  1. Same story when the parks are busy in Orlando or when there's a large convention Sent from my Galaxy S3
  2. My last visit was opening day of Star Wars Weekends, so I would imagine that capacity was taxed. The Hyperspace Hoopla will do that! Sent from my Galaxy S3
  3. I am getting a fairly consistent 4g beachside Daytona at my house, but my office is in south Port Orange (along US1) and the data connection is almost non-existent even in 3g. Voice signal is around 1 bar, and often goes to "roaming" outside. Inside the office the phone is a paperweight. I have to recharge 3 times during the day. 3-4 months is a LONG time!! I also frequent the Disney Parks. I consistently find the towers overloaded for data. I have a good signal (varies between 4g and 3g) but the data just doesn't flow. It's a little frustrating, and at times I regret I had to leave Verizon. Then I remember the $100 a month I'm saving and figure I can wait it out. The areas of Disney that do have 4G are much improved, so hopefully when the whole area is blanketed things will be good. Sent from my Galaxy S3
  4. That happened before sensorly started showing LTE blips on the map in my area. Sent from my Evo 4G LTE using Tapatalk 4 beta Fingers crossed! Would be great if the rain would let up and let them get things done :-) Sent from my Galaxy S3
  5. So my eHRPD signal has dropped into the -110 to -115 range and there's a huge 1XRTT dead spot in Ocoee where there used to be ok-ish eHRPD. Hopefully this means actual tower work is being done and isn't some sort of issue.
  6. would this happen to be near the turnpike? I remember sitting out a crash clean, further down around yeehaw junction, at the canoe creek service plaza in January. Picked up 4G on my LG viper for a split sec then back to 3G but it was definitely instant loading of any website I threw at the network. Even before, like September 2012, the area would consistently do 1.7-2.3 down always. That was my first time seeing sprint get anywhere near those speeds. Of course that's the whole 100+ mile section south of Kissimmee to Fort Pierce I'm talking about Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 4 Beta Nearish to there. I'm at the loop now and seeing similar performance. Sent from my Galaxy S3
  7. I'm working in the Hunter's Creek area in Kissimmee and have to say, I'm finding the 3G speeds here to be quite alright. A nice change of pace for sure. Sent from my Galaxy S3
  8. It might also depend on your signal strength, I know when it reads as -115 or less I get no data whatsoever out of LTE (at least with the existing LTE towers in the Orlando market, so YMMV) Instead, I find sometimes that my phone will mysteriously drop LTE and switch back to eHRPD even though I haven't moved and LTE is still available (confirmed by toggling airplane mode).
  9. Great read. I still remember Dish's big plans to revive the failing Blockbuster by...well..."we'll get back to you on that." Needless to say, we see how great things turned out there.
  10. I used to get great WiMAX speeds in the Downtown area back when I had a GS2, so it seems like perhaps they had already made some upgrades to towers there since I often found the data to be usable, even if it wasn't all that impressive.
  11. Orlando definitely has some bad spots, but it's really the touristy, non-LTE areas where the network suffers the most (in general). I used to work behind the Animal Kingdom for years and can tell you that at best 3G was hit and miss and at worst was not bothering, particularly when the parks are busy as they are now. That said, Orlando's biggest issue in my opinion is inconsistency at this point. There are days where I can get almost good speeds on 3G and other days where it seems like every single user is trying to stream all at the same time. I do think things will turn around eventually, but we're still very spotty with our LTE coverage and not too many towers have the new fancy 3G.
  12. What kind of LTE data speeds are you seeing in regular use in Atlanta? Typically 4 to 8Mbps down during the day and as high as 20 down in the later hours. Essentially I can watch netflix anywhere with a strong signal and have it look nice. Sent from my Galaxy S3
  13. I get to excited to have LTE nearly everywhere when I'm on a business trip in ATL that I almost end up finding excuses to use my data to make up for all the avoiding using my data I do here in Orlando.
  14. I'm a letter carrier in Ormond and saw a WesTower truck parked by one of the apartment complexes that had antennas on tophttps://www.dropbox.com/s/md7twb5g7suy0dn/2013-05-30%2013.03.14.jpg Luckily that's where I was going to take my lunch break, so I waited for the workers to pop out of the building; I asked what the hold up is around here and whether or not equip has been installed in port orange. Two of them walked off as fast as possible while one of them stood there like deer in headlights not expecting to be asked such a 'secretive' set of questions. He said that some base cabinets have been installed in port orange but most of the wait are the telcos providing fiber(Gee really?) And that it would be a couple of months before something in port orange lights up with LTE.. Oh f***, an informed S4GRU member! They told us to run from them! :-D Sent from my Galaxy S3
  15. EXACTLY! If I saw consistent speeds daily then I wouldn't be thinking about leaving all the time. It's 32kbps one day, 1.5mbps the next, and 500kbps the next day. It's all over the map. And now with LTE speeds popping in and out. it's on an even wider scale. Every time I'm on my phone outside of a wifi connection I say a little prayer that the data gods are on my side. This also wouldn't be such an issue if we weren't all handing over at least $100 a month to Sprint I got a pretty nifty limited time discount, so unless Dan Hesse says unlimited data is dead and/or says we're never getting LTE, I'm probably going to be a Sprint lifer. Sent from my Galaxy S3
  16. Yeah that really isn't that bad for 3G all things considered. It is definitely usable. Robert from Note 2 using Tapatalk 4 Beta People wouldn't be leaving in droves if that was the speed we got consistently. Sent from my Galaxy S3
  17. The biggest battery drain is usually your signal strength. If you have a poor signal your phone is going to constantly be searching to find a better one. Where I was living I was constantly switching between roaming and 1 bar of Sprint and my phone would lost like 40% battery in an hour or so even if I wasn't really using it. Signal strength as well as overall data speed. Even though 3G technically uses less power than LTE, that only holds true if the 3G speed doesn't end up with ridiculous amounts of radio on time. Sent from my Galaxy S3
  18. There are a thousand potential answers to the question "why does my phone battery drain so fast" and it varies by your usage pattern, screen on time, apps you have, how often you're using your data connection, etc I would start by asking the people in this forum: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/forum/19-appleiphoneios/
  19. I also picked up some LTE starting from West Colonial and Hiawassee until about Raleigh St. Ran a speedtest and it was pretty fast. Here is a link to my speedtest. http://www.speedtest.net/android/468623068.png Good speeds. Here's to hoping that at the start of next year when we're mostly covered we can expect strong coverage and faster speeds. Sent from my Galaxy S3
  20. Thanks as always for your efforts! Off topic: How do you like Tapatalk 4? I kind of love it, personally.
