  1. Yes, the incumbent telcos & cable cos can do nothing to stop us now  ^_^

Yes, when consumer demand is strong the cable companies will begin sluggishly switching over to FTTH connections to the masses. Yes, there are cities with many cable companies and Fiber companies such as NYC you have mentioned.

For cites like mine, residents have Cox cable or Windstream to chose from.

Most of the country, as in most have the land coverage have 1 or zero options for high speed internet. You are very lucky.

This is because of zero competition in most areas.

  2. Only on the new plans, and only if the network determines it is necissary.

Is this the same way that Sprint currently re-compresses images on web pages?

They will re-compress the streaming video and limit it to 1 Mbps?

I have seen them compress streaming video already, when connected to an LTE enabled tower.

I'm not sure what rate they re-compressed it to.

  3. I've only seen increases on 4G towers.  I think the main reason is most locations don't have fiber yet.

For the areas outside of the cities they depend a lot on CenturyLink.

The landscape and trees means microwave can't be used in a lot of areas.

CenturyLink is expanding fibre to the outer laying areas, but they keep putting their target dates behind month after month.

My area is already 6 months behind schedule. They are adding DSLAMs that replace the old terminals, the fibre hasn't been run yet. CL told me they are running fibre quite a few miles.

Sprint just turned on a tower in Maple Valley and Black Diamond a while ago.

VZW is also starting to enable LTE in the same areas, I don't know which frequencies they are using.

  4. Those stores are not EPRP, they are private stores for company employees. Also The Microsoft store and Boeing phone some prices are higher than retail. But I don't work for either so doesn't matter.

OhioCalling is correct on the EPRP store

    What does EPRP mean?

I listed those two employee links as examples, many others exist for other companies.

  5. :td: Sprint just lost 5 port in phones from AT&T.  I was recommending my sister-in-law and her family switch to Sprint from AT&T for better pricing and service.  They agreed and just waiting for them to be out of contract this month.  I was planning on using the EPRP that is the same My Family is on.

    Still available.

For example goto http://sprint.com/microsoft or http://sprint.com/boeing

    Still listed and active.

  6. T-Mobile is moving quickly because they are bolting on new panels and equipment to existing sites with existing fiber/ethernet backhaul.

Sprint is tearing down the site completely and rebuilding it.

    Compare Apples to Apples please.

What do you mean? He is saying that T-Mobile planned for expansion of increased data usage. Sprint didn't do this.

I have connected on T-Mobile sites with HSPA+ but still max out at 1Mbps, as the site is fed with T1s also.

  7. Yeah, roaming is reduced...but post-NV, won't there be less roaming needed, anyway?

They have recently removed native areas in Western states. So it looks like the coverage area is shrinking, at least in WA.

They should have waited until they almost completed NV before trying to raise prices on people who have put up with poor network performance for years. They are trying to count their chickens before they hatch.

  8. I do find this thread and story amusing, but.... it is no different from other peoples opinions or religions, people preach their view and expect people to believe it because they told them so, because of some funny reason that some guy once said on the way home walking his dog.

Lots of money to be made there.

  9. AIO wireless is interesting, and their pricing looks like it's targeting T-Mobile specifically. (Especially the 7GB LTE for $70 plan, which seems like a clear shot at T-Mobile's "Unlimited LTE" plan).

Any idea if the AIO wireless plans allow for conditional call forwarding to allow the integration of Google Voice?

The T-Mobile pre-paid plans not allow for the Google voice integration.

  10. It's not limited to 1X, that's only on residential accounts/PRLs.

I did ask Sensorly the same thing and they stated it was to show people where their phone would work.  I think it inflates the actual true network coverage which really distracts from the purpose of Sensorly.  People today are still freaked out about seeing roaming on their phone.  One of my lines asked me this when we were in the city roaming on VZW, I told her to eat it up, they should have signal here.

I asked them this two about a year ago, they told me that it doesn't report when roaming, I know this is incorrect though.

I think its very wrong of them to do this.

It its roaming, they should have a different colour to indicate so. I don't mean a slightly/almost the same shade of green like Sprint does on their site, which is almost as deceiving.

It should be something Green = Sprint coverage, Orange = Roaming coverage.

  11. I do wonder, in the data used, especially when roaming, which image size goes towards the count, the pre or the post compressed image? That would be interesting if it was the pre but gave you the post. I really don't like this altering the data downloaded, what if I was wanting the real image, how can they choose it for me? So wrong.

I have heard of the mifi devices having tethered devices having their images altered before.
