Inside the fair entrance by the crazy mouse. No LTE yet...!
-
I'm hoping they are working on the towers downtown. Ping this morning by the library was 454 ms and .13 kbs no upload. Fingers crossed!

Excuse my ignorance but what does a guide wire do?just got back from that tower, the guide wires are still there, no panels up top yet. Also stopped by the one off lower beaver by the interstate and there are now guide wires there, someone was there working, looked like they had just got done putting them up.

That's a good test. I was there over the weekend and it is pretty overloaded too. Indoors and outside. Can't wait for this work to be done!!!i will be out in the jordan creek area tonight, will see if i can pick anything up, hopefully i'll be able to drive around to the towers to verify.

Speeds downtown are still poor today. Ping at 450 ms and sometimes can't even ping. Guess last week was a one off for now. We have a lot of people that stream pandora and such downtown at offices here so bandwidth gets eaten up pretty fast. I can tell the tower is over by the school so I'll have to drive by tonight and see if there is anything going on.

Downtown speeds improved in the last couple of speedtests i made just now. Ping was about 100 ms and download speeds about 1 mb. I'm wondering if they are doing some work on the tower which I am assuming is the Falcon Drive tower. I didnt get an LTE signal. Maybe everyone is just gone from downtown today?

Please excuse me but I cant seem to find this OT information:
I want to know the location of the towers in des moines, but I hear mention of being a supporting member and having access to other info. If I can get the location of a tower I can check to see if there are any t1/t3 ckts there and maybe see if they are putting new orders in. Can someone point me to a link about becoming a supporter?

Verizon had LTE first at the fairgrounds last year. I realize that alot of people attend the fair but I'm not sure why that is the rallying point. I would think the tower around the corp store on university would be one of the first to show it off, or maybe jordan creek. Certainly downtown could use LTE relief way before the residential areas. The business people who can't get any data downtown are going to be more likely to switch vs people at home who are most likely using WIFI.

You guys are GREAT! I'm sticking with Sprint and you guys are making the wait for LTE go so much easier.

So does anyone here think that we will just see enhanced 3g speeds or will we actually get LTE or both? Is it possible they will skip us over for LTE like they did with WiMAX?
-
i just did a speedtest @ 4:30. Ping was 120, 1.11 mpbs. Not too bad speeds but that's with the majority of downtown gone home.
-
Which tower was that at?
Sounds exciting.......!!!!
-
Exactly. That's why I'm following this thread so closely. I've been burned before and I need real proof to stay with Sprint past this summer.
-
Anyone have an idea what the closest tower is downtown on Grand/Ingersol? Any permit info for those towers?
-
I just did a speedtest downtown here and the ping is 464ms....LOL. the download is 267kbps and 18 upload.

Let's hope hagerwarror. I'm downtown and I'm ready to jump ship from Sprint. We need LTE here fast. Even EVDO + would be a start. Most times I can't use my phone even outside by the downtown library. Full bars, no data. I think too that the high school downtown slows data down too.
-
Hmm that's interesting. I didnt know that. I work at Centurylink in the MOE group doing fiber to the cell and sprint doesnt have anything going on that way. I'm assuming they are going to feed the LTE via T1/T3s.
-
Let's hope they work on downtown first. The airport needs some Sprint love too. I'm sure the Sprint store on University will get it soon too. And maybe Jordan Creek.
-
So any news? I'm trying out Tmobile prepaid here in Des Moines. I work downtown and Sprint's data is pretty bad. I'd like to see this get fixed in the next 60 days. Sounds like from the thread that it's possible.
