they were able to - but they'd need to make sure they implement a similar speed cap. Also if you notice in Karma's blog, one account can only have a maximum of 3 devices running. Which makes it so a whole household can't be using it under one account. Could Sprint do something like this? Probably, but like everything, people would go berserk because "it's not fair"... Pair a similar service like the Karma, but through Sprint and the Netgear Zing Hotspot or Router? It'd be another big one for Sprint, because I (and correct me if I'm wrong) don't believe any of the other 3 have something available, and if they do, it's a fixed solution or data bucket plan that costs an ungodly amount of money! IMO, I have a 50/50 split opinion on them getting into the WISP game. They need to focus on what they are doing currently, they don't have the extra money to go nuts-o with getting into WISP. However, I feel as if they could move forward with what they were trialing with Dish (see here) and could get this deployed in well-performing Spark cities, I think this would give MANY internet services a run for their money. BUT, it would need to be properly executed so a.) it doesn't bog the network and b.) cost them an arm and leg to get it to be a quality service. If the price is right and they were to deploy it, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Tbh, I'm quite surprised that they were able to do this without implementing a cap. However as we see more and more Sprint native markets hitting 100+ Mbps, I think the cap of 5 Mbps speed cap will allow it to happen. If someone does use more than 30 GB's it won't have that much of an impact as if they were to do that on a non-speed capped plan. I may not know everything in this industry, but I can confidently say that this plan is a great "middle-road" for people. It allows unlimited data to stay without everyone getting their shorts in a bunch. Especially for past Clear customers or folks who have crap for DSL and are light users (especially AT&T DSL ) this is an awesome deal/plan. And yes, I'm 99% sure Karma can't access roaming like most other pre-paid services. Which in this case is probably a good thing especially with Neverstop. People could rack up a very costly roaming bill! But with NGN coming, more and more LTE and B41 being turned on and the Karma having a good antenna and RF performance (compared to my LG G3) I thankfully have always had some type of connection.

Absolutely, and in fact when I saw the title of the article in my email, that's the exact thought I had! This plan should give those who want truly unlimited what they want, while keeping the network safe from strain for those who worry about unlimited plans.

Yes, I just am now able to post about this... but you guys beat me too it! For all the nay-sayers of Karma out there, now what do you think? This opens up a whole lot of options for people now, and seeing as it's truly unlimited at a maximum speed of 5 mbps, this is an awesome deal for people. If they were to disable everything but Band 41, they might as well not even bother selling the device or service. There is currently not enough B41 coverage for it yet. LTE only device, maybe. But B41 only at this stage of the game would kill them. Even using it as is, I only average about 8-15 mbps even on a tower I get 40-60 mbps from on my G3. It's not a free for all with this hotspot. I will be updating the original post to reflect the new plan once it comes out. I very well may be doing this for my business in the future... And if any of you do decide to switch to this option please give us your review and how well it works for you.

I know you weren't AJ. To answer your question, it depends on the person. I'd say all would apply, some would apply and little to none would apply. Overall I see that majority of the tenants have a smaller >32" flat screen, but most only have a basic flip phone or very limited smartphone (Tracfone). I know that the few who do have "nicer" smartphones are usually given to them by family. There are tenants who spend frivolously on not mandatory items where yes, all it takes is some budgeting. However there are the few people who truly are living with no luxury items and have or just barely meet their everyday needs. I fully understand that Robert, all I was pointing out was markjcc's statement of "DSL is like what 20 Bucks? I'm sure they can shell in the extra ten." Some people truly cannot shell out $10 for certain items or services. I knew that this was never going to last and it was entirely a "get the last use of it, while it last" type of service. I'm not disagreeing with any of you really, I just thought that the DSL statement was kind of broad and an assumption. DSL isn't as nice as it is everywhere else and for the most basic of services, it's deathly expensive for a very sub par service here. Cable is even worse because you only get one provider in most areas around here. WiMax is dead, it needs to go and Sprint can start working magic again with what it is useful: Band 41.

I'm going to play devil's advocate for a second here... Now in no way am I saying I don't agree with you or most of the comments made in this thread for that matter. Sprint has given more than enough of a notice to ANY subscriber that uses WiMax. I even got a notice at least a year in advance from this shut down date. But for some - especially the target market of this service - $10 is a lot. My mom works in public housing. The people make very little money to the point where their rent is based on what they make (which is a lot less than one may think). Now thankfully they have good Wi-Fi for them to use, I've even helped tweak it so they get better speeds. Nice being the one who gets called in for the "tech" stuff everywhere... But not all are so lucky. Back to my point though... Where most of us see $10 as nothing, others see it (like those in that situation) as their whole week to live on. Some also don't have access to good quality DSL and cable is too expensive in this situation.

Glad to see that Spark is actually working well. I don't get out to GB all that often, but from what I can tell at least 1/2 of the towers in the Green Bay area should have full builds by now. So speeds should definitely be on the increase as people get shifted on the optimized towers to the correct band. Have you noticed any 3G holes? Or is B26 covering the gaps well? mjs2011, I also want to remind you that I have the premier thread going for our market if you'd be interested in becoming a premier sponsor! The thing I'd like to point out that I haven't seen on here is that the Sprint Direct2You is a huge mobile billboard! Marketing, marketing, marketing. If the picture of one of the Fiats that they used online is the actual fleet car that they use for this, that logo is different and it's proven in marketing that white on black or yellow on black is the top color scheme the brain remembers. I see so many benefits of this service even beyond the fact it's a delivery and setup service. Deval and clbowens make a great point. If they can also have these people check the network in all these different locations that they need to go, it will make the network better optimized for the real world user. Office buildings, subdivisions, parks, downtown, the coffee shop... they are going where the average consumer will be. Either way, it's publicity, signage and marketing for them. And yes, it is still a "newer" service but jeez, keep an open mind people. I probably will never use it myself, but thinking in others peoples shoes I could totally see how this would make the process of getting any device easier for some.
