RFP for fiber backhaul?

Recommended Posts

I have not seen one peep since Light Reading wrote two articles about it just before the October 7th Conference. I think Sprint wasn't wanting that info out there. They probably reined in the source on that issue and now all is mum again.

I would like some details!!! :ninja:

I would really love any details on exactly how Sprint ties together their network and how imporant sprint's own backhaul is to the process.

Robert mentioned that centurylink is rolling out an OC48 to chicago and placing DS3 fiber cables to each tower. Is that even enough capacity?

I would think that they would just run the fiber to 1gigabit ethernet? Are any wireless carriers putting 10 gigabit ethernet to towers?

Good questions. I don't know at this point. But I ever get an exclusive interview with a Sprint network VP, I will be sure to ask. But hopefully I will find out more details in the interim. :fingers:
