  1. My wife's 5c seems to connect to LTE at the same times and places as my GS3, and gets virtually identical speed tests. If I remember correctly, the GS4 has only slightly better LTE performance than the GS3, so your results are somewhat puzzling.

The iPhone 5S/C connect to LTE a whole lot better than the 5. My whole family has Sprint. My cousins have the 5C & I find that before my phone even starts the process of connecting to LTE they would already have it.

  2. As I have observed, with a faster more reliable connection data usage goes up. Since Tulsa got LTE for most of the area, I've seen each of my family members data use roughly triple. My brother now uses around 9 gigs a month where he used to use 2-3. My dad's usage has skyrocketed from 300mb or less to 4-5 gigs (probably because he now trusts that streaming will work).

    My point exactly.

  3. Where I used to live had FiOS available but I used cable but when I was moving I realized that FiOS is scarce in Brooklyn.

Another benefit of being in cable is that citywide WiFi.

That was the only Plus of Time Warner. When I had TW, I had a deactivated iPhone 4 on AT&T (Billing Issues, Their Prices Are Ridiculous) so I used to love being able to use my phone outside.

  4. I currently have the 101/35 tier. Right now I get 55/35 because my router prevents me from getting faster speeds on the downlad. I honestly need the speed for the amount of devices I have con acted to my internet in my home. That includes a new Smart TV starting today, an Xbox 360, a PS3, a Wii, 3 phones and a tablet at any one time. Though my speeds still don't drop below 50Mbps with all of these devices connected. Not to mention FiOS is still spotty, service wise. In NYC, they are still missing tons of neighborhoods.

Very true. I believe Brooklyn as a whole is just getting FIOS. Idky Verizon did their cable like that.

  5. Optimum's speeds on average are faster than FiOS and typiclly speeds are above advertised.

Optimum is the best ISP in the tri-state area by a long shot.

What speeds do you get with Optimum. I have the 50/25 for FIOS Plan. I usually average about 45-50/35-45. Verizon wants us to upgrade to FIOS quantum which would be the 75/30 Plan, but theres no point for me & my family. Im the main one who uses up the Wifi anyway with my PS3 gaming lol.

  6. Honestly I know this is off topic but I was reading this article about Verizon tripling its Speeds in major cities and I really think it's pointless. I feel like it's pointless for Carriers like Verizon & AT&T to have LTE because all they're gonna do is cap & throttle data & depending on how much data you have (2GB-50GB ) it's pointless and a waste a money. Then the prices for these low GB plans is ridiculous. More money thats just being wasted.

I have the original unlimited family plan with 4 people on it. I went to the Verizon website to check how much it'd be if my whole family were to switch & its almost double for some low amount of Data. Please let me know im how my family & I are supposed to split 6GB 4 ways -_-. I just don't see the point.

The only thing Verizon/AT&T are good for is competition & motivation for other carriers to be better & surpass them. Betchu if Verizon/AT&T didn't exist then we probably wouldn't have had LTE until 2020. Lol im being dramatic but you guys get the point.

  7. Though TV quality is supposed to be better, and I don't know now much I believe that.

FIOS has the best everything in my opinion. The The cable service itself is by far the best i've ever had. I had FIOS when I first moved to Long Island & I hated it.

  8. Sorry. It's just I have the 101/35 tier and I only get 55/35 and it makes me so angry! Though I really shouldn't be complaining.

Lmaooo why do you need ur data to be that fast. I have FIOS 50/25 but I get 45-50/35. My school WIFI is 70-80/50 & honestly I can't tell the difference, it all feels the same.

  9. With anything over 10Mbps, you're not really going to notice a difference in the speeds unless you are downloading big files.

What does make a difference is the latency.

A high ping time can make Google Fiber seem slow. A low ping time can make a 5Mbps connection seem pretty fast.

Maybe the Sprint network is getting better latency than your home connection.

My ping at home is 10-15, my LTE ping is 30-70 but LTE still seems more snappier & faster.
