  1. Alright guys I thought we were all suppose to be friendly. Why are people attacking other people who are trying to get to NV sites!!!??? The guy was just trying to get a ride to help us out here and look what happens. He gets the crap beat out of him...its a shame....This was posted on KSL. UT man cleared of brutal beating of NV hitchhiker. I think its funny that I think of NV as Network Vision now and not Nevada haha. http://www.ksl.com/?sid=26636923&nid=148&title=ut-man-cleared-of-brutal-beating-of-nv-hitchhiker&fm=home_page&s_cid=queue-8
  2. So stopped by the site in south weber today and took shots of all the equipment that was put up.
  3. Actually with the iPhone the bars actually do tell you the LTE strength when connected to LTE. It doesn't for any other phone but for some reason the iPhone is programed so that it will show you the strength of LTE in the bars.
  4. When NV is done the quality of the signal of 3g/voice will improve on the 1900 spectrum. And yes with NV we will see significant improvement with 800 frequency on both voice and LTE. With that said LTE signal is more fragile than a 3g signal. So yes the 800 frequency of LTE will help to overcome that issue a bit for building penetration but still the LTE signal is more fragile. So far i've experienced no issue when I'm in a building with LTE on the 1900 frequency. So you could see no difference from your previous 3g signal but then again you may. Obviously there are many factors into the quality of your signal such as downtilt and buildings ect. So in short LTE signal is more fragile but you may not notice a difference. Hope that answers your question.
  5. So when I first got sprint towards the first of the year I got a Galaxy S2 for the sole purpose of WiMAX. I guess in salt lake its better but here in Ogden it was not useable in my experience. I could never get a signal and then when I did it was extremely temperamental and it was not useable so I ditched the S2 after about 2 months and now happily sit and wait for LTE with an LTE device. I have heard WiMAX was great in other areas but I was only able to get a signal and use it once and of course right as you walk into a building or behind a tree you lose the signal for WiMAX. All of my experiences with LTE have been A LOT better and the signal holds on better (because its a lower frequency) so yes LTE is definitely worth the wait and will be an overall better experience. Plus there will be the upgrade to LTE-A which sprint will be able to deploy more quickly once devices come out that support it.
  6. Decided to post the pic of the cables coming out just for kicks and giggles. Like I said still legacy equipment everywhere so no need for me to post those pics that I took.
  7. Well South Weber/South Ogden doesn't have service today so I was thinking maybe NV upgrades? I drove to the south weber tower and saw cables that they pulled coming out of the tower and just sitting there. All cabinets and equipment is still legacy though. Maybe they are pulling some fiber? I didn't see any orange spray paint or anything though but maybe fiber is already pulled to this site just not connected. I know t mobile shares this tower as well. I also drove by the south ogden site but this one has a barbed wire fence around it and is on a hill so I couldn't get up close and personal and really look so see what was going on because I wasn't getting service from that site either but the panels I could see and those are still legacy panels. I took some pics of the south weber site but like I said everything is still legacy equipment so I didn't post them and theres not much to tell with the cables coming out of the tower. I'm leaving out of town again this week so if someone wants to keep an eye on those sites that would be great. Especially the one in south weber.
  8. There are some that are hidden whether it be a rooftop or sometimes they put stuff on a water tower around the rim and it's really hard to spot!
  9. My phone is no longer an LTE/NV virgin!!!! I know its sad, but my phone has never connected to a upgraded tower whether it be just a 3g upgrade or LTE. But driving to the airport this morning obviously I was looking forward to getting some LTE on my phone from the 2 towers that are live in salt lake. I broke in the phone naturally with some speed tests. I just wanted to share because it made me happy My little phone is growing up so fast it brings tears to my eyes.
  10. P.S When you scroll to the bottom and are under the S4GRU Club section go to the sponsors section and there you will find the NV Utah map thread
  11. This will show you towers that are complete and in progress. http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/517-nv-sites-complete/ The in progress ones are there because of sponsors like us that go to the sites and look for any indications of work being done such as backhaul being put in, boom lifts, people on the tower, utility trucks at the tower ect. this link is of all the towers in the Utah market. http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/600-network-vision-site-map-colorado-utah-and-idaho-markets/ Something I would suggest is going and subscribe or "follow" "NV Utah Progress Map" and also this thread and the utah, colorado, idaho thread. the place to find most stuff is click on forum at the top and then go scroll through that stuff. The information for just sponsors is down at the bottom under "S4GRU Club" and one place you will find the links I posted is under interactive maps. Thats a good one to go to. Again remember to click "follow this topic" so then you will get automatic updates when someone posts things.
  12. Welcome!! That is correct. Sprint won't show LTE coverage until they launch it in a city. Obviously you can see we have a few towers that have went live with LTE but it has to cover a certain number of POP's before they will launch LTE in an area and it will show on their website. If you want to have some insider info on what towers are being worked on and where all the sprint towers are ect. then become a sponsor! Trust me you won't regret it! Again welcome! Here is a link to answer any questions about being a sponsor and how to become a sponsor.http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/1195-information-about-s4gru-sponsorship-levels-and-how-to-become-a-sponsor/?hl=%20sponsor%20%20info
  13. I think you were just misunderstood and people hate the apple android debate (myself included). I think that the debates happen so fast and there are too many people that hurry and get off on the debate that if people even think they catch a wiff of a debate they try and stop it. I didn't take it that way from what you wrote. Don't worry about it. Its all gravy. Keep up the great tower hunting and questions are good! Don't let that stop you from asking questions!! Even if it is about how a screen shot looks because you like it
  14. Beta 5 is out as all of you should know. Has anyone noticed the lock screen doesn't click when you unlock it anymore? Wonder if its a bug or if they did that on purpose. When you lock your phone its still clicks so I wonder. Yes beta 4 was pretty stable and I haven't had any problems with beta 5 yet
  15. I heard the crime rate up there is terrible!! Be careful! Those cows get vicious and take you for all you got!
  16. I've been following the Phoenix market for a while and I really feel bad for you guys. I'm sure things have improved with all of the 3g upgrades, but that must be frustrating to see all that and no LTE. I'm heading down there for some interviews in a couple weeks and I will keep my eyes peeled in my travels for any indications of backhaul being installed at any sites I will pass by. I'm wishing you guys the best down there!
  17. Yeah I live and work in Ogden and nothing on my phone. Obviously I could just not be by that tower but just sayin. I got way excited when I heard that but I'm a little dissapointed now. Since Robert or one of the others with knowledge of when LTE sight goes live hasn't said anything, I'm pretty sure it didn't happen today.
  18. haha that is a great video clip. With a few things that are talked about on this site, my face does the same thing as the shorter minion so thats why I have it. Plus I love the movie. Anyway the grey lines in sensorly just mean weak signal so -112 dbm or less (I think thats it or its less then -110 dbm something like that) anyway so I was curious if where the grey is with a weak signal if LTE is even usable or if you can just discredit that mapping. Because connecting lots of places AT&T has lots of grey areas.
  19. AT&T has a lot of grey lines. Obviously LTE got picked up in those areas but since its a really weak signal is it even really useable?
  20. The best way is to become a sponsor. http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/1195-information-about-s4gru-sponsorship-levels-and-how-to-become-a-sponsor/ This will provide you with all site locations as well as site ID numbers and other privileged information. Once you become a sponsor I'd be glad to share with you some of the sites I've found around Ogden due to information Robert provided me that are either rooftop sites or stealth sites and you could then help us out by keeping an eye in some parts of ogden that I'm sure I don't get to very often. It will be helpful to have another eye in the Ogden area. I'm glad we have people around salt lake because I don't get down there much either. Its sad but my poor iPhone 5 has never connected to an upgraded tower. Although It will tomorrow when I travel to salt lake Looking forward to the LTE for half a mile on I-15 oh yeah!!
  21. It could be NV improvements and it could not be. Just depends where in ogden. I know there is some towers getting close to starting in ogden but your issue doesn't mean NV upgrades necessarily. Definitely take what sprint reps have to say with a grain of salt. I know a few weeks ago at my house I was constantly roaming and would keep dropping calls even outside of my house (which never happens) and I had all around poor service. I called in and nothing was going on but the problem resolved itself within about a week and its back to normal. Also there is a site I drive by several times a day and there has been no work at all started on it. For about two weeks while I was at a park right by the site my phone consistently went from roaming to sprint to roaming to sprint to roaming to sprint...well you get the picture...it was actually entertaining to watch. And my signal kept jumping all over the place to full bars with sprint to 1-2 bars then to roaming but I know for a fact no NV has even begun on the site. It just freaked out for 1-2 weeks and now its normal again when I'm by that tower. So do take what the reps have to say with a grain of salt. Something funky could just be going on with the tower. I know they are very close to starting with a few towers in ogden though so it could be NV but...well...don't get your hopes up.
  22. you guys see my profile picture of the minions? Yeah with you guys talking about the hex id's and cell id stuff my face looks like the one on the right. Thats generally how I feel hence the picture
  23. Yeah the site was just barely accepted! We weren't sure if they were going to turn on the LTE in a few days or if they lit it up right when it was accepted. Obviously it is lit up! Thanks for the update!!! I'm curious if you ran a speed test while you were on LTE?
