Peoria, Pekin, Morton, and Washington have officially been added to the sprint LTE markets. Coverage maps on the website confirm it. they will probably announce it on Monday like they have been doing lately.

A couple of weeks ago there were sprint vehicles at a U.S. Cellular tower outside of Mackinaw And now it seems that there is Samsung network vision equipement on it. Any Ideas? My phone also goes from Sprint 1x800 from the tower in Morton and then to 1xRTT and it says I am on sprint and get almost full bars but my phone still says I am roaming on Sprint. Could it be a transition from U.S. Cellular tower to Sprint.
( U.S. Cellular has 3 Towers in a 5 Mile Radius.)

I was Just thinking of this also. It irrelivant but why does Sprint use 6 bars for indications but every other carrier uses Fours. any Ideas just wondering if there is any reasoning.

I dont think it will be a year from now. Sprint plans to be wrapping up things by the middle of the year. It will be great to see Sprint launch LTe in Peoria, Washington, Morton, And Pekin. Also does anyone know what is going on in Glaesburg they were the first area to start seeing LTE and they still dont have anything in Galesburg. Is everyhting on delay because of the Freezing Temps. TIRED OF WINTER. Spring Pleaase.

Is it possible to have just a Data tower without voice on it? Because i passed a tower that has new antennas and the whole nine yards but that's all it has is the lte.

Other than that look at the speeds I was getting while sitting in Morton Krogers Parking Lot.
30 Mbs down and 10 Mbs down. Sorry picture wouldnt upload..
-
On my way home my phone went into roaming and when I checked the network I was it said Sprint. My bars increased once I hit the roaming area but it still continued to say Sprint. I have pictures below.
Then I thought that 1x800 would increase in coverage but it hasn't so far. It has been live for about four or five months and it gets the same signal strengths as 1900Mhz. Does Sprint limit the distance until everything is launched fully.

Over the past few weeks I have been getting over 1mbps on eharp in downtown Bloomington in the morning, the afternoon it is not nearly as fast, this morning there was no 3g service. Is this what happens when they are upgrading towers to lte
Yes usually upgrades is the cause of service issues. and on sensorly it shows lte just west of Bloomington on 122

On sprints website that shows what towers have had updates usually the ones that have been Activated say two Data speed upgrades. Is this how they label Lte towers. Maybe one 3g upgrade and The other Lte. Also why dont they label anything on the towers about upgrading to 800mhz as voice upgrade.

Tower in Morton south end on queen wood is running 4g got it in Mackinaw now

That sucks. I had Verizon in Minier and the service was abysmal.
Yeah I had Verizon to and they sucked in Haritage lake even though there was a tower in Mackinaw. Verizon isnt what they make themselves out to be.

I would guess you would roam on Verizon then since us cellular is no longer in this area. but i can relate i live In mackinaw.
16 days we will find out.

What will become of the site if one was roaming off such a site? I live in Minier and roam of a tower outside of town.

In the last financial report USCC it was mentioned that they are exploring what can be done with those assets including selling them. It may have been an earlier report so if I am off a quarter sorry about that. Maybe USCC thought they could lease those towers to Sprint but that didn't pan out. Outside of the recently sold markets, I look for USCC to sell the rest of the network in the next year or two. The latest billing issues and reception problems after 4G upgrades are hastening the likelihood of a complete sale of USCC. The next question becomes who will buy them Verizon or Sprint.
I would love to see Sprint buy the assets if they come up for sale as Sprint could use a boost in the rural areas of Illinois.
I wish they would to U.S. Cellular has awesome coverage in Illinois and would love to see Sprint Buy them. Verizon Sucks hope they don't get it. I moved from those greedy people with a sucky network.
-
And why are there three U.S. Cellular towers within five miles of each other. I have just always wondered that.
-
i have a question to why US Cellular would leave those towers empty when Sprint could have bought them.

Lexington has LTE. so how long do you think Bloomington will have LTE?
-
Anyone in Peoria getting LTE by the Shops at Grand Prairie. And Pekins LTE screams just like Washingtons LTE 30+ Mbs consistently.
-
Pekin is covered with LTE now tried to get it sensored but only did it by Menards and Walmart kept it until past Springfield road going towards Tremont.
-
Pekin has Lte and more parts of Morton have it it slowly growing.
-
800mhz doesn't go as far as i thought it would because mackinaw by IGA would get 1-3 bar on 1900mhz but 800 i onlyget 1-2 bars. why is this?
-
Anything new going on in central Illinois.

Does any body know why The Lte tower by the interstate in Morton not pulling out good Lte coverage. I have went by both of the towers that are updated by the interstate and only get LTE 1/4 of a mile within the towers range. The tower On down towards east Peoria on Jackson doesn't have LTE on it. any ideas.

The current Iphone 5s and 5c is compatible with Sprints 1900Mhz band and 800Mhz on LTE just not compatible with 2500Mhz. At least you will get the better LTE coverage.
