  1. You know what's crazy depressing? Everyone here is complaining at not getting a break as an existing customer, where Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T all came out with newer plans which the VAST MAJORITY of their base switched to already. Thus the newer offers work better for them because they are already on higher plans.

No one seems to make an apples to apples comparison, just moving goal posts.

  2. Hi all,

Sorry to semi-resurrect a thread, but I figured it would be better than starting a new one. I'm curious about when we can expect to see higher speeds on band 41 uploads? I read that there was something involving CA or something similar for uploads as well that was in the pipeline, even if it's a long term thing. I'd appreciate any guidance,

    Thanks!

    Thomas

I don't think you will see higher upload speeds, it's a ratio for download/upload with a finite spectrum resource.

  3. But on a realistic note, what people forget is that this plan goes directly against T-Mobile's unlimited data plan, rather than Sprint. I hate to say it but in most urban markets it's usually T-Mobile vs. Verizon, and Sprint & AT&T picking up the rest. This will stem the tide of Verizon defectors, and also entice some folks to come back.

As for me personally, I carry a Verizon phone as well as my Sprint phone for work, and travel the country on business travel. Very rarely do I run into a place where my Sprint phone doesn't work as well, so it's not worth the expense to switch.

  4. Bravo to Verizon for bringing a truly unlimited plan back to market! Hopefully now AT&T will drop the television service tie-in, then I could save an additional $10-$20 monthly.

Hopefully this brings a lot of success back to Verizon with its unrestrictive audio/video streaming, forcing T-Mobile and Sprint to drop those ridiculous restrictions. However, I wonder how Verizon's network will be able to handle this extra traffic, considering they don't have that much more spectrum than T-Mobile.

One thing this could do though, is force the need for mergers, and I definitely think this is going to happen. AT&T with T-Mobile, then an interesting situation left with Dish. To keep it a three-way competition, Verizon will get Dish and its spectrum.

Sprint already has the nonrestrictive audio/video streaming, just as a premium upgrade. Verizon already bakes in it, do you see what they did there?

  5. So I'm using Google Voice, integrated with Sprint, to get my Sprint number to ring on my work phone. Currently I use Hangouts on the work phone to get the dual dialer, but that's OTT. The Google Voice app works pretty well, but I find that if I default the phone to use the GV number as outbound calling, some of my calls fail.

    Thoughts?

  6. It just asked if I wanted to enabled enhanced messaging, then asked me to exclude Messenger from battery optimizing. And that was it. I think you're supposed to get a confirmation text from Sprint but I never got it, nor did another phone that got the same notice a few days ago. So it's not actually enabled...

    Sent from my Pixel XL

    That's exactly what happened.

I didn't realize there was an associated confirmation message.

  7. Yeah I've seen the traditional NV equipment when traveling (in San Francisco for example). I've always wondered why other carriers' lowband antennae were so tall while Sprint could cram 800mhz into such a small antenna...

Most are dedicated low-band while Sprint's equipment are dual tech. The only downside is that you can do limited tilt and power as opposed to dedicated panels.

  8. Also, band 25 is 10x10 in Buffalo market after trading spectrum with T-Mobile.  I saw definite improvement in Niagara Falls, speeds went from near unusable a lot of places indoors to a steady 3-4 mbps down.  Still no band 26 lte but at this point I think what I'd really like to see is improved density to take some load off of band 25 and get more people on band 41.

    Good to know.

I'm back in town for an event, enjoying the sweet B41 3 carriers at the hotel near the water.
