  1. Why do you have to one up me like that? Getting into the real nitty gritty. Your time will come and I will one up you...just you wait. haha
  2. Well...possibly. At some sites here in Utah maybe. It does depend on when crews get the panels and rrus installed. Sometimes (though not often from what I see) backhaul is there we are just waiting on the equipment at the tower. What it sounds like in salt lake and Provo area yes we are waiting on backhaul to light up at least one lte tower. Just an FYI Up in the ogden/Layton area there is about 4-5 sites I drive by occasionally and nothing has happened yet that I've seen up here. Who knows maybe the backhaul will be installed before the equipment on the tower. I have seen a lot of t mobile tower upgrades and a few new towers for t mobile go up here though. When I first started tower hunting and I didn't know the locations I saw a tower go up by my house and I got really excited thinking it was sprint but alas it was t mobile. Curse you t mobile upgrades!
  3. Backhaul is the fiber being run to the tower. Just like your home has DSL or cable or fiber optics for your Internet, the cell towers needs to connect to the Internet through a hard line/Microwaves so we get Internet on our devices. Sprint is getting fiber run to each cell tower (or microwave) and that's the backhaul. So in short the stuff to make your Internet run fast
  4. Yes its a little disheartening...I drove around to some sites yesterday in the ogden, layton, and fruit heights/farmington area and I haven't seen any work being done on any of the sites. Though I know substantial work is being done from north salt lake down to american fork area. I'd be happy to just see the 3g/800 smr updates up here in the northern cities like ogden/layton area. You should be seeing some LTE sites go up soon though from north salt lake south. To borrow a phrase from my friend fall out boy...we all want sprint to "light em' up, up, up, light em' up, up, up, light em' up, up, up!
  5. I actually don't live in the Phoenix market but I used that as an example for my question. But from what I'm seeing you should have 4G LTE pop up by the end of this summer and you should have quite a few towers done by the end of this year with the backhaul. NV should be fully completed by I think 2nd or 3rd quarter next year so you definitely don't have to wait till the end of next year for it!
  6. I'm in Utah and I've been having a lot of issues on my iPhone 5 as well. For the last 3-4 days while at my house I have mainly been roaming so it says "extended" where it should say sprint. I occasionally will pick up sprint in my house but it will only be 1 bar. Since it is constantly switching back and forth from sprint to roaming my battery drains extremely fast! I haven't been able to make calls from inside my house recently either. When I go outside I still get pretty poor service and I cut in and out. I was thinking it was a NV thing as to where they were upgrading towers around me but i've driven past some of the sites and there is no work going on. I will be driving somewhere to call into customer care ( I don't have a landline). You are not alone in struggling with the iphone 5 issue on sprint. I wonder if it might be a PRL issue?
  7. Thanks for the response! I was just under the impression that when a NV 3g tower came on that the backhaul was already in place.
  8. I have a question...so I know its been discussed in other threads that sprint is upgrading every single tower in their network (thats the very basics of knowing what NV is) and that sprint 4g lte will have an advantage because instead of doing a "blanket" treatment of LTE like att does they will upgrade every tower. My question is will the towers that have been upgraded and are 3g only, will they some time in the future see LTE? For example Phoenix, AZ is getting a ton of 3g updates and it looks like they will get the LTE "blanket" effect. Looking at other markets there are a lot of just 3g tower updates instead of 3g/4g updates. So I'm just wondering if that is how it will stay or if all towers eventually will have 4g turned on because they are capable of it now with the new backhaul and equipment at the site.
