  1. I can't speak for everyone, but all of my Sprint issues have been fixed with the iPhone 6s: hanging onto LTE, switching bands properly, adding carrier aggregation, and quickly re-obtaining LTE on those rare instances when I drop to 3G. That's why I'm quiet.

Yep. My wife is the same way. No complaints about Sprint whatsoever since she got her new phone. The 6s definitely seems to get off 3g faster than her 6.

  2. no full speed according to marcelo

also something for existing customers?? they could just ditch all the current plans and pricing, roll out all new super simple plans and pricing, sprint has gotten complicated lately.... then again lots of "Half" hints so who knows, maybe match t mobiles new plans with no video throttle at half the price?? i guess we will find out tomorrow hope its not just hype over nothing.  or follow karma go and offer unlimited hot spot with capped data speeds...

I totally agree regarding the current plans. I'd prefer simple plans and despite all the grumbling about T-Mobile here, I think they present new plans to potential and current customers very well (with the exception of the like.. 3 different JUMP plans they have people on...).

I am also quite keen on the potential to eliminate overages. I am on a 20 GB (24 with that 2GB per line extra promo) and tbh I maybe use half that but I overbought to insulate myself against months where we might be on vacation or I might be gone for work and don't have/dont want to/am not allowed to use WiFi services even with VPN. Without overages I might consider a plan with less data. However, my current 20GB plan is the same base cost ($100) as the 10GB that Sprint offers right now so that isn't really an option.. for now..

  3. Holy moly!  It was an act of congress, but MasterCard finally approved my claim!

They initially insisted that I get it repaired and get a repair estimate.  I explained several times and ways that there was no way to repair it, as repair parts were not available on the market.  And didn't know if parts would ever be available commercially.  I ended up having to get a letter from a local repair store and then get a letter from Huawei.  I uploaded the last one this morning and final approval in four hours.

I don't know how long it will take to get my check, but glad to have that behind me.  It is still pretty amazing to me that my MasterCard Debit card ended up having this protection.  Thanks to runagun for suggesting I check.  I probably wouldn't have without the suggestion.  I didn't think debit cards came with protections.

Now I don't even know if I want a Nexus 6P to replace it.  I may get something else.

That is awesome! I love my credit card protection from Wells Fargo and my buyer protection from my Mastercard. Combining the two has worked out really great for me.

Win for S.  Tie with Magenta but also a win in data.

    Sprint went from 3.3 > 22Mbps!

I was down there about a month and a half ago and Sprint has definitely improved there. Last year I had frequent drops to 3g, slow LTE. I didn't think to speedtest there but I did notice that I never saw 3g while in town. I just attributed it partially to the much better LTE scan times on my Nexus 6P compared to my Nexus 5.

  5. TBH the only thing that sets T-Mobile apart from other carriers is that it seems fairly straightforward to just change plans or click "add" for the new uncarrier things. I hope Sprint realizes that all the plan changes have resulted in a myriad of different plans with customers who all want to know if they can get on the new plans/why they can't. I hope they at least try to streamline the process.

  6. I've been saying for YEARS that the Austin airport has the worst Sprint performance I have ever seen. Yet I am within 5 minutes of the airport with 30/10 speeds. Sprint inside the airport even on the top story goes to 3g and is totally inexcusable. I sincerely hope someone at Sprint gets reamed out by Marcelo personally for the sad state they have let the airport remain for SO LONG.

  7. I started getting the first batch of cables, and I need to rethink my strategy of getting fastest USB 3.0 -C cables.  The cables are "hella" big: both the plugs are twice as long and cable is 2-3x as thick as my older MicroUSB cables.  The first cable won't allow to close the center console in my car and won't fit through the cable slots towards the cup holder - where the phone barely fits anyway.  Take a look of what I mean:

Also, the 3A capability and special resistors are really needed for running 3A at 20V to charge a MacBook or ChromeBook.  Google wants to highlight the capabilities of USB-C, so we get a one size fits all cable.

I'll try to order some USB-A / USB-C  2.0 cables and will report back.  Also, if anyone has ordered cables from Amazon that are substantially thinner than what ships with the phone and are of USB-A / USB-C type, please post a few links.

The monoprice ones here: http://www.monoprice.com/product?c_id=103&cp_id=10303&cs_id=1030319&p_id=13009&seq=1&format=2 are currently out of stock but the connectors are slimmer and not as long as the one in your picture. By thinner if you mean the cable thickness itself the Monoprice seems to be slightly thinner. My car console closes with it but barely latches/doesn't quite latch with the Google one.

But if thin is what you are looking for and you aren't trying to charge more than 2.4A, go for the OnePlus. You can't beat the thin-ness of a flat cable. https://oneplus.net/type-c-cable Order processing took 3 days and shipping took 2 from California to Texas.

  8. Well, it concerns me a bit because on his Amazon reviews of other bad cables and adapters, he explains that the bad cables could damage the phone or charger. He hasn't clarified yet if the One+ cable will do that.

So I read up on your link and think I understand the issue. The USB C side allows 3A per the resistor they put in it but the normal USB side can only supply 2.4A (I believe) per the specifications for that connector. So the possibility exists that someone could find an out of spec 3A capable charger with a normal USB connection that provides over 2.4A and thus could potentially damage the cable.

  9. I am not at all worried about getting 3A charge or anything out of this cable. I use it at work as a connection to my PC and even Oneplus says it is rated for 2A. I only use the Google USB C to USB C cable with the charger anyways and this cable is compliant with what the other charger I could use it with has for a rating. Mostly it is a nice compact design with 2 reversible ends that has a tiewrap so I can have better cable organization. Plus, it looks cool.

Honestly though I never find myself charging at work like I did my Nexus 5 and according to Ampere the most I am pulling via USB hub or front panel USB is less than 1amp. The Monoprice cables I have are quite beefy but still not nearly as robust feeling as the Google provided USB C to USB C cable.
