  2. All three areas listed in that Press Release are also covered by Sprint LTE. It makes me wonder if this is because Sprint is going to open up its network to nTelos customers soon and not that nTelos is turning on their own LTE network in these areas. Just thinking out loud. But it's hard to think it is just coincidence. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  3. Maybe Shentel has not added a second Band 25 LTE carrier in the Harrisburg area? Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  4. It sure is easy on the Nexus 5. Go to Settings > Mobile Networks > Preferred Network Type. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
  5. And yet I used LTE 1900 at 10 miles last weekend in Minnesota. Maybe each sector is configured different? Naw, that can't be it. I'm sure it's because Sprint LTE sucks. Yeah, that's it. It's not like AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon customers have ever experienced Band 4 sites that only broadcast a few blocks. Oh, wait! They freakin' do!!! Like every damn day. Could it be the fragile nature of LTE signals, especially on high frequencies? Naw. Only Sprint is limited by physics. Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

  12. I'm always amazed how little tower crews know about networks and bands, etc. If you think about it, most tower crews didn't work in the business prior to the LTE boom and they have been given very specific training in what they do. Everything beyond this very narrow trianing, they pretty much have as much understanding as the average citizen. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro

  16. The Irish Pub there isn't half bad. I ate there last year. My kids ran up and down there and goofed off around the fountains. And Sprint EVDO stunk out loud. What a difference a year makes. I'm at a concert myself right now as well. Have fun! Robert via Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  17. I really would hate to see this discussion devolve into politics. Robert
  18. It's possible. However, note that Signal Check Pro will only tell you which 1x provider you are connected to. It doesn't ever tell you which EVDO provider you're connected to. We will need to see the EVDO channel assignment for definitive proof. But it will be great for many Sprint/Verizon customers in the area if Commnet is now providing EVDO. Thanks for the heads up. Robert
  19. The site in Dixon/Rinconada along NM 68 has Verizon service on it. I always roamed on Verizon 3G EVDO when I drove by it. Commnet used to have only 1x on that site. If they have 3G EVDO there now, then that's new. I'm not even sure they have the spectrum to do that. It's possible you were connected to Commnet 1x and Verizon EVDO. The next time that happens, please send me a screen shot of your EVDO Engineering screen showing the channel number. We will be able to figure out for sure. Thanks! Rober
  20. Well, we also know that B26 does more than just in building coverage. It also extends coverage and helps fill in coverage holes. And many may take exception to B25 being referred to as 'broad market coverage.' Don't read too much into those band descriptions. If you look at all the rural sites where B41 8T8R has been deployed and documented around S4GRU, and put that into context, you'll see he isn't talking about it will be exclusive only in dense urban markets. He is saying that is the main focus of the spectrum. Urban capacity. But Sprint wants that performance to as many customers as possible. Robert
  21. The exact details are not known. However, some believe that a few of the new flagship devices may be upgradeable to VoLTE with a software update. Since we don't know which models if any will be able to do that, I would count on needing to upgrade your device to use Sprint's VoLTE when it goes live in the future. Robert

  23. Although there is nothing really new in this piece from John Saw, I did think it was a good write up. It's nice to see Sprint focusing a little better on its network upgrade message and getting the word out. http://newsroom.sprint.com/blogs/sprint-perspectives/optimizing-americas-newest-network.htm Robert
  24. *rolls eyes* But thank you for your updated report. And renewing your Sponsorship! Robert
