  1. First off, become a member and you'll get great info, such as maps showing locations of NV upgraded towers (cheaper than 10/month too!). Second, in my area our legacy towers were Lucent, and out NV equipment was Samsung. Legacy equipment did not hand-off to NV equipment (or vise versa), leading to constant drop calls. Good luck!
  2. http://www.att.com/gen/press-room?pid=24790&cdvn=news&newsarticleid=36989&mapcode=consumer%7Cmk-att-wireless-networks Saw this in the news...wish it was Sprint. Sprint service is horrible here during an event. The only (usable) coverage is WiMAX.
  3. I always switch to my WIMAX device if I'm headed there for a game or an event. 3G signal there is useless and WiMAX is great! I call it the hidden network. Sad to hear about the 4G LTE too.
  4. The property owner is probably making more money leasing to cell companies than apartments!
  5. The skinny panels are probably Sprint's legacy panels, those are coming down. Since you live in the PNW, Sprint went with Samsung, so check out this thread here. You will see the large panels that have 2 RRUs per panel. One RRU is for 1900 and the (smaller) RRU is for 800. I'm north of Seattle and have not seen an LTE site with 2 RRUs per panel. Also, you can look at how many cables connect to the bottom of the panel. If you see 6, it's a good sign that it is setup for 800. Scroll down the thread and you'll see panels for the IBEZ zone, those are the ones I've seen around here, One RRU per panel.
  6. It will take a lot longer than just next year. I think the BIGGEST indicator is the type of LTE panels I'm seeing. All of the ones I've seen are the special IBEZ panels. I think that is a big indicator on the timeline Sprint expects. They are willing to add special panels vs adding regular panels and just drop in card when approval is granted. So even if the US Govt and the Canadian Govt shake on it, you will have to deal with another site to site roll out. Site roll out is $$! Like I said above, check out the type of panels at converted sites. If you see the 800MHZ RRU or the (I think) 6 wire "wall" that plugs into the panel, then you will probably get the 800 MHZ. Head to the how to ID a Samsung site..great post with pics to help you out. Please report back, i think it'd be great to see where the 800 MHZ line is located. Agreed! Working with not just one but TWO govts. Sprint needs to add more micro sites like this one (it isn't sprint) which is still costly, but not as costly as the footprint is much smaller. GOOGLE Maps One thing to consider and something I've come to depend on is VZW's network. Here in the PNW there is no comparison, but luckily we've been able to use their network. Unfortunately, VZW is looking at deploying a full VOLTE and they must use other spectrum to complete this. They will, in many years (I hope) turn off their EVDO network to free up spectrum for LTE.
  7. Sprint TD-LTE sounds cool, but I'm not excited. While it will be great to have the speeds and capacity, I'm afraid coverage will continue to be poor in and around the Seattle area. Sprint needs to complete with VZW, who seem to kill Sprint with towers. The fact that Sprint's 800 Mhz coverage is not being built out is kinda of depressing. TD-LTE is just overlay, not penetration. VZW has 700 Mhz and a crazy amount of towers compared to Sprint. The only bright spot is that Clear is only on 40% of Sprint towers, so there will be a few exceptions where we could gain coverage. Side note, I do like how Clear places their tower location on their coverage maps.
  8. I'm a little bummed as it appears Sprint is not installing 800 Mhz on the towers in the North Sound. I believe this is because of the Canadian IBEZ. Take a look at this thread, it will give you an idea on how to tell if you have 800 gear on your tower (scroll to bottom). With all the hills and trees, we need 800mhz. Even if we get a better contract with Canada, it will only take longer for crews to add the 800mhz gear. What a pain. http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/3906-how-to-spot-sprint-antennas-and-rrus-samsung-style/ The big indicators are the RRU there are 2 for 800 and the look of the panel, 4 connectors vs 6 (I think)
  9. I've only seen increases on 4G towers. I think the main reason is most locations don't have fiber yet.
  10. Does that include CDMA 1x voice or just EVDO and LTE? Is this Sprint specific? Isn't VZW LTE 700 Mhz? Sad news...Seattle area has trees and hills, we need good penetration coverage.
  11. this? http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/3227-network-visionlte-west-michigan-market-grand-rapidslansingkalamazoo/?p=104996
  12. I had this happen about 4 different times...for me it was my phone. I hit restart and data worked fine afterwards.
  13. Anyone having drop call problems? I live near a 4G tower and EVERY time I leave the tower's footprint I drop a call. I recall someone mentioning that this is a reported problem with the 4G rollout. Is this true? Seems to be happening to me. I remember first hearing about it and not caring, but it's becoming a pain.
  14. check out this link http://sensorly.com/map/4G/US/USA/Sprint/lte_310sprint It will give you a sense of where their is coverage. If you don't see an area on the map, the map it yourself. or become a sponsor! They do a great job updating the locations of active LTE towers!
  15. I think the Everett data we are seeing on sensorly is from a tower in Lake Stevens. I think the signal is carrying over the valley into Everett. I drove around to all the towers locations and did not see LTE equipment (and no bars).
  16. I found a tower! 4G in Monroe...you need to zoom pretty close to see my sensorly purple!
  17. Cool! Lynnwood looks pretty solid on sensorly. Remember, if you are driving 60mph down a freeway you will lose signal pretty quickly, that's why there are towers every few miles
  18. Glad to see the speed has increased. When I tested it in early March, I got only 2megs down and actually had faster upload speeds. Doesn't it seem odd that they'd light up LTE in Granite Falls, of all places? Were you able to get signal in "downtown" Granite Falls?
  19. I think this is what you are talking about, read his post: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/1269-network-visionlte-west-washington-market-seattlepuget-sound-region/page__view__findpost__p__114927
  20. I wouldn't be surprised if you are getting signal from the Canyon Park because if you look at the S. Sound towers, LTE is bouncing all over the water and in this case, it might be bouncing off Lake Washington. One other thing to consider is that it might be an active tower nearby. When I went to the Granite Falls site last week I got LTE, but even right near the tower it wasn't much. The signal faded fairly quickly. This week they may have increased the power because sensorly is showing a larger footprint. Again, I had NO idea how this stuff works. Best bet is to look at the panels and see if you see an RUU (don't confuse with VZW). One thing at the Granite Falls site was seeing the new fiber line they installed. I could see it come off the pole and could make out the recent dig marks in the ground.
  21. New site in Mill Creek? or a strong signal from canyon park?
  22. Checked out the Granite Falls site, it's live! I did some mapping, but I'm a little concerned that the signal couldn't reach the City, which can't be more then a few miles away. So at this site it looks like they are using Comcast as their internet provider. Speeds weren't the best but ping was great, in the 60s. I was more impressed with the 3G speeds (2megs down) than the LTE speeds 6-8megs down).
  23. Granite Falls, interesting. I may head out there tomorrow. I wonder if these tower workers are pinging sensorly once they lite up a tower. Because I find it hard to believe that someone was just driving up to GF and turned on sensorly.
  24. I think someone forgot to turn off their "electronic devices" aboard an airplane. Haha, awesome!
