  1. It actually pisses me off that 30 days after they release the phone they release this one. I should be able to exchange 1 for 1 if I wanted too, but obviously cant. 6 months later, ok, I get it. But I have had this phone for 23 days, and there is a better version of it already.
  2. The faster 3g speeds come with upgraded backhaul, which means you should just get LTE for the most part. If its very low signal 3g and hence can't get LTE, your speeds probably won't be blazing fast anyway. Sent from my HTC M8
  3. I dont have any issue on attatchment, but happy to hear you found some B26. Where did you find it?
  4. Something else for all those having the issue in sunlight. When you are going to be in the sun, shut off the auto brightness setting. Appears the sensor is out of whack. Shut that off, put brightness as full, and you can easily see the screen in direct sunlight, even with sunglasses on.
  5. So one thing I noticed which is odd, at least to me, when I receive a phone call while on LTE, the phone switches to 800 voice for the phone call. All is well. Call ends, goes back to LTE. If I set the phone to CDMA only, it goes to 1900 for voice, not 800. Standing in the same spot. Found it interesting.
  6. Exchanged my "gold" for a gunmetal one yesterday because I had the LTE SIM error happening a few times per day. This new phone is same hardware version, but works 100 times better. Signal is much better on B25 as well. Still not as good as an S3 side by side, but when its not side by side the S3, the numbers match up. Almost a little odd, its like the S3 steals signal from the M8. Weird. Anyway, I am happy with exchanging it. Worked out for the best.
  7. Working great on my m8. M8. Sent from my 831C using Tapatalk
  8. So I figured out the ear piece audio weirdness. The more I used it, the softer I thought it was, and I was getting pissed I couldnt turn it up. I work at the airport, so my hearing isnt getting any better. Yesterday, while on a phone call, I told my wife to hold on, and airplane was going to taxi by, she naturally says ok, and keeps yammering on. The plane got closer, and the earpiece volume got exponentially louder. I could hear her talking the entire time, while on my S3 I would never of been able to hear anything. So, it appears the ear piece audio scales to surrounding environment. Now, if I could just set the default a little louder, I would be in paradise. If someone wants to try it out too I would appreciate it. Maybe put some loud music on and see if the ear piece volume rises. There was no visual screen indication, just the phone got a ton louder in my ear.
  9. If the nexus is on same sector as S5 but M8 is on another, the comparison is not exactly a 1 to 1. I would like to see side by side, same sector. I got my M8 next to an S5 about 30 minutes ago with a buddy who got it today and it's only 1db different, - 101 vs - 102 In a separate test, he dropped Lte and I maintained it, usable, at - 120 Overall though, my m8 bounces around a lot more, like it's being interfered with, or, has a bug in reporting it's signal numbers. 10. Any chance you can get them side by side farther away? Perhaps that DB change is simply because of the other sector being farther away (god I hope its farther, and not the closer one). I dont think I can bring myself to return it over 5db of service with B26 and B41 coming anyway. Everywhere I go I typically have good B25 service, except where LTE isnt lit up yet. I am really falling in love with the M8.
  11. Why are the GCI different? Could that be the reason 2 phones have one reading and 2 phones another? DB like that you must be sitting on a cell tower. I want to see real world side by side before I bring my M8 back. Then again, the more I use my m8 the less I want to go back to Samsung. Sent from my 831C using Tapatalk
  12. There are actually pertty serious medical issues that can occur from hanging there like that. The CFD clearly did a great job, and it was a great outcome. Kudos to them, and happy to hear it was a good outcome for the patient too.
  13. Consider filing a better business bureau complaint against the store. See how fast they change that tune. Thats blackmail, not sales.
  14. Me too, and I somewhat agree....it is softer yes, but the clarity is just so damn good I dont need it as loud as I needed other phones.
  15. Grabbed a video of this from my S3. Check out the signal changes based on how I hold it. side note, when going CDMA only mode, the RF is better than my S3, and doesnt bounce around at all. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/56313260/2014-04-09%2015.06.18.mp4
  16. Things are actually going pretty well service wise. The only thing driving me nuts is that Sprint hasnt completed work at Bradley. Hell, I dont think its even been started. There appears to be an ecsfb issue up there, because I had to put my M8 into CDMA only mode yesterday to get phone calls to work. If I was on LTE from a tower in one of the surrounding towns, my calls would just drop. Rather annoying. Going to CDMA only fixed it, and since LTE doesnt work in any of the buildings, it wasnt a big deal. I have no real issues with Sprint except that this one tower at the airport wasnt done sooner/first. It should of been a priority for them, because during the day, its useless for calls and data. Once they get the Bradley tower done and live with LTE, Sprint will easily have the best network in Northern CT for reliability. Everywhere else I go its just downright nasty how good its working. Thats without B26 and B41 (at least I havent found either yet)
  17. Best fitting defender case I have ever had. Keeps the phone looking slick. Sent from my 831C using Tapatalk
  18. Yes, if I hold it in my left hand, like when I browse this forum with one hand, I loose several dB of signal strength. I found it odd too. If I put the phone on the table, straight up, 1 finger holding it at top, I get dB readings that are solid and identical to an s3 next to it in same position. I also notice, when I take phone out of my clip and turn screen on, I gain 5 to 8 dB. For instance, I expect - 95 outside at work (based on s3). I take it off my clip and look, I see - 103. Now, if I hold it in will go to - 98 or 97, but hold it straight up with one finger I can get - 93 and even 90. It's perplexing. I think it's rf is good, as long as I don't hold it on the bottom, like I am typing or one hand browsing. Sent from my 831C using Tapatalk
  19. It vibrates good. Real good. It's got a good vibrator. Heh heh heh. No seriously, strong vibration. Sent from my 831C using Tapatalk
  20. Nor on mine. Looks like someone had that box open before you. Sent from my 831C using Tapatalk
  21. I have a Otterbox Defender on this puppy Sent from my 831C using Tapatalk
  22. I got the update installed. Wifi is definitely better. LTE appears worse. I now am idling a full 10db worse on the m8 than my wife's s3. The LTE connection is not jumpy now, it's just worse. Will see what tomorrow brings, but I might be looking at an s5 on Friday at this rate. :-( Edit. OK I am sort of an idiot. Holding the m8 in portrait is a signal killer (if you hold it in left hand) when I stopped doing that, I gained 11db and am solidly better then the s3. So update does seem to help, but holding phone for normal use degrades signal fast. Sent from my 831C using Tapatalk
  23. Sorry, I should of been more specific, its the gun metal gray. They didnt seem too much different when looking at the silver on VZW. One of the reps had a S5 from the launch dinner last night. It literally made me feel like I was using my S3, except it was a lot faster. The S5 really let me down in my 10 minutes of playing with it. That being said, if it turns out to be a RF beast later this week, I might switch to it. Have 14 days to decide if I return the M8 or not. I love it, but if its RF sucks, Im not interested.
  24. I got my M8 today, anyone able to point me in the direction of some band 41 yet???
  25. Got my M8 a few hours ago at best buy. Ended up with the gold, they were out of silver, but I got over it. Initial reactions are mixed. Phone is fast, love the feel, UI, screen, etc. I feel like I am back on my old EVO 4G, just on super steroids (I loved that phone). Now, I sit it next to my wifes S3, and notice the signal is anywhere from 1-7 db worse. The signal is very bouncy on the M8, but the S3 is staying steady. Both arent moving, sitting on my desk, staring at them. Could this just be a result of polling time being faster on the M8? Other thing I notice is that outside I am getting anywhere from +3 to -5 db, rapidly changing, on LTE. I guess I have to give it a few days to decide if its good or not. Side note, phone calls and data do work fine, none of the other issues people mentioned so far.
