Has anyone have problems with making phone calls lately? I used to be able to make phone calls reliably all over my house but now I would get dropped calls.
Have they focused most of Los Angeles' frequencies for data? I'm wondering about this since I've noticed my data speeds on Band 25 have improved.
I haven't noticed any problems with calls. What part of town are you having these problems?
Not to say nothing else is happening with B25, but B25 improved when Sprint added a 2nd Carrier and made some coverage adjustments at roughly the same time.

I guess it shows other carriers are not ignoring their network, either.
This is definitely the case in L.A. Metro.
Verizon has built a substantial number of small cells and has been upgrading their macro sites for the last 6+ months.
T-Mobile has added B12 to nearly every site.
AT&T has gone on a massive building binge in the last 6 months. (Mostly macro sites.)
And Sprint has just started adding small cells. Now if they'd just get around to upgrading all these Clear sites out here.

This article suggests that Mobilitie may start using its own name on permit applications instead of DBA/subsidiary names.

I really hope the FCC steps in to help sprint speed this up. This is getting carried away. Or can the FCC even do anything at this point ?
It's unlikely that the FCC would do anything at this point because late last year Sprint and San Bernardino County reached an agreement on schedule and money. There are incentives from Sprint for the County finishing ahead of schedule.

The Mobilitie/Sprint sites look good in person. I drove by several of them today. I was late for a meeting so I didn't stop to test properly, but they did not appear to be on air.
I also came across two more sites in the same general area that haven't been posted yet.

I want to be more positive, but there are a lot of pictures of the same location.
While it's true that the sites pictured are mostly clustered in and around the same area (K-Town), I wouldn't interpret these photos as a full list of sites that have been deployed.
The host of those pictures is not necessarily trying to catalog every site. His motivation appears to be to show the aesthetics of cell site installations. If you read his bio, you'll see that he's a "contract wireless planner" that advises governments around the country.

That is pretty awesome, have you found any live ones?
I know where these are. I'm going to stop by in the next week or two and see if they've gone live.

For those that had any doubt about Sprint being all in on small cell deployment..
Big to atomic50 for the shots!!!
Wow, LA Metro is really starting to move along!
Interesting, because one of those sites is in a spot that isn't that terrible for coverage. If that's the density they're going for, coverage is going to be great.

On a related note: the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors had a budget update meeting yesterday. I'm waiting on the Clerk to post some of the supporting documents. I hope to see if there's some guidance for spending on the rebanding project. It might give a hint to where they are in the process. It's kind of a long shot, but some info is better than none.
UPDATE: Only a PPT slideshow was posted that really doesn't have any granular budget details.

I'm not seeing a thread for that
There's more discussion following that post as well.

Sounds like a nightmare for Sprint. So it'll be a long while before Southern California sees any real improvements if this lower capex spending is real
There are real improvements happening right now in SoCal. Check out the Marcelo thread for small cells in L.A.

You mean besides the fact that guy works for Sprint, and that its Sprint equipment? I dont know, just a hunch!
And his tweet says Sprint/Mobilitie.

Let's forget about all this "faux 5G" talk and concentrate on the real deal!
Check this out!!!
Sprint small cell install with UE Relay backhaul in SoCal..
That doesn't look like an ALU MetroCell. Any idea what it is?

Another site soon to get 2.5. Note the plans were submitted over 1 year ago on 4/20/15. It takes a long time in San Diego to get anything done.
https://www.sandiego.gov/sites/default/files/pc-16-044_sprint_canyonside_park.pdf
12 antennas and 24 RRUs!
They're using Commscope DHHTT65B-3XR antennas that are tri-band, but the only RRUs listed on the plan are ALU TD RRH8x20-25s. Aren't those just B41?

I would post one, but the official engineering screen is broken on the Nexus 5x. Which is the only Sprint phone I have.

How? If the spectrum has been cleared and they're deploying it. Isn't it possible that they've turned some clusters on.

Can you post some shots of your engineering screens and the location?
I'll admit, I'm skeptical, but I would be thrilled if you did find an active B26 site in Los Angeles.

Why not just say we have put aside 10billion for capex?
Just saying 3 billion makes everyone go "oh no, here we go again"
A publicly traded company can't legally just make up figures like that, especially if they vary by $7 Billion.

Any more updates on the rebanding progress?
Once the rebanding is complete, how long will it be before we can expect band 26 in LA & OC counties?
Sent from my SM-G935P using Tapatalk
I have nothing new to report. I've reached out to both the County and Sprint, but neither has given an update.
I wouldn't read too much into a lack of answers. It probably just means they don't want to talk to John Q. Public.

In New York City for example, Transit Wireless came in and put DAS systems throughout the subway system, and allowed all 4 carriers to use them for service.
The City of Los Angeles is installing hundreds of Philips SmartPoles throughout the city.
Supposedly any carrier can use them via Crown Castle.

Are these small cells in LA ? Exact location ?
I posted the exact locations in the thread below, but you have to be a sponsor to get access:
http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/3369-report-in-progress-sites-here/?p=477729
Generally, you can find these type of sites in the hilly terrain surrounding the city.
-
It might not look like it, but all of these sites have LTE. Sponsors can get the details in the "Report Sites in Progress" thread.

For this website, that's actually not that bad of an idea to be honest. If I were you, I would be copyrighting this idea ASAP.

Ok. I'll play. Set the clock to October 1983 and I'll have dibs on CLR A spectrum in every market for free.

Owned by the city and long termed lease by Crown Castle who in turn leases it out to generally Verizon at the moment.
I have a request in with the City for a list of the SmartPole site locations, so it will be interesting to see if any of them would be useful to Sprint, or if they were solely placed with Verizon in mind.

Sprint service on the Metro Red and Purple lines is coming in 2-3 months. Verizon service just launched.

I completely agree that LA should be a top priority. Its population density makes it a smart area to invest in.
We're starting to see that investment through the Mobilitie small cell deployment. I'd hope the other priorities include converting Clear sites and identifying areas that need new macro sites.
