  1. Go into the app manager and start shutting off everything that you can that you don't like. It's not perfect but it's a start and it lets you stop a lot of it.
  2. Put it through it's paces, tell what you like and don't like, if there is anything you think it is missing, ask if anyone has found it. Have you found the voice over wifi and gotten it activated and working?
  3. Give a review when you get a chance, ask questions if you have any. Pretty straightforward device.
  4. Sounds more like a software crash. Don't be surprised if the problem follows you to a new phone. If it was hardware, a reset wouldn't fix it.
  5. That's kind of a letdown. They're supposed to improve with each iteration, not step back.
  6. Has anyone started a North Wisconsin map/spreadsheet thread yet? I can't seem to find one. I wanted to take a look before leaving for Oshkosh. The only useful data I can find is the sensorly overlay map in the premier section.
  7. http://associationsnow.com/2014/03/small-scale-mobile-carriers-boost-signal-collective-clout/ and http://cdn.softbank.jp/en/corp/set/data/irinfo/presentations/vod/2013/pdf/press_20140327_01.pdf
  8. Another option is to add a big external card, move what you can and be selective of the apps you install.
  9. Discount offer on premier sponsor... http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/6095-special-premier-sponsor-offerfor-a-limited-time/&do=findComment&comment=329632 Ends June 30th
  10. I'd suspect a malware application before suspecting the network. Especially if it followed the phone swap. What searches have you done so far? Sent from my SPH-L720T using Tapatalk
  11. Read the article on the hidden / engineering screens in my signature line. (You'll need the pc site to see that signature - it is stripped in tapatalk) The LTE engineering screen tells you explicitly what band you are receiving for Band 25/26. Band 26 and 41 are the extended "spark" bands. In signal check pro, it is listed on the "provider" section of the LTE block. "Sprint B26" for band 26. Plain "Sprint" for band 25. If you add a note for the sector, you will also get corresponding sector ID's that have different series between B25 and B26 I haven't seen band 41 yet so I don't know how those will display. As for the donations, that is what keeps the site running. If you're getting anything useful at all, (like this information - hint - hint) you should at least try the $20 and see how the sponsor section looks. Then once you see how useful that is, realize how much more detailed the data is in Premier. There are a lot of people that gather (and enter / maintain) a lot of information about these towers and spend a lot of effort beyond even the donations to post info for the rest. If you see sensorly tracks out in the boonies, those are likely (premier) sponsors out wandering the back roads mapping which towers have gone online, their sector numbers, and frequency bands. The same thing goes on in the cities -but they aren't as obvious because of the higher density of users there.
  12. Visit www.sensorly.com Sponsor gets location details on that baseline 4g data. Details about spark B26/B41 you can only get at premier level. Budget 20 a week and you'll be there soon enough. Sent from my SPH-L720T using Tapatalk
  13. If you can get 1x, that's okay. Maybe. Alternatively, if you don't need data, the voice quality is *much* better on voice over wifi. If you do use both, you see some degradation. Sent from my SPH-L720T using Tapatalk
  14. The good thing about it is that it gets you simultaneous voice and data. Sent from my SPH-L720T using Tapatalk
  15. Visit Sensorly.com A lot of the rural tracks off interstate between Omaha and Lincoln and central iowa, north and east of Des Moines are laid down by mine. Audubon, Carroll, Fort Dodge, Webster City are all towers I mapped last weekend. Sent from my SPH-L720T using Tapatalk
  16. Interesting. It worked for me. I haven't had to go looking for another option. I wonder if an update that happened after I retrieved mine closed that off or scrambled it to that app.
  17. Haven't seen any audio issues. Have seen text issues but that's network problems, not phone problems. Sent from my SPH-L720T using Tapatalk
  18. The network is supposed to be smart enough to optimize the connection. It wants you to get to your information as quickly as possible so it can shed you back off the data stream and service the next user. It's supposed to be constantly rebalancing everything to serve as many people as it can. The problem comes when users just pull data that they don't need or pull data just because they can. Then the system hits saturation and no one can do much of anything. A few thousand users trying to stream out of a packed stadium would be a fine example. Everyone periodically looking for score refreshes might be possible to service - as the data hops from user to user like bees on flowers versus a bear sitting in the flower bed.
  19. Playing around with something I'd seen but not verified before. LTE only mode. Text messages can go out, but do not come in. No idea why that would be. Sent from my SPH-L720T using Tapatalk
  20. I realize that the middle of the thread is a horrible place for this to be hidden, but it can be hot linked to on the web version and probably via tapatalk someplace. I'll update it as I find more information. I found that I cannot edit it after a certain amount of time so I have to post updates / revisions later in the thread. **caution** access and use of these screens is at your own risk. Study hard before throwing random setting switches. They are hidden for a reason. You should NOT have to hit "dial". Tapping the final "#" of the trigger should take you to the screen. If it doesn't, re-check what you entered for errors. ***************** http://tools.flashingtools.com/ (MSL reader that worked) ***************** ##DEBUG# (##33284#) password: SPRINT (777468) (LTE engineering screen - LTE connection data) ##DATA# (##3282#) "view" section - no password "edit" section requires your unique msl code (see above for discovery tool app) The radio filters can be found here. To set LTE only mode: -Scroll down the list <more> <HDR/1X Selection> (Note your personal default setting so you can return to it later! -should be "LTE+CDMA+EVDO") <LTE Only Mode> - doesn't normally require a reboot Restoring to "LTE+CDMA+EVDO" mode usually requires a reboot of the phone. ##DIAG# -no password or msl code? Use for? ##INFO# (4636) <-- MISSING! need to find equivalent screen for S4T (on some other phone models this has the "LTE only mode" toggle - see DATA above) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.blueline.signalcheck Signal check (pro only?) now records a database in the background that can be exported and retrieved from the phone. It also retrieves the B25/B26 hex as well. Both are useful for submitting data on new discoveries for the maps and spreadsheets. If you have any additions or updates, let me know and I'll update this post. -Thanks to all who helped me get this far.
  21. There's an app to retrieve your msl. Find one of my pc posts - it's in that signature with the hidden screens article or scroll back through these posts until you find it. http://tools.flashingtools.com/ Sent from my SPH-L720T using Tapatalk
  22. Love it. Use it on my home network. Hi def or simultaneous voice and internet. Gets a touch laggy if you do both on mine. Sent from my SPH-L720T using Tapatalk
  23. Oop sorry skipped past that, they're still trying to get rid of the legacy leftovers. Sent from my SPH-L720T using Tapatalk
  24. Did you make sure to get the tri-band version? Spark, sph-l720t Sent from my SPH-L720T using Tapatalk
