Need Help Identifying This Site

There are a few towers by my house I'm trying to identify. The tower on the right I've found info indicating that it was once owned by Nextel then sold off.

What I'm wondering is are those Nextel panels on the lower portion? and even more curiously can anyone give me any clue as to what those panels up at the top may be for? CDMA, GSM, a particular carrier etc? Some time ago I found some kind of evidence that lead back to Denali Spectrum aka Leap/Cricket, but now I can't find that info anymore and I'm wondering If that could be in fact whose panels those are.

Thanks

Where are those towers located?

They are located about a half mile from my house.

Here's a link to there location on google maps:

I used AntennaSearch, and there were 3 registered sites that is near that location. One of the sites belongs to Crown Castle, another site belongs to Global Tower Partners (Assignor Nextel), and the other site belongs to United States Cellular Corporation.

Right. I'm pretty certain the one owned by Crown Castle is a Verizon site. It's not pictured in the photo's I posted. The US Cellular tower is actually the one on the left in my photo above. And the GTP tower is the one that I didn't know for sure what exactly it was and who all it had on it. I thought Nextel only used the longer panels? Not sure what's on the top and what that's for.

Maybe you should check out AntennaSearch yourself. It has a lot of helpful information about tower ownership.

That's how I figured most of it out. But Antenna Search only takes me so far, and pretty much dead ends most of the time since the towers aren't owned by the carriers and/or don't say who's co-located on them. Without the NV maps on here finding Sprint sites would be like pulling teeth too.

Process of elimination doesn't work too well even after identifying a carrier or two. Several I have looked at I can't figure out a carrier as we don't have that many carriers in my area as panel racks I count. I guess at times ATT or Verizon is using two racks.

I wish that map showing the Nextel sites to be shut down was still around. It took awhile to recall, but I'm now pretty sure that they had this site marked to be shut down. I bet this site has been shut off already! I'm familiar with the bottom rack of panels as being Nextel panels but not the top. You say that you see the top panels often on Nextel sites. I wonder what the two different racks/panels for Nextel would have been for if that's really the case.

I do remember that tower being there as a little kid (late 90s early 2000s) Don't recall it having the bottom rack back then. and the tower to the left wasn't there til 2004 I think, same for the other mystery tower that I didn't mention that is close to these two as well. These 3 towers are also close by to the town water tower that has the Sprint site colocated on it that I have a photo of floating around somewhere.

    • Was in Red Hook again and I swear there are more Link5G sites as there are Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T small cells combined in the entire neighborhood. It seemed like every other street I turned down had one installed. Hopefully carriers will start hopping on them soon. Seems like a lot of effort to go through for no one to use them.  — — — — — T-Mobile converted the Sprint site on top of NYU Langone Brooklyn in Sunset Park. I first mapped one sector of it back in November 2023 but I thought it was a small cell so I never pinned it but I ran into another sector today which caught me off guard. I'm unable to find a permit for the conversion so it's definitely a surprise. There's another T-Mobile site 1 block away that T-Mobile initially installed back in 2019 so I'm kinda surprised they're keeping both considering the Sprint conversion is on a much taller building and could potentially provide much better coverage to the entire area.  — — — — — The old permit expired for this site without any work being done but a new permit was just approved a few days ago for a T-Mobile site at this address. Description mentions 3 antennas with 2 RRUs per sector. My guess is they're doing something similar to what they did at 360 Furman St in Brooklyn where they broadcast Band 2/66 and n25/41 from one antenna. It's a bit of a downgrade considering the site it's replacing was a full build with Ericsson 6449s.
    • Still not seeing any ULS postings for pending T-Mobile UScellular merger in Dane county Wisconsin.
    • Came across another Crown Castle Solutions multi-tenant oDAS node in Brooklyn. Located at 40.7002286, -73.9612666. Nothing on T-Mobile or AT&T so I'm assuming these are all Verizon nodes that Crown Castle is anticipating another carrier will hop on down the line.
