If there's no network prioritization for a data call on LTE how is it different besides using the stock dialer?
Sent from my LG-LS993 using Tapatalk
Because this is a beta service.

Its not easy to latch onto small cells. You have to be almost at a full stop to connect to them. I stopped by a gas station near the airport and connected to it while pumping gas.
Interesting, will pay closer attention next time I'm in the area.

It looks like an over the top solution like using messenger or FaceTime to make data calls to me.

No, not really. Think of it as an extension of the WiFi Calling already built into the device.

Did it come in the form of an OTA software update?
Yep, it's part of an MR

A few screenshots of the menu would be appreciated.
Sure, I'll reset the device and upload pictures later.

No QoS like the other 3? That won't be good. Their network is already saturated enough as is in some areas.
This isn't true VoLTE in the complete sense, just a way to route audio calls over LTE rather than 1x/PSTN.
That's why there is a giant BETA disclaimer on it.

I have a J7 that I just flashed the build on. The initial setup was straight forward, similar to enabling WIFI Calling, the user is prompted with a toggle to enable calls over LTE. I haven't tested any calls yet, but will do so tomorrow.
The one challenge I have is that my apartment building elevator is an RF blackhole, so I'll hand off from WIFI to 1x to 3G before reconnecting with LTE.

It would be 25MHz of 700. B12 is 10x10 and B29 is unpaired, just 5MHz.
No LTE on B5 yet!? Seems like way too much HSPA.
B12 is 5mhz, not 10mhz if I'm not mistaken.

Connected to multiple small cells in Queens near JFK.
Interesting, was just at JFK last week, didn't notice while in the Uber.

I read Bluetooth 5.0 not working 100 percent until android O is release support it.
No issues so far with any car or headset I have used.

Are you talking about B25 CA?

Yes, in DC, my S8 connected to 2 B25 carriers.

Is 8165 5x5 or 10x10?
Sent from my 2PQ93 using Tapatalk
5mhz + 5mhz G-Block

On another note, was in DC this week and picked up B25 CA quite often. EARFCN 8165 and 8665

Then they should be prepared to lose about 10mil subscribers this round rightfully so.
T-Mobile's network is nowhere near anything as stable as Verizon's network. I just did a project using T-Mobile and Verizon as backhaul for a test, and T-Mobile's coverage was sorely lacking 5 minutes away from city center.
Side by side, Verizon is > 50mbps while T-Mobile is around 3mbps.

It's the info though. Nothing new of substance.

Thank you for informing me. Is this different than what Sprint used back in the days they were a landline phone operator?
Same IP core.
Sprint has operated a wireline network for years, long before the birth of Sprint Nextel and Sprint PCS even.

Well, its good Sprint at least isn't talking about spending on having a SprintFiber service, or else we'd be discussing the merits of that versus deployment and densification spending.
Actually, I'm glad to hear from earlier posts here about Sprint's CapEx spending being up. Perhaps Sprint/Softbank may be changing their mind about the T-Mobile merger possibility?
It is good to hear Sprint is doing very well in Lombard. That is very closeby to me and if Sprint had a $90 two-line HD included non-expiry offer, with either a tax inclusive offer or a 10%-20% discount to cover the tax, which either idea would meet the rate I'm getting from T-Mobile, I'd try out Sprint for a few days, and if as good as it sounds, I'd switch.
Two things I miss about Sprint is band 41 and VQ.
FYI, Sprint has a global MPLS network for wireline, called SprintLink

You shouldn't have to update the data profile often though.
-
I'm not saying Sprint shouldn't densify, they should indeed do so, and the sooner is better. The problem is they have existing sites which do not have band 41 or ca, and those ought to be the priority first.
I believe the number of sites with no updates/3G only are down to less than 5% of the total sites nationwide. Almost all due to issues that are beyond Sprint's control.
-
I know funding is tight and I'm not trying to say I sprint should have their cake and eat it too but...
Is there a reason Sprint doesn't just slowly start to run their own back haul? Like get a crew or two going and working on it slowly? From tower to tower and eventually start to have their own fiber backbone? Like they say they're being surgical on how they spend CapEx to deploy the network in the future. Couldn't this same logic be applied to slowly running their own fiber back haul? Maybe it would take years (probably more like decades) to finish but I'd imagine it would eventually pay for it's self in the long run?
I seem to at least think that would be way more profitable in the long term than spending money on Tidal or pokemon go
Sprint's isn't a LEC, cannot just run fiber with no where to connect to. The current situation with backhaul involves AAV (alternate access vendors) or the LEC lighting up the fiber from the cell site to the switch. From there it runs on Sprint core fiber through their MPLS network.
-
As much support I have for Sprint densifying, I think Sprint ought to spend on deployment first, which ought to be less costly.
That would be providing half ass coverage to limited customers rather than full ass coverage to the core base.

We currently have about 280 sets (hotel) which I am in the process of replacing. We used some Toshiba but mostly LG in the past but I am all but set on Samsung this time. Most will be 1080p although I have purchased some 4k sets already (65 inch LED) for use in presentations \ sporting events etc and I was really impressed. I initially went to costco and got about 6 different sets and played with them. The in room sets are different from what you would buy in the store (the panel is the same, the firmware is different to support different features).
Our experience with LG was pretty poor, very high failure rate (never the panels, always the electronics). I'm hoping the samsungs will be different. I've had about 20 of them for 6 months with zero issues. While it is highly subjective I love the picture on the Samsungs, contrast, upscaling, saturation etc.
Richy,
I would recommend reaching out to Samsung directly for hotel displays. PM me if you want for more information.

I worked at a mobile retail store for a bit. I was the only one that actually knew how mobile networks work. Everyone else just knew what to say (offer accessories, always.) I've been in enough to know that cramming is pretty much a standard.
Just commenting on the thread in general.

What's that old saying? Walk a mile in their shoes...
I'd wager that 99.9% of the people on this thread have never worked in wireless retail and really have no idea what it takes to do so.

I took some screenshots of the device enabled with Calling Plus.
