  1. The tower next to the high school (to the south) is behind a wood fence and I couldn't see the base equipment. The antennas at the top of that tower haven't changed. I checked the cells at Hamilton/Reinbeau, Old Brice/Winchester Pike, the one on Bowen Road, the one by JCP Outlet and haven't seen anything new to them. They are almost done trenching smurf tube in for Diley Road which is funny because that's a carrier contest: one mile to the east is a brand new tower structure that went up fast but there's been some sloooooooow crews doing site work for a month. Today that tower got antennas and a concrete hut at the bottom. That's definitely not Sprint, I'm guessing Verizon as it got 3 antenna panels per sector in a rural area; WHO DOES THAT??! I digress. If they turn on 800 1XA on these two cells, the huge service hole that is Canal Winchester and Groveport would do pretty well, for peeps with capable devices. This would be a change since the only carrier in CW proper is TMO and I cuss Sprint out every time I'm there. I posted pics of the one site and the ID in the WIP thread in the sponsor area already.
  2. Just drove around there tonight. The tower on Rohr Rd has RRU's, antennas, base cabinets and fiber rough in complete. May not be too long. Quick! to the WIP thread (mobile)!! Besides the site near Diley Road, I didn't see any other active NV work in the area.
  3. In case you lost track, the color wheels, one for paint, one for light. That way we can all make sense of our colors.
  4. So those sites are LTE 800 and not 1XA? I didn't think they were rolling out any LTE 800 for awhile?
  5. Does anyone live out near West Jeff? The map shows 3G/800 out there, curious if it's functional? Question about Sensorly, does it map Sprint 800 or does anyone know if it will?
  6. Guess there's incentive to change it purple then eh? Come on Sprint. Man that's almost like a game, pacman style. I had nooooo idea that's what caused gray streaks.Seriously. It does sound evil though. It funny though it mapped 3g while the phone was on LTE only.
  7. I'm nowhere near as excited for LTE as I am for 800 or any benefits from upgraded 3G sites. LTE just means data and 90% use of my phone is voice or SMS. If I'm using data I'm on a WAP anyways. I'd love to just receive every phone call that comes into my phone instead of it going to voice mail. It's beyond frustrating to use my phone for business and to apologize to customers and my employer for having Sprint service. Now I know that with the LTE roll-out the other features will come so I'm a little happy. Actually I'm just ecstatic that the one tower in area that has lacked NV construction that looks like is in high gear is near my house. Maybe a payoff of the many frustrating yet calm phone calls that always end with the retention department.
  8. I have one with a cracked screen if you'd like to borrow it. Some of the glass was coming out but it has a screen protector. Drop me a PM if you're interested.
  9. Did a double take this morning drivng past my home cell. Base cabinets got put in yesterday. Nothing up the pole yet and no antennas. I'll post that to the WIP thread when it gets more bling. This is the cell on Diley Road next to Kingys Pizza.
  10. If anyone is looking for a nice way to root/unroot your device, mskip has a very easy to use tool. He has one for several phone models. Start with this thread on XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703488 As for ROM's, I've not really cared for any of the ROM's for GS3. CM has screwy A2DP problems and has for a very long time and battery drain worse than rooted stock, most of the other stuff I've tried just seem like the garbage with a tweak here or there. I was really hoping I could find a digiblur port or one like it. I may give PAC a try. Anyone got any other suggestions for a leaner ROM with geek tweaks?
  11. SID 01017 near 315 & 33 on Souder Ave had fiber installed this week and two AT&T trucks there. Unfortunately LTE does not mean better voice/text service only better data. As for the calls that don't go through, is it because there's no cell signal? I can be sitting next to a cell and someone call me 20 times and it will never ring through. Been that way since January. Those Sprint employees would know what blocks are and when they look at my account, all my phones have very high blocks. Except when roaming or on an Airave. Lets get a cluster of sites with fiber and turn on 800!
  12. Didn't someone get the same thing from another tower off Taylor Rd in Reynoldsburg? Showed up once or twice and went away?
  13. I can get 2.2 mb on the old 3G on any tower. It just depends on how loaded that cell is at the time. One time it will be 2.5 mb, next time .3 mb. Also server load at the other end of the test affects output.
  14. Is there an accessible spreadsheet that shows the active sectors? Wanting to check the one I got at Easton against the Morse road site. I got 388 there. Also 212 for the southwest Jackson Pike sector if it isn't already noted.
  15. Now to get really technical inquisitive!! This is the Jackson Pk tower, north is up. Has anyone seen the orientation of the antennas? Is it like the other cells where there's an antenna on the north face, south east face and south west face? If that is the case, it's impressive at how far reaching that site is even being off axis with the antenna. It looks like being at south High and 270 you're about 50 degrees off axis if that's the case?
  16. Anyone know what the "NextLTEscan timer" parameter does in the ##DATA# screen under BSR Menu>Timer Menu? Mine has a 5 in that field. I'm guessing that's scan for LTE every 5 minutes or every 5 scan intervals? The thing I noticed today was that I was right on top of the Jackson Pike/Stringtown cell before detecting LTE. I would like to detect sooner I also noticed that while sitting at my desk on Goodale Blvd my phone spent a lot of time bouncing around cells and connecting to a couple cells that I would consider completely out of range. One cell was up the hill, two miles away through dense housing and trees. I'm hoping that is caused by more turn-ups coming. Lastly maybe there's a Sprint site person reading this, it would be a benefit in coverage for Grandview to put a cell over at the Grandview Yard Hyatt Place Hotel. I can get you in touch with the property manager. The Butler Ave site is barely above the trees and there have been and will be tall structures built all around there blocking signal to the west.
  17. The first was taken on 270 east of High Street on the south end pretty much east of the Jackson Pike tower. The second was taken at 270/71 Northwest of the Jackson Pike/270 tower. Back to the first, being the serving cell 217, that's also southwest of the Lockbourne Rd tower if its active and north of the Parsons/Rathmell Road tower if that's a Sprint cell. I don't have my handy dandy Sprint tower map. Thoughts? I'm still new to the ENG details decoding.
  18. Where is it safe to post ENG screenshots? I either got the n/w and n/e sectors or two cells. I think two cells. They were offset by 4bdigits.
  19. I was just looking at Sensorly and there's a ton of purple lit up from along the south 70/71 split down 71 to 270 and around to Alum Creek Drive. There's no way that one site is feeding that whole area. Especially the 70/71 split along Livingston Avenue because along that section freeway there's high ground and buildings on either side of the freeway. That's exactly how I go home. I may get overexposed to LTE radiation...
  20. I could map it tomorrow afternoon when I go through on my way home. But I have a feeling that there will be about 30 people all hovering around the area plotting purp and taking baths in LTE radiation beforehand.
  21. On the star wars off topic comment, I read Carrie Fischer, Mark Hammil and Harrison Ford are in the next film. The bold directive in the report was for Mark and Carrie to drop weight. They start filming this year. Sounds like a remake coming! There's your exciting news on S4GRU for Columbus today.
  22. FWIW, I was turning off of 33 onto Souder Ave near the main post office and saw a crew running fiber in the manhole there. It's a few hundred feet from one of the towers I took pictures of. There's a river to cross there but nothing else around so maybe some back-haul is being pulled in? I didn't recognize the contractor as being one of the usual ones from Columbus.
  23. What determines the actual site location like the BSSID on 3G cells?
  24. New to the engineering screen. But comparing the IMSI, which I thought might be unique per phone is different than the other eng screenshots I've seen. Is this a new sight different than the one everyone's been doing tribal dances around?
  25. Could this be caused by a large population of users not being in Pickerington and Canal Winchester because of the downtown festivities? I live behind Meijer and that cell, the one on old Brice north of Winchester Pike, the one at Bowen and Long Road, the one on the water tower near Milnor Road and Center Street, the one on Hamilton Road at Reinbow and the one at South Hamilton at Williams Road have no physical improvements performed to them other than EHRPD. I'm constantly watching them for improvements and see nothing. The only thing I've seen performed on towers in those areas is on towers with AT&T/TMO which have a single antenna panel addition with a single RRU type box; those showed up about the same time TMO turned on LTE, my son has TMO so this is how I know this fact. Unless Sprint is deploying different equipment than they have in other markets with NV rollout? There's a picture someone posted of the site behind Atlas Construction at I270 N at North Hamilton Rd, that's what I've seen go all over southeast Franklin County and someone has pointed out that it's not Sprint. Maybe Thenight84 could confirm this? I'm going to speculate that Sprint had this sudden urge to get Columbus market rigged because again I'm speculating that they've lost a crapload of business customers from this market because of the Motorola/Samsung problem. The 15th largest city in the USA in the 4th round of NV rollouts with a bleeding out customer base since February, two words: damage control. Everybody I talk to is fed up with how bad things have gotten. It's sad when an event like Red White & Boom goes on and you have subscribers with no service. I was miles from downtown and I had the hashed circle most of the night. No cell, no data, worthless. I'll get off my soapbox. Hard to not get ticked off when I pay $220 a month for something that I can't use.
