  1. Now that I'm on a Framily plan with unlimited calling I'm thinking about dropping our home phone. Does anyone have experience with MagicJack service? I will still need a line to use for work purposes but was looking into lower cost Voip. Mostly interested to know: Do they terminate calls that are "too long"? Is it reliable, or were there many outages? --- As for the Framily, I'm also pretty interested to know if the separate billing will work if others change their address to match the account holders, and then if it will be possible to change it back (maybe after waiting a few months first). Seems like a decent way to get true friends and family on the same plan and for me would be preferable over joining with 8 strangers. I know it has been mentioned here that the address can not be changed back later, but that seems like something Sprint would not be able to dictate...legally speaking.
  2. I was wondering about that as well. I assume the forms just haven't been updated yet, and realistically probably won't be updated until the subsidized plans are dropped. In the mean time I'd like to know for sure if corp discounts are applicable to the Framily plans without a contract lock in.
  3. Oh my bad. Good luck with your recruiting! Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
  4. DaQue, this is really not the best place to look because I'm betting 99% of the members here already have Sprint plans, and as we have learned existing Sprint subscribers cannot join with other existing Sprint subscribers. You would have better luck hitting up social networks or non Sprint specific user forums. Should S4GRU decide to create a Join a Framily forum, then that would be another option but that has not been decided yet (afaik).
  5. I ask because $25 per month is so damn cheap I feel like it must be unethical somehow! Rather than stand at the Sprint store, there are already online forums to list framily codes which I used to go from 3 lines up to 10 in a short matter of time. Barring that I could have likely gained at least a few other members by posting on my FB and G+ pages. Would I rather have all friends and family? Yes. Would I rather have S4GRU members? Definitely. But as a father of two and the only source of income to my house, I needed to jump on this right away.
  6. I'm interested to hear the thoughts of the members of this forum on the following question: Is it "abuse" to band complete strangers into a framily plan? I've had no problem recruiting some stranges + some family into my Framily plan which has more than halved my wireless bill with the following changes: Changed from unlimited data to 1GB data Changed from 750 minutes of talk to unlimited talk No device subsidy (keeping existing handsets for a while, probably buying Nexus or Lennovorola phones going forward) And even if you don't want to post your Framily ID on the various Forums to increase your Framily, don't you have access to Facebook, Twitter, G+, etc? With very minimal effort, I have a 10 line framily and I suspect it will not be that hard for others either. I also setup our phones to warn at 800MB and block data at 950MB which is very easy to do in Android.
  7. I updated my post because I don't want to confuse other people. Thanks for clarifying this makes perfect sense to me.
  8. I wonder if anyone here who works for Sprint could shed some light on the following confersation I had with a CS rep: Basically, if an account undergoes a change of ownership, does that "unlock" it to be able to join any other existing Framily plans? I'm afraid I might have confused the rep with my question and I really don't want to put my sister through the trouble of changing ownership on her account just to find out she still can't join my Framily. Edit - it appears this will only work to change ownership to the person who owns the Framily account as stated elsewhere. I will suggest my sister start her own Framily. Thanks for responses!
  9. I did too but this is against the terms of the plan. The problem was with poor communication or training of the customer service department which is very unfortunate because it now presents a double standard. A well trained staff + all the new LTE being turned on could lead to a perfect environment to increase subs. I hope things are more smooth from here on out. As a side note, I have already recruited 2 non-sprint subs to join my Framily (yay) and everyone I tell gets very excited at the idea of $25 Sprint service (even after I explain taxes, fees, data and phone financing)
  10. Its a pretty smart tactic. In return for recruiting for them, existing customers get lower rates. I'm expecting to see quite a few "join my framily" posts on FB, twitter, G+ etc. in the near term. I actually know two people who might want to join that I'll be doing a little bit of recruiting on
  11. I was able to. Although I've ended up with a framily of 7 rather than ten because the last few have tried with several reps and keep getting denied. Seems to me that the CS reps are now all on the same page with this policy. I still hope they open it up to more friendly policy towards existing customers. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
  12. I had two everything data 450 plans and a 27% corp discount. Total was around $136 per month. I'm figuring on the framily play I joined today with 10 members my bill will drop to around $64 per month. I lose unlimited data but typically have been under 500mb per line per month anyway (most usage is on wifi). Pros: Half the cost Unlimited voice minutes (makes dropping our home phone a new option to save even more) Cons: Limited data of 1GB As an aside, I had zero problems joining a framily with my two lines on old plans. Used Sprint Chat to do it and only took a few minutes.
  13. Checking the sponsor thread every morning to see the new acceptance report is one of my favorite parts of the day. Skipping a couple of trips to Starbucks and donating to this site instead is a heck of a good deal. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
  14. Right now I would love to jump in and could easily find 6 other people/lines to go with me: 1 would be switching to Sprint from a mvno, the other 5 are already on their own Sprint contracts. If I understand properly, those 5 who already use Sprint are not eligible to join my Framily. I hope Sprint opens up a way for existing customers to merge with others, as that is the only way I can see getting onto this. I'm not too interested in porting my # out and then back in as a new customer, that is a lot of trouble and there are a lot of people not savoy enough to do it.
  15. Yes I did the week of Christmas, I believe there are now 7 active LTE towers in Des Moines and one is just reaching over to Fleur. The sponsor thread can help you see which tower it is. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
  16. I just got back from Chandler AZ, and I can see merit to both options. On the one hand it was awesome to have LTE live at my hotel and in some popular areas of town, on the other hand it was just that much more noticible when I was on 3g just how slow it is.
  17. Correct, nearly all existing phones are in this boat. They will get voice & SMS service on 1x800 or 1x1900 as available and LTE on 1900 only. New phones it will be important to look for phones which support all 3 of the future Sprint LTE bands 1900, 800, 2500. I believe currently the LG G2 supports all three and the iPhone 5s supports two of the three.
  18. Yes and no, I'm not in a non-evdo location very often, but I thought the 1x800 speeds might be of interest to this thread. With that said, I do see LTE 800 as a game changer for sprint to really win back a lot of folks. My next phone will be tri-band no doubt.
  19. Speed test done connected to 1x800 (this is not 3g/4g of course, so shouldn't expect much) This was at -92 rssi, in a location where I used to always be roaming - now stay on Sprint. Love all this progress, can't wait for LTE to light up on more towers.
  20. 1x800 just started showing up in Indianola. Signal in my house is usually 1-2 bars, now have one short of full bars, wow.
  21. The other question is will it be possible to buy an un-subsidized phone on your own (e.g. Nexus 5) and end up with a cheaper service (ala the recently announced "One Up" program).
  22. I drove around quite a bit running sensory. Hwy5,235,University and Merle hay mall areas. No 4g connections unfortunately. I'm happy to see someone connected in West Des Moines, so the next time I'm at work over there I will have to do some checking!
  23. FYI - AT&T has announced LTE will come to Des Moines by end of 2013.
  24. Nice, I checked for 1x800 and LTE on a few west Des moines locations but nothing yet. I didn't realize I grabbed the wrong ID from the 1x800 tower south of town so if I go that way again I will grab it. Since its right on i35 south of des moines I assume it's the tower you identified a couple pages back.
  25. I just connected to the same 1x800 signal ID 22439 while in Beavington, IA.
