1x800 means enhanced 3G, right?
-
You would also think they would deploy based on amount of users....like getting the work done quicker downtown, by the mall, or near large school/college campuses...but also no.
-
No matter how much I tell Sprint, they claim there are no outages in West Des Moines...but of course they don't LIVE in WDM...Odd how only at Jordan Creek and surrounding I experience HORRIBLE data! I can call and text all I want, but God forbid if they actually update the 3G technology even at the mall...especially with an authorized Sprint retailer in it!
I always wondered about that too! You would think there would be LTE by the official store on University....but no.
-
I think I found them! Not by me but any progress only helps the whole.

Where at???there is a cluster being worked on today! picked up 1x800 from 4 new towers this morning
-
LOL im using a tmo windows phone as a hotspot downtown to at least send texts and basic web surfing.
-
Des Moines metro is so data starved at this point that i would relish having ANY data, 3G or LTE. I really want to see what my iPhone can do in the wild.
-
I think at this point we are waiting on backhaul. Isn't all the equipment out there? The spreadsheet is pretty large in the sponsors section. And also I believe backhaul is coming from Mediacom. I don't think Mediacom is known for speedy delivery.

It's hard to be a Sprint fan in Des Moines.
-
ATT announced LTE in Des Moines today. Hopefully this frees up somebody to get Sprint's LTE a movin. We are the last ones to get LTE in town.
-
Bmoses hit on this, but net/net there is no delay. If it takes (made up numbers to follow) 180 days to install equipment on 70 sites you can reach that goal either by turning sites on individually or turning them on all at once.
Turn them all on individually!

I'm using t-mobile with a hotspot downtown until the LTE turns on for Sprint. Otherwise there just is no data available in the metro.Even when I got my first Evo in June, 2010, I was led to believe we'd see 4G service by the following summer. It is now over two years later than that "following summer," and still no 4G service. It's not even the same 4G service (WiMax vs. LTE). I'm pretty much ignoring any claims or estimates of service at this point, opting instead to be surprised when it does arrive.
They'll probably turn on one tower downtown that will instantly be saturated to the point of uselessness, and let that languish for six months or more.

If they dont hurry up the ground is going to freeze. How will they trench and run backhaul then?
-
Of course Des Moines isn't on the list. And it won't be for quite some time.
Yikes! Quite some time....
That doesn't sound good. Thot we were getting LTE in the summer, then the fair, now looks like next year.

The ping from the tower serving the downtown library is 4823 ms....maybe they are working on the towers downtown!!!!!!
-
Any news? Will they still be working on upgrades during the winter season?
-
I have four solid bars here downtown and I'm up high by several floors. I've noticed that my signal jumps between 3G and 1x at times. Is THAT a sign????
-
I think it was only 2 bars.
-
I had LTE on Fluer going towards grand today for just a brief time then lost it. I was past greys lake so I didn't think it was the south side tower that has LTE. Is this maybe testing going on?
-
Wow. That was useful! Sponsorship is good.

I gotta check out that spreadsheet. I need a checklist!!!check the sponsor shreadsheet, there is a stats tab, about 1/3 of the towers have already been at least 3G accepted, 1/3rd are in progress and have equipment installed, and 1/3 either haven't started or we don't know their state yet. did you see the acceptance reports? 12 towers accepted in central iowa in the past week.

I'm not optimistic but I'm excited.not saying it won't happen in 3 months, but 3 months seems to be the default customer service response for all inquiries related to NV.
and in our case with about 35% of the towers not having had anything installed or accepted yet 3 months would actually be a good guess.

So here is my screenshot from downtown. Does this mean anything significant?
