I hope they don't do that in the Wisconsin market yet.  T-Mobile B71 is maybe on just a few towers in the Milwaukee area, they cannot do B12 due to USCC, and Sprint here is subpar but at least they have B26.  Not looking forward to the merging of two inferior carriers :(

When does TM have to shut down B26?  Or when do they plan to?

Band 25 and 26 were back today for me.  Not sure what the deal was.

Anybody else having odd network things going on?   Might be an indicator your market is undergoing transistion.

Yes, as of today, I can not find any band 25 or band 26 (band 41 shows up when available though).  I am stuck on tmobile or USCC roaming (as needed).

It very well could be something with my aging Essential phone but the timing is suspicious of course.

I am in Maine where we have always sort of been the red headed step child of the sprint network in regards to timely upgrades.

    1) Did this just start with the latest update, 4.58?

    2) If you enable the timestamp display, does it appear to be refreshing even if the data stays the same?

    3) When moving at a decent speed/distance (traveling in a vehicle), does the behavior change at all?

yes, the time does refresh every 3-5 seconds (not sure if that is normal as ive never enabled that before) while it displays the stale 1x and LTE connection data.

    1) as far as i know yes

    2) will try that

    3) i can say most definitely no, when moving in a vehicle SC does not update and exhibits the same behavior.  One day earlier this week I was driving and thought band 26 was somehow extended further because SC was stuck displaying it but come to find out i was actually on USCC band 12.  it will eventually update but it is no where instant like it used to be.

Lots of streamers, camgirls, gamers and news reporter types require a consistent upload to acquire max stats and venmo creds.

I agree consistent upload is important but 40 mbits is not needed to stream.

Everyone has different needs/desires. I prefer lower latency and the highest possible upload speeds.

I understand, that's why I was asking what your NEED was for the consistently high upload.  You must be doing something with 40 mbits upload on a mobile device...certainly you just arent running speed / latency tests all day?

    Download is smoking. Upload Eh.

    I'd rather have 100/50. Or even 50/50.

there have been several pages at this point over you going back and forth over this device due to possible upload speed issues and not being able to hit 30-40+ mbps .  i have to ask...what do you need a consistent 40 mbits of upload on a mobile device for?

can anyone comment on the unlocking of the device?

the face unlock makes me a bit nervous.  With fingerprint, i can quickly unlock it with one hand close to my lap, while driving and not even be looking down at the device.  i have a hard time believing the face unlock stuff can be as quick and easy as a fingerprint...am i wrong?

nobody has any opinions /comments on the face unlock?

Got Android 10 this afternoon. So nice to not have to wait on Sprint for a major update! 😁

Essential phone received the same android update at about the same time yesterday.  Funny enough, there has been a time or two in the last year that essential beat even googles update for the various monthly security updates.

  11. now these are the nexus / pixel prices that i remember and love.  So...how bad do these suck compared to the regular pixel 3?  What did they do to get the price so low?  Seems like the only difference is the processor but will anyone really notice in day to day use?  Right now I have an essential phone.

  12. Within the last week I started getting HD voice, while connected to wifi calling, when a Verizon user calls me.  However if i initiate the call instead HD voice is not there.  What gives?

Also, if i disconnect from wifi and use the cellular network (1x800), no HD voice no matter what.  its been so long so i can not remember but is there no HD voice on 1x?

I don't have any Calling+ branding on this phone, and this just went live today...or within the past few days. Silly question, but which apps do I need to confirm, and do they need root?

this calling behavior went live on the essential phone a few weeks back, there are prior posts about it which sounds like you have found at this point.  However, starting about a week and a half ago, my essential no longer has this available so i am not sure if they disabled it for my area or what.

Interesting. I'm not sure how else to verify what it's using other than with root. It is odd that they're actually disabled there. I wonder if there was just some kind of fluke and it accidentally got toggled, and if it would persist after a reboot.

You didn't do anything special trying to enable it? It just happened out of the blue?

Fwiw, the essential has the volte toggle enabled but i cant remember if it always has.  maybe it always was since it had the ability to roam off wifi calling onto LTE (and back again)?
