  1. I think we have huge expectations from year to year. The note 2 was a huge jump from the one but to expect huge jumps in change and performance year in and year out is a bit unrealistic. ...I mean look at the iPhone

  2. It won't support carrier aggregation on Band 41. Doesn't support it period. Those speeds would go above that, anyway.

with cat 6 CA on band 41 speed is 300 according to what is being advertised I believe

  3. Wow, that's awesome. I was going to hang on to my S2 / 4g Touch, but if I can really get Samsung to give me $200, I'll take it. Reading it, it looks like a loophole might be if Best Buy won't accept my phone at all as a trade in.

as long as they give you $10 you will get a check for the difference is the way I understand it?

  4. Gotta love Samsung. Even on the Sprint version, it only lists GSM/HSPA/LTE capability. No reference to CDMA at all.

It even shows LTE as Cat 4 or 6. Not one or the other. It's so generic and not network specific. Bums.

Yeah I just read that, why even bother labeling it the Sprint version if your not going to give specific details pertaining to that model errr!

  5. The problem is it requires showing what isn't there, which is a lot harder than showing when something is there.

If you take a look through the list of LTE bandwidth tests for different MHZ (LTE Test report, page 34), you'll see the channel bandwidths. None of them is above 20mhz. Sprint's Band 41 is all in 20mhz chunks, so using two carriers would require 40mhz. I believe that is one of the signs that there is no carrier aggregation, but someone more knowledgeable can chime in over me.

makes sense and thank you I guess I was curious if they have to test/approve CA if it's technically two 20mhz chunks. Not to mention most of what AJ and others say is way above my knowledge level so I need the tech for dummies version.

  6. The docs were posted back in post # 118.

As for that date, I doubt it. I don't recall Sprint ever releasing a device on Saturday. If anything the day before on Friday the 10th. That is the day that SamMobile predicted but I feel it may be sooner than that. see post.

We'll find out soon enough though. At least for the Note 4. The Note Edge would probably be much later.

can someone be more specific to what document shows this info. Not trying to be difficult just trying to learn as these documents are very complex with a lot of info to decipher. Also it would help to see a comparison to a device that is CA approved to help see the difference. I understand it's a lot to ask so if no one is interested in providing no worries.

  7. This sounds like a heck of a lot of fun. All the way around! But, regarding the phone, I'd just leave it at home or in the car in that case. Too much risk vs very little benefit. Sometimes it's not only good - but mentally refreshing - to entirely cut yourself off!

if you really need it with you I'd use one of those dry bags that are made for those situations as I believe they float as well. If it falls in the river with out that chances are slim of finding, especially with moving water.

  8. I see alot of posts throughout forums (besides this one) that state they wish the Note 4 was water resistant as well as for too much plastic. Do people actually take out their phone in the rain or at a pool that much? As for the plastic that Samsung is known for, doesn't a metal phone get dented if dropped (besides the glass breaking) as oppose to a plastic covered device?

Maybe i haven't researched this fully or am missing something so can someone try to convince me why it is so important for a phone to be

    1-water resistance and

    2-have a metal body.

    TS

water resistant would be nice but I've been fine without it. Waterproof definitely not needed. Metal body? As someone said earlier my gN2 fake metal band is scraping off, but as you said would a real metal one dent? And no I won't put a case on it not even a screen protector. I guess I live dangerously lol. I just want it to perform and to do that it's got to have horsepower.

  9. RF performance is the most important aspect of a phone.

I agree but to manufacturers I'd say marketability is, and I'd quest most consumers don't know what rf is. So it's a fine balance of performance and appearance for high end devices. I just hope the gn4 leans towards performance.

  10. At this time you better wait for 805s and two carrier aggregation devices. Gn4 is most likely one of the first devices.

Gotcha thanks! Kinda what I was thinking was gn4 then the g4 when that comes out next spring. Good info as always lilotimz!

  11. Have two upgrades in September thinking about gn4 and G3?? Not sure if I want to use both or hold on to one for something next year or not? Have to wait until official specs and such are out to decide I guess.

  12. Possibly. Is it the Sprint release or general Note 2?

it's the Sprint OTA one. It downloaded but obviously wouldn't install as I'm rooted.
