  1. Isn't that for the international model? Sprint might send it later in Feb or March, if the past is any indication. Sooner the better.

I hope the doze function in marshmallow works well on the s6. I've read that it did help on the nexus series.
  2. Im not going to read through all the pages but i wanted to set the record straight. This isnt like old cut in half. Now if you switch from tmobile you can pick any of their current plans and we will cut it in half. It doesnt matter what you currently are on.

Same goes for att/verizon. Pick any of their plans and we give 50% off.

    That is amazing.

For current customers - the only incentives to stay is a good network with plan for continued improvement. Begging people to stay with a carrot is bad for business/not necessary.

  3. Why should Sprint do this? The 90 day injunction that MB/MC received is costing Sprint hundreds of millions of dollars that could be used towards making Sprint better. If these two groups had switched like other groups did many months ago, it would have only cost Sprint a few million.

After February 2016, if they are still whining that they have not had enough to time, force them to use their profits to keep WiMAX up and running. They will switch quickly.

That wont happen though as the judge has already set precedent to help out "the little guys". Sprint will end up having to cave in and give them what they want, but there will probably be hard caps in place.

  4. Thanks guys!  You've been a big help.  I've learned a lot and I realize what I *don't* know.  I'm considering swapping the S6 for the note 5 for improved battery life, but I'm worried that might not live up to the hype.  So . . . Still researching that.  Sometimes I wish I was just the type of person that went out and bought a phone and was happy with it.  Here I am configuring all sorts of crap the avg user probably doesn't do to eek out battery life.  Ah!

If battery life is a big selling point get a case with built in backup battery. I know mophie sells them for iphone and galaxy phones.

  5. With the 'burgh being picked as one of the regional HQ's for Sprint's restructuring does that mean anything for our network?

Will we see a big push from NGN?

I know there are now 2 Sprint stores (non-corporate) in the South Hills Village mall. One just opened next to a T-mobile kiosk the other is on the opposite side of the mall. Not sure if that is an indicator of anything but it's certainly not a bad sign.

  6. Wasn't this expected.

I thought Sprint would be moving up or at least generating a few more wins than it currently has. There have been more dropped calls than I would have expected in the recent reports as well. Makes me think maybe optimization is on-going vs maybe an impact from re-farming spectrum for 10x10, vs a bad testing device, vs wonky RootMetrics scoring.

At this point it looks like Sprint has been "stable" from 1st half.

  7. For us that do live here, most believe that AT&T is the best carrier in Chicago. It's mostly true, downtown is packed with small cells everywhere. Indoor coverage is the force to be reckoned with (only sprint comes close followed by Verizon).

Everyone I know that had Sprint were more budget minded. Most of them fled to T-Mobile, one to Verizon, and another fled to Verizon after Sprint bought out the US Cellular assets here. All the AT&T users I know are still with AT&T and would never leave unless the network just literally melted down one day.

I thought you lived in Gary, IN

  8. Me too. They were pretty mum on NGN. Hopefully the 2H 2015 and 1H 2016 RootMetrics results speak for themselves as Carrier Aggregation is deployed across the country.

Marcelo did say Sprint would be using non traditional vendors for deployment of NGN. Maybe that has something to do with the lack of detail (novel business plan/doesn't want to let competition know their hand)

  9. I must be the only one who likes this plan. The reason I don't like the sprint plan is I have to trust sprint to upgrade my town which is the worst performing in Orange County, Aliso Viejo. Who knows how long downtown or my neighborhood will take to even get LTE. The downtown has a chance, my neighborhood, not likely. By giving a consumer's a choice we get to perform the deployment for TMO. I already got my business on the pre-order list for this device about a month ago as well. This is a "disruptive" strategy at very low cost to Tmobile. I agree that it could violate terms of service though for consumer customers.

According to the ars article the femtocell has a range of 3000 feet, which is about the same as wifi. How is that disruptive?

I can see the utility in voice reliability as I didn't know about the ecsfb issue with airrave.

I think it's a joke t mobile is playing on its customers to see if they really can get them to drink the Kool aid

  10. To provide coverage indoors where your signal may be weak. WiFi calling works, but it's not as good as a femtocell solution imo. There are no settings to mess with, nothing to turn on, it just works and is compatible with all phones.

If reliable calling is what is being touted as the advantage then Sprint has had a solution for years...Airrave. Other than that by using the LTE femtocell T mobile is offering you are essentially paying for the same home service twice with your ISP and your cell carrier.

  11. Vox Media is best understood as a network of sites designed to be a stalking horse for putting mainstream Democrat-friendly talking points in front of audiences not normally inclined to pay attention to political news sites. Any factual or substantive content is there just to get the page views for their underlying political agenda. So the more click-baity the content, the better.

Democrat? Tech in general is more left leaning/liberal friendly but I don't know if I'd agree that they are Democrat conspiracy sites.

The Verge has become more click baity though...maybe because there's profit to be had!

  12. So Apple made a quarterly profit of $51 billion. I know it flies in the face of the valley culture but I'd like to see them do something akin to the oil baron days. Like build a huge monument, buy a politician or two, or maybe donate one quarter's profit to sprint. :D
