Nope. In past years I used to routinely get Sprint service as far south as Revolución and Constitución. I usually always had a signal in that long wait at the border before crossing back into the USA if someone had driven. I once got a signal at a cliff front cafe on the ocean about 20 miles south of TJ. I imagine I had perfect conditions that day a long time ago. Now I would most likely be on roaming at the same spot.

That's a big improvement from last August when I last went to a game there. Service was close to non-existent then.

I sure hope so. Both locations are owned by the same local hotel operator so it's possible that the holdup is with the building's management. A similar nearby location on the roof of the tallest area building was completed last year. That hotel is also a hotel but owned by a different group. It required extensive trenching, rooftop remodeling and construction of an exterior equipment building where the fiber enters Mission Bay Park.

I realize that this is an older post but I guess experience varies in TJ. I have been there many times and usually have Sprint native CDMA signal as far as the arch on Revolution and a bit farther. It can be an issue inside buildings down the hill, North of the arch. Constitution and Revolution are about the same. I once got a decent signal on a patio overlooking the ocean in Puerto Nuevo which is way south of Tijuana. These days, a newer phone like the Samsung Galaxy S5 or S6 gets a constant signal all of the way to Cabo via roaming. Ain't it sweet? This is true in coastal waters at sea too.

You didn't say exactly where. Is it Mission Beach, South Mission Beach or Mission Bay? Mission Beach It's one of the last places in San Diego to get NV installed. There are 2 very important sites that will serve the beach that don't appear to even been started. I checked a few days ago and saw nothing new. Today I got very poor 3G with no working data near Belmont Park. In Sprint's defense, all major carriers have had issues in Mission Beach. Most likely for the same reasons. This is a case where WiFi will come in handy. The news might not be all bad depending on where exactly you will be located. There is also a chance that the new equipment might be installed before August. San Diego has the usual NIMBY stuff, fussy building owners & slow city approvals like anywhere else. California ALSO has the "Coastal Commission" which is bureaucracy at it's stifling best (worst). They have a "slow" say in anything that happens within roughly a mile from the ocean.

The beaches are still pretty sparse for good or even any LTE. A fair number of sites not even started for NV. OB seems to be an exception and is fairly well covered now from what I have found. The key to Mission Beach and PB are a couple of sites on tall hotel buildings. When NV is finished, they should kick butt.

I agree. The Coastal Commission is involved in all beach area sites along with the usual players. Building owners, City of SD, Mission Bay Park (City II), AT&T fiber etc, etc, etc..... Still waiting for Bahia Hotel & The Catamaran Hotel to be started as well as the Hyatt to be accepted. I have, once only, received a kick ass LTE signal from the Hyatt but it went away almost right away. That site is nearing 8 months since they started trenching for fiber. According to Sensorly, once the Bahia and Hyatt are turned on along with North Ocean Beach, Sprint should have by far the best coverage in Mission Beach and offshore. It's an area that has had poor coverage from all carriers but has a bunch of locals and way more tourists. Gotta be a good thing for Sprint.

It was taken at Hospitality Point near the lifeguard office. Lucky I took it when I did because all the equipment in now hidden behind a sort of screen they built about 8' or so out from the building's wall. The equipment on the other side of the building is behind the same kind of screen. -
A crew is working on a high capacity site near where you were, by Sea World. Maybe their testing is interfering with data. Voice seems solid but data drops out and back again. I just ran a test and got 0.24 Mbs down. Usually it would be 1.5 - 2.25. Sent using Tapatalk 2

Perhaps they were committed to buying a specific quantity of original S4s so they were able to add a new color to fulfill the pre-order with the hope that a new color might pick up additional buyers.

The yellow on the Spark map is referring to the 2.5 GHz not 800 in the Dana Point area. The IBEZ extends way north almost to LA, certainly way north of most of Orange Co.

Wow, it looks like K.E XII is right. The LTE map has been updated to include Western San Diego County. Can a formal announcement be far behind? Before Christmas or at least the New Year? The same map has OC/LA pretty much yellow, meaning Spark, as far south as Dana Point.

Can some of you gurus tell me what I am looking at here? This is in San Diego and is right next to some current telecommunications construction in Mission Bay Park. There has been an ongoing trenching and construction project for the last month which might well be to bring fiber to the Sprint site on the Hayatt hotel . In what seemed like overnight, these 2 sites located on brand new street lights appeared. I'm fairly sure that one of them is Verizon but would appreciate feedback about what I am looking at here. I'm trying to figure this out. I'm guessing that some other carriers are taking advantage of the fiber backhaul that Sprint is bringing to the area. Did some mapping in PB and MB today. Only PB showed up with LTE active at around the Rec Center on Diamond. I have been checking for the last few months since I mapped a weak signal at Crown Point which is now stronger and also a signal on the east side of Fiesta Island (via bicycle). It's clear from looking at the Fiesta Island Sensorly map just how effective the 6' high sand dunes/berms are at blocking the LTE signal. I also mapped some new LTE on Voltaire near Catalina in OB last week....it's spreading. Voltaire speed was 8.73 down. This is the first week that it has shown up so I'm hopeful for the near future Here is the Speedtest from Voltaire

Samsung has announced new Galaxy S4 handsets that will automatically switch between different 4G networks worldwide. This doesn't mention Sprint but it seems an obvious place for it to end up in the US. Samsung says the move is designed to make it easier for travellers to use data services in different countries without disruption. While most of the world relies on FDD-LTE, adoption of TDD-LTE is expected to grow in the US, China, Australia, Middle East, Northern and Eastern Europe, and Southwest Asia. According to market research firm Strategy Analytics, the global LTE market will increase 20 percent annually on average, from 270 million devices in 2013 to 680 million devices in 2017. The TDD-LTE market is expected to take up 18 percent of the entire LTE market by 2015. Samsung will launch the dual-mode LTE handsets in countries worldwide from the third quarter of this year.
