  1. Probably the new Sprint site I noticed yesterday on the water tower at Gulf Gate. each sector has 4 RRUs instead of 3. can someone please remind me of the difference in that setup? all the other NV installs I've seen have only 3 RRUs per sector.
  2. Quick question out of curiosity for those in the know. In our market, for example, NV work is being done by a company based out of Tampa called Betacom. So my question is; who contracts the sub-contractors, and pressumeably monitors the progress of their work- Sprint, Ericsson, or both?
  3. so, my mistake. I made assumptions the other day when I saw a crew working at the Orlando Blvd. site in West Bradenton. They where switching out antennas for T-Mobile, not Sprint. still nothing NV related going on there since RRU's were basically dumped and abandoned there 5 months ago. ...man this thread has died.
  4. I think the Florida Blvd. site has only been on intermittently for testing because this morning I was only getting 3G around those parts. Legacy antennas are FINALLY being swapped out for NV antennas at the site on Orlando Ave. where RRU's have been ground mounted since March.
  5. Florida Blvd. site is live this morning. I'll leave it to you kind Droid-heads to map on Sensorly.
  6. did a 3G cluster just get lit up in Bradenton? I don't think I've EVER seen such a great ping on EVDO, let alone speeds above 400kbps.
  7. alas, nothing really seems like it's happening. The site on 14th and Orlando Ave. has had RRU's ground installed for MONTHS and hasn't been touched since. The site at Florida Blvd. was finally upgraded a few weeks ago but is not live; which is sad because it would really help to fill in some dead zones over by the airport and Ringling museum. I know of at least 4 other sites in south Sarasota and one east over by the interstate that have also had NV equipment installed for weeks upon weeks upon weeks but have yet to go live.
  8. I don't understand why AT&T always gets such a bad rep. I was an AT&T iPhone/BlackBerry customer in SW Florida for 2 years- never had a dropped call, fast, consistent data, and more than adequate customer service. The only reason I left was because I was tired of paying $100 every month for capped data.
  9. The tower they're working on is Sprint. They're one the second rack, below Verizon I think. The adjacent tower is AT&T on the top and I'm not sure who else.
  10. Just passed the tower on Florida Blvd. on my way home from work. Looks like work there has finally begun!
  11. seems that way from the looks of Sensorly. I haven't been down that way in a while though. I guess I should head down to Venice to visit my mom. ...and to check out the coverage! ????
  12. right on! guess I was mistaken about WiMax. So where is this tower?
  13. if I'm not mistaken WiMAX sites are being decommissioned as they are upgraded to LTE which is probably why you lost WiMAX. where exactly is this tower?
  14. just judging from coverage where there was none before, looks like two new towers have been fired up; in Sarasota by the Bee Ridge I-75 exit, and in Bradenton the tower on the west side of SCF campus.
  15. Same with the tower on 41 and Orlando Ave. It has had RRU's installed for months now but still no panels. Also, nothing south of Bee Ridge in Sarasota. :/
  16. picking up LTE this morning at Sarasota Airport. Only managed to pull about 3Mbps down and .60 up with a signal of 97dbm.
  17. anyone else in Bradenton having issues with service today? LTE keeps dropping out (where available) and EVDO is basically useless.
  18. no, I'm talking about the one on the corner of 41(or 14th Street, Tamiami Trail, whatever you want to call it) and Orlando Ave. across the street from McDonalds and Gordon Foods.
  19. I have seen a lot of activity at the tower in Bradenton that I've been keeping track of, behind the donut shop on 41. As of late I haven't seen any of the BetaCom crew there, but RRU's are now fully installed and for the past few days there have been workers there digging and laying down cable. my guess is fiber backhaul.
  20. I'm out on Siesta Key for a work meeting and I saw some NV panels going up on a condo rooftop, just north of the village. was late to the meeting (oops!) so I didn't have time to stop and investigate further, just saw that panels were up but not yet broadcasting.
  21. Correct, there are actually two towers there, right next to each other, right behind the gas station on the corner of 14th St. and Florida Blvd. On the second rack of the northern-most tower is Sprint. I pulled into that site the other day just to check it out and there is a cabinet that appears to be pretty much brand new so there is no reason to believe that tower won't be upgraded. Assuming that new cabinet is a Sprint LTE cabinet then they're probably just waiting on backhaul, RRU's and panels. Towers don't get upgraded all in one shot, it's a project that is spread out over weeks. The tower that I've been monitoring over 14th Street, behind the donut shop, had RRU's ground mounted over a month ago, I'm pretty sure backhaul has been installed, but as of yet no panels. I can't wait till that one gets finished!
  22. The nearest tower to you that's actually broadcasting LTE is on the corner of 30th St. W and 45th Ave. W
  23. I really hope to see service in North Sarasota improve soon. The entire stretch of 41 from Myrtle Ave. all the way to Tallevast is basically unusable. I'm always either roaming or on one bar of 1X, 3G is basically non-existant, and no service of any kind at New College and Ringling. Airport is spotty at best.
