  1. Appreciate the app! Use my Play Store money wisely. Is it common for a tower to transmit more than one BSL? In my short experience I've seen multiples for many towers. Could each sector have it's own BSL? If each sector had it's own BSL that would explain why the different BSLs that I've seen that I think are for the same tower have offsets in different directions.
  2. Stick to the shows! Got the Norman kiddo an upgrade to the HTC One yesterday. Said he got 4G at the I-35 & Main Walmart, but not at work on Timberdale near Jenkins (W campus) or at home (about a half mile south of the duck pond).
  3. When my GF finds me messing with her phone she just assumes that I'm checking signal/technical stuff. I think I should be offended by this?!
  4. Thanks for the info!Between the kids coming down to OKC a lot, and me being busy just haven't been up that way in a while.
  5. I'm curious about coverage in my kiddo's neighborhood, if you're out and about checking coverage maybe you could drive by E 115th Pl. S & S 102nd E? It's just east of Mingo Rd where you guys have seen signal, probably from the Memorial & 134th tower. The boy just has a 4S (no LTE) and not having any success getting info out of the Daughter-in-Law with the GS III.
  6. I think that the SE 29th & Post tower would also only do me good on the way to and from work. Even though it's closer to me than the NE 23rd & Westminster tower it's all uphill to my house, plus wondering if the Carl Albert water tower is in the line of sight.(Went to look at Google maps and the Carl Albert water tower probably doesn't shield the Sprint tower from my house after all, I'd be a bit north of any possible shielded area, but still curious how much area it does shield.) The NE 23rd & Westminster tower is much taller and also sits on much higher ground so it's the one with a clear line of sight to my house. it also has the Verizon antennas that I can "see".
  7. Ah 3707, it's been a while but I've been in that building. Still fixing LRUs in there? Adapted a TPS with a mini-USB cable for phone testing yet?
  8. This site, located between 3001 & 3333 on Base is an interesting tower. One can walk right up to it and touch it, and I saw no impediment to climbing the ladder to the top. But most of the cables run into an old brick building labeled NEXTEL and the others into a smaller building so nothing to see on the ground. Don't think the antennas reveal anything do they?
  9. Yep, looks like under 2 miles to TU54XC304. I wonder how the coverage can be so very poor there unless the signal is supposed to be concentrated up and down the Creek Turnpike, which is virtually perpendicular to a line from the tower to their house. Now I've gotta go look to see if their 4S and Galaxy SIII support 800MHz. edit - They're maybe even a little closer to TU13XC458 on Memorial between 101st and 111th.
  10. Looks rural but it's at the split of I-40 & I-240 in Oklahoma City city limits. Lots of freeway traffic to the eastern 'burbs. Hard to check out as I have to park on the freeway shoulder and climb a hill to see the tower, no access from the street, but I'll get back over there to see if anything's changed. It does show as In Progress in the NV Sites Complete thread as of today. The antennas on the left side of the pic are in the general direction of the I-240 traffic to the west, the right side antennas look to point away from the interstate by around 135 degrees, so I'm not understanding the configuration. But then I'm not sure what the radiation pattern looks like for one of these antennas either. Sorry, don't have a personal Sprint phone right now, just paying for five on my account. Will have to borrow the GF's phone to gather some data. I'd upgrade my old gray-haired mothers phone (more accessible) but that would freak her out as she can barely use her granny phone.
  11. Sure would be nice to get some better coverage in N Bixby. Kiddo at 115th between Mingo & Garnett has to have an AirRave at home. Seems a strange place to have no coverage, you can throw a rock into either Tulsa or Broken Arrow from there.
  12. Not much to show in these cell phone pics from a distance of OK03XC424, except that it's curious that there are only four antennas on the tower.
  13. Dang, the location on Google maps is correct and they really are using the high power transmission line tower (been driving around investigating all the towers in the immediate area). I didn't know they did that. Unfortunately can't get close, though I did pull off of the interstate and climb the hill to get a look. Can't really see what's going on except that there are only four antennas mounted? Nobody in the tower area on a Saturday morning. Didn't have my SLR/telephoto lens with (just took a little detour on the way to the office) so took some cell phone shots for what those are worth. I'll have to run out to the truck and forward them to email usable from the office.
  14. So it seems they're working on OK03XC424 (SE 71st & Dogwood, or where I-40 & I-240 split) about three miles S of my house. (Looks like the Google map location is about a 1/3 mile off, actually identifies a high power transmission line tower, an unlikely place for cell antennas) Weird, don't recall ever connecting to it (maybe because I'm on the other side of the transmission lines and up the hill?). At my place you usually connect to OK54XC400 (NE23rd & Westminster) four miles N and two miles W. Then if you walk to the back of the house you'll switch to the tower at NE23rd & Harper (sorry, don't know the designation, not in the upgrade list) and have your call dropped. Verizon is on these same two towers. Anyway, just wondering if there was any information I could gather on this tower that anyone would be interested in. If it's the one I think it is then from Google maps looks like I can get close to it to get some pics. Would have to borrow my GF's Photon Q to get any phone info as I've been on Verizon for the last year and 1/2 (couldn't wait around for Sprint but would love to go back for lower cost).
  15. I've been rocking my Verizon Rezound with fast LTE for a while now, but will probably switch back for unlimited data when my contract is up later this year. That'll save a lot of money too! The rest of the family members with Sprint phones on my account will be happy, though the Bixby (Tulsa) kiddos will have to wait along with lynyrd65. I assume that Oklahoma City will include Norman and Yukon. Yukon on the West side always did get a lot better signal and speeds than I ever did over on the East side - I think they just had newer towers and equipment.
  16. Yep, looking at the Sensorly map no coverage is shown sown in the SW part of town on Kell Rd. when we were in a restaurant and I was able to play with the GF's Photon Q and toggle airplane mode. We were in a coverage zone but the phone didn't switch by itself so saw no 4G LTE. So got a guesstimate on when testing might start in OKC?
  17. So it's a good sign for local Sprint that I can see eHRPD with over 2 MBs download speed (a nice increase over the usual ~.170) at my house with the GF's Photon Q? (I don't directly have a Sprint phone, just 5 that I pay for on my account) I thought that there was Sprint 4G LTE in Wichita Falls? Was there Saturday and didn't sniff any at all.
  18. Yes, new antennas would be what to look for. The trick is properly identifying the new Sprint LTE installations and differentiating them from Verizon/AT&T/T-Mobile/etc.
  19. I'd like to be on the lookout for Sprint LTE work. What are the tell tale signs of LTE installation? I've rummaged around here and elsewhere on the net a bit but still unsure. Got some info/links handy? Last year I personally jumped ship and have been rocking Verizon LTE in OKC on my HTC Rezound, no regrets there, but still have 5 other Sprint phones on my account. Bought a Motorola Photon Q for the GF so she's ready for some high speed data, and #1 son is eligible for an upgrade tomorrow.
  20. Dang but it's about time there was news at all on the OKC market. They lost my personal phone to Verizon last year but I've still got the 4 Sprint family phones that need better service. (no Sprint signal of any kind in N Bixby, which is really just S Tulsa, kids have to use an Air Rave at home) Wonder if there's any chance that Sprint's LTE will compete with Verizon's data speeds? I usually get better download speeds on the phone vs. the 25Mbps Cox Cable for the PC.
